Severe FFB Issue with Direct Drive Wheels

Dear F1 25 Support Team,

I’m writing to report a serious issue with the force feedback (FFB) implementation in F1 25 when using direct drive wheels.

I am currently using a Simagic Alpha EVO 12Nm wheelbase, and the force feedback in the game feels extremely notchy and stepped, with a lack of smoothness that makes it nearly unusable for serious sim racing. This is not an isolated case—I've gone to a professional sim equipment retailer, to thoroughly test the hardware.

There, we re-tested my own equipment and also tried other direct drive wheels, including models from Conspit and Fanatec. Unfortunately, the problem persisted across all setups when using F1 25, indicating that this is not a hardware or driver issue, but rather a compatibility or software issue with the game’s FFB engine itself.

For reference, the FFB works flawlessly in other racing sims such as iRacing, Assetto Corsa, and ACC, so I’m confident that the issue lies with how F1 25 handles FFB on direct drive wheels.

This is a major problem for the sim racing community, especially for users with higher-end equipment. I hope your team can escalate this issue for urgent investigation and resolution.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards

You don’t have any issues anymore? Personally, I’m using a Simagic EVO 12Nm base, and I’ve tried everything, nothing works. So I ended up removing all the direct drive settings in game and set up a kind of fake direct drive through my Simagic software. It sucks, but at least I can play without that problem.

A second thing I did, was to turn off frame generation in the nvidia control panel.

I wish I were on Simucube :) I’m on Fanatec dd1 and changed the setting to 120 fps.

  • I'm done with ea... They seem to be making no effort to fix this problem. At least acknowledge that it is a problem. I won't but another ea game.

SPHXYZ so unfortunately, no change for me.  What Simucube profile are you using (i'm assuming you're on a Simucube for some reason)?  did you still have your frames limited to 60?  I still get pretty bad cogging.

SPHXYZ Trying this first thing tonight!  Fingers crossed. Thank you for following up as well!  Something EA devs can't even do on their own platform.

I was able to get rid of cogging by deleting the hardwaresettings.xml file. I can’t say which specific setting or combination of settings caused the cogging, but I’d guess it was something related to frame generation.

Give it a try — keeping my fingers crossed for you!

  • Like my friend above said, I've already reported this and confirmed with others on Reddit that they also were suffering the same issue.  Not sure why EA doesn't respond.  I couldn't get a refund eventhough alsmost all of my time was spent testing for this bug.

EA must already know about this problem. It has been reported 4 months ago. If you limit fps to 60 ffb is fine. I know this is not a solution, but it also shows, that the problem is not hardware related. I found no other solution so far.

I have no idea why they don't respond to the problem.
