I experienced the same fright that DracuAlice2017 did above, which is that I at first thought I had lost the household I was working on prior to the patch before I noticed the filter.
And I agree with Amuni50 that newer or less experienced The Sims 4 gallery browsers will miss newer creations. I'm not really one who cares about my downloads and favorites, but I would be lying if I didn't admit that it does indeed make me a bit happy if I see that people has taken notice to my creations. But this default filter will certainly put a huge road block for my creation to even be noticed.
Especially since the front page you now see on the gallery is filtered by most popular instead of newest. I'd rather be surprised by fun new creations and simmers I didn't know about on the front page of the gallery, and then filter to popular now or most popular at wish. ESPECIALLY in my own library!
I just noticed that the promise to fix the gallery in May comes with a contingency due to a laundry list of other problems. It would seem to me that fixing something they broke would be at the top of that list. Many of my friends are no longer playing because of the gallery issue. First EA took away the original gallery with the News and now they again put in a new gallery that does not work at all. Please consider making this a priority.
It's coming in early May, I personally don't think this issue is a top priority issue compared to some other more serious issues.
