This bug has been reported and really needs fixing asap, because it kills races.

This has happened probably three or more times in my two-player career, only to me, my teammate has not had this issue.
I am player 1 on PC (Steam) and player 2 is on xbox. I have pit release assist on, player 2 does not.
I don't recall which tracks this happened at previously, but last night this happened when I pitted at Sao Paulo running 3rd, held for a long time after a wing and tyre change, so very frustrating. Safety car was deployed around the time I got into the pit lane too.
I am relatively new to the game and finally looked like finishing on the podium until this happened 🙃.
