I recently raced in Jeddah in rain. When the race started, I was prompted with regular race strategy with slick tires and 1 stop.
I thought: OK maybe it really is a LIGHT rain.
Some time later one of the AI drivers (bortoleto) was forced to pit, and changed to inters. It became very clear that inters were faster, as he passed everyone and took lead of the race.
So I changed to inters, and indeed, I had much better traction.
AI drivers however remained on slick tires, and the one that had inters - changed to slick tires again. And lost his lead.
I proceeded to win that race because AI was very slow.
This raises many questions, like:
- why did Bortoleto change to inters?
- why did no other AI driver change to inters despite Bortoleto being clearly MUCH faster?
- why did Bortoleto change back to slicks then?
