Umbrella Leaf, as stated in its almanac entry, protects your plants from attacks from overhead like Bowling Zombie's bowling balls, lightning strikes, saganaki blasts, and Ropeswinger Zombies.
When the Batter Zombie uses its special ability to deflect a lobbed projectile from say, a Cabbage-Pult, it gets lobbed back to the plant that fired the projectile (in this case, back at the offending Cabbage-Pult). I noted during my playthrough that Batter Zombie is tagged as a "Lobber", the same as the Cabbage-Pult and its related Tier 2 and 3 evolutions.
For some reason, Umbrella Leaf doesn't block Batter Zombie's lobbed projectiles, which I would expect to happen to mirror the interaction between Cabbage-Pult and Parasol Zombie, which similarly uses an overhead shield to block attacks from above.
THIS INTERACTION DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME. Lobbed projectiles come from overhead, so why don't Umbrella Leaf plants deflect them (much like how Umbrella Leaf could deflect basketballs shot by the Catapult Zombie in the original PvZ). I don't know if this counts as a bug or an oversight, but it's something within the game's logic that to me, doesn't make much sense, especially given:
- Cabbage-Pult plants and Batter Zombies are both lobbers
- Umbrella Leaf plants and Parasol Zombies both have overhead shields
Thanks in advance for any feedback or reception to this post - Batter Zombies are already one of the most difficult enemies in the game to deal with, and the above lapse in the game's own logic makes them even moreso.
