Soft Lock After Starting Mission

After completing 2-3 missions, the next mission I accept won't start. I can still skate around but I am no longer able to open any menu other than the quick drop menu. This happens routinely and the only solution is the force quit the game (Alt+F4).  This issue persists even after verifying game files and reinstalling the game.
