Current state of replay editor
First of all, it’s great that keyframes were added — really looking forward to future iterations of the replay editor. I’d like to highlight the issues that I and other players I talk to have run into while working with the replay editor, and make a list of the features we’d love to see.
Bugs and issues:
- Skipped frames, stutters, floating and incorrect/canceled tricks - these issues pop up when trying to film other players. Not entirely sure if it’s a network problem (in which case, would love to see dedicated servers or P2P sessions, or at least pre-load group matchmaking to pick a better server), or issue of replay editor.
- Export om 1.0 speed looks have more issues with skipped frames and other issues listed above
- Twitchy camera movement right before moving to the next keyframe position — seems like it happens more often when adding a keyframe between existing ones. Also camera can’t standing still and twitching on initial and last keyframes
- Tripod offset changing despite equal positions in keyframes.
- FoV changing even with equal parameters between keyframes
- Incorrect position of camera when entering in replay - if you load into game and ride around sometimes camera stays in place of spawn (that could be reaaaaly far)
- When adding tilt to the camera, the camera begins to add a negative/positive tilt in previous frames.
- Export cut-offs few seconds on Xbox - seems like 3-2-1 countdown doesn't synced to export start point and video end up losing few seconds from beginning. Also not sure why Xbox (at least) doing double export - without sound, and then again with sound (only last one saved).
- A very rare bug, but sometimes huge chunk of replay just don't exist in the replay editor.
- Even when the player filter is applied, the visual VFX from emotes/gestures still show up in the replay
- Quick Drops outlines still visible in the editor even if it’s disabled in social settings
- Visual bugs - shadows glitching, textures blurred, objects missing... Most of this is obviously tied to real-time rendering, but maybe there’s something that can be done about it during export? Also light\shadows works extremely strange when filming low and close to the board.
- When hide/unhide UI tabs of advanced editor automatically switch to Trim.
Wishlist of features:
- Focus (depth of field / DoF) — ideally two sliders for near and far plane.
- Hide highlighting on ledges and other challenge guide UI in replay
- Lenses — different lens options / real-world lens equivalents in addition to the FOV slider.
- Some type of control over camera movement curves (to prevent camera going underground or into textures), or at least smoother motion without these weird shifts.
- Camera presets — a few save slots for settings + some built-in presets.
- Show camera XYZ position and orientation — for cases when you need to exit the editor and later come back to the exact same angle; would make editing way easier. Pairs really well with presets.
- Camera props + a camera emote available both on-board and off-board — for cameraman roleplay.
- POV camera preset in addition to Orbit\Free\Tripod or extra option for Orbit. We can emulate it now, but would be cool to have native function.
- Light sources - at least one adjustable for flashlight effect on camera. For virtual photography at least three that can be moved around.
- Color filters - that's, honestly, less about the replay editor specifically and more about the game’s overall visual settings. It would be great to have in‑game options to tweak brightness, contrast, and hue directly in the game visual settings. I’ve seen similar suggestions on Reddit, I believe.
Feel free to comment and add any bugs you know about or replay-related feature you think should be added in this list (Yes, I know and devs know we all wanna day/night cycle).
Let’s help make the game better!
