Is there something weird with the "Mechanical sympathy" challenge in the new DLC?

Only 50 drivers from all over world have been able to complete it on gold. I can't complete it at all. The comparing driver is just so fast, seems almost impossible for me to find 20 seconds to beat him on such short stage.
