Unable to respawn anywhere if killed right after spawning on spawn beacon

I was unable to spawn after spawning on a spawn beacon and dying immediately to a grenade explosion that happened. I was laying on the ground but the deploy menu was still visible. I did not see the interface to request help or respawn but holding space let me release. Afterwards I could not select any squad members or points of interest. The destroyed spawn beacon was still selected and I could see the area (fixed camera) after it was destroyed. I attempted to leave the squad and create a new squad but I was unable to respawn in any way.
