Game crashes in menu

Hello, I have a PS5 that consistently crashes with error CE-108255-1 when launching NHL 27,while NHL 24, FIFA 18 and other games work normally.

I have already tried:

reinstalling NHL 27 from disc

deleting NHL 27 saved data

testing another PS5 user profile

clearing cache

rebuilding the database

Repair Console Storage

updating PS5 system software

restoring default settings

disabling 120 Hz, VRR and HDR

The problem still occurs immediately after launching NHL 27.

Hello. Thanks for reaching out. You've already tried a lot of what I would suggest. Have you made sure your console's firmware is up to date? Also, do you have the latest NHL 27 update that was released on the 11th?

Yes, the console has the latest update and the game is updated too, but it still doesn't help. Sometimes the game crashes right after launching, other times only when I start "Play Now" mode... the longest I went without a crash was while creating my pro in "Be a Pro," but the game crashed as soon as I actually started the career.

  • Do NHL 27 and 26 run on the same engine? I’d like to try NHL 26 on my PS5 to see if the issue might actually be with my console.

It's possible 26 will crash as well. If you have an EA Play subscription, you should have access to it.

Is the game installed on the internal hard drive or do you use an external one?

Hey there. Very sorry for the late response! I assume you don't have another PS5? Just curious if it works on your account on another console. That would help narrow it down to specifically being an issue with your PS5.

Also, did you try a factory reset?

  • I've already performed a factory reset, but it didn't help... and I don't have the option to try it on another PS5.And all the other games work...

Unfortunately, there isn't much we can do about this. While we are aware of other crashes, it's not the same as what you're experiencing. The others have you crashing to the dashboard rather than displaying the CE-108255-1 error message. Have you tried contacting Sony support to see if they have any suggestions? You've already tried everything I can suggest.

  • I contacted Sony and followed the steps they suggested, but they didn't help, so I'm going to try sending the PS5 in for a warranty claim since I've only had it for a few days. It's a shame, because I pre-ordered NHL and was really looking forward to the game—I'm a huge fan of the series. Anyway, thanks for your help, and hopefully I'll be able to play once the PS5 comes back from the warranty service. When the PS5 comes back from the service center, I'll let you know how it turned out; maybe it will help someone reading this forum who had the same problem I did.
