Since the latest update 2024-09-18 I no longer can alt+tab out of full screen mode on PC. The only way to switch windows is to completely shut down sims. Tried both the windows key and task manager but still sims was full screen on top of everything. Works with window mode still but I really don't want to play in window mode.

I had gone back to DX9 which solved my problem. But had to do it again after the latest update since they still haven't solved the problem and updating only brings the problem back. Super annoying. Like it's been months, how is it not fixed in the recent update? Its a huge problem that you can't tab out lol.

Alt+Tab works, but Sims 4 window stays on top.

Hoping this will be fixed soon, I really want to start using DX11 but being unable to alt+tab out is not doable.
There are two workarounds. You can either switch back to DX9 or change your Display Type to Windowed Full Screen. I've been using the second method, Windowed Full Screen, for several months now and have no trouble using Alt-Tab with DX11.
You'll find Display Type under Game Options/Graphics.

If you go to game options and change your display type from Fullscreen to Windowed Full screen, you should be able to Alt-Tab to switch tabs again!! Hope this helps!!!
