Game Crash Randomly while using VR Steam/EA

My Game keeps crashing.
This could be in Menu, Loadingscreen, Pit or while driving.
The Game just freeze for few seconds, after that it's crashing without any error.
This happens mostly at the first round on track. 1-2 times i could drive 4-5 Rounds

No Overheating or max usage somewhere else.
VR Runs with HP Reverb G2 on 100% resolution smoothly like never else (90fps constantly)

I tried without Vr as Well, maybe i was "lucky" but i did not run into a crash after ~20 Minutes of playing.

Launcher:
Ea and Steam Launcher

Hardware:
9900x
RTX 5080 Astral
32GB RAM
850W Powersupply
(No OC until "XMP" Profile selected in Bios)

What i did:
- Update any Driver (GPU, Mainboard) Bios MB, Bios GPU, VC++, Windows 10 incl. optional
- Reinstall: SteamVr (with deleting the Files in Appdata), Windows Mixed Reality, WMR for Steam, VR Headset (manually uninstalled drivers)
- lower steamvr resolution to 70%
- Lower ingame Resolution and turned off any "special" Settings
- Run with VSync (normally without)
- Run in Fullscreen / Windows Mode
- Start everything as Administrator
- Start with Compatiblity mode (win 7 and 8)
- Used different Ports for VR Headset, replugged every cable.
- probably alot more i dont remeber right now.

What i gonna try:
- DDU for uninstall GPU driver + reinstall (already did after changing GPU from 3080 ti to 5080
- deactivate Steam VR Home
- Gonna try F1 23 as well, i did not play it for a while. If a NVIDIA driver or something else causing the Issue, i could have some Problems in other Games as well. I dont think so, because i played other VR Games without problems (1-2 Weeks ago)
- Maybe i gonna try again in non-VR Mode for a longer duration.

Optional Information:
I do have an old Oculus Rift (with sensors) as well. Depending of what happens after "what i gonna try", i will try this headset as well. -> this would be only for sharing more information for fixing the problem.

Thanks in advance.

    Ok.
i tested a few more things.
    In short:
The Problem fixed after i uninstalled the Nvidia Driver and installed an older Version (572.83).
    Now everything is working fine.

I reinstalled the new one -> boom Crashes instantly again.
I do not have any Crashes in Non-VR mod (tested again for 30 Minutes)

I did test F1 23 too. It's crashing as well -> So there is a Problem with the new driver.

Can confirm this issue. However it did occur with an older driver as well as with the newest.

Most of the time I encounter this issue when using rewind (not all the time, but like 30-50% of the time) and other actions where the game switches from a VR in-car view to a windowed mode. The picture in VR hangs, but on the mirrored monitor the game continues for a little while until SteamVR encounters the issue and terminates the game immediately.

I use a Meta Quest 3 with updated drivers and a 4080 Super and 5700x. I have no such issues with any other VR games (LMU, iRacing, ACC,  AC, Automobilista 2, Race room). I hope this gets fixed soon, because the current approach is to drive without rewind if possible and save often. But it's still frustrating.

If you need any other information, I'd be glad to provide it.

    EDIT: typos

Having the exact same issue. Game crashes when going from big screen view to VR or when rewinding. On medium graphics settings, all temps fine. Mine also freezes before SteamVR then asks to restart or quit and then shuts down the game.  PC Specs RTX 4060, 32GB DDR4, Ryzen 7 5700x Meta Quest 2.  Please fix this issue as i bought the game just for its VR and multiplayer. 😅

  • Ok I am not the only one, I keep having the same issue for months ... to the point that I quit playing for a while (sucks). Everything is fine when racing, but when I enter the garage (in practice) and switch to screen view or use rewind while racing, everything goes nuts and it crashes within seconds. I used monitoring data to see what processes might be affected but all I see is my GPU spike to full clock and just crash. I tried reverting back to older drivers but it doesn't solve the issue for me. My PC Specs: Ryzen 7 5700G, 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 4070 12GB VRAM, Meta Quest 3.
