The Possibility of a Dead Space 2 Remake
I'd like to share my opinion on EA’s handling of the Dead Space franchise. We already know what happened with Visceral Games, and also much of what the company expected from the title itself. I’d say the president at the time was somewhat misguided when it came to survival horror games. This obsession with sales numbers has never really sat well with me, even for the most well-known titles like Resident Evil 4, whose sales figures aren't that impressive when compared to a multiplayer war FPS like Battlefield or Call of Duty. If there’s one thing the Dead Space franchise has, it’s critical acclaim. I think that alone was enough to solidify it as a cult classic in the genre. It made its impact, made noise, and still teaches lessons in several aspects of the genre, with a unique identity. But beyond that, we need to understand that certain strategies just shouldn’t be expected from a game like this—especially when a company tries to aim for something almost impossible within the genre, except in very specific cases. That said, a Dead Space 2 remake would be more than welcome. Not just because of the reimagining with modern visuals, but because of the potential it carries—particularly in terms of atmosphere, narrative construction, and world-building. Yes, a Dead Space 2 remake could be the foundation for a fully explorable version of the Sprawl, which was already a massive setting, even though it was linear in the original. What makes me think about this is the sheer size of the Sprawl and how many side missions could be created to deepen the lore of the outbreak and its characters—just as the Ishimura was given more freedom with its interconnected design. That same logic makes me believe the scale could be far greater, adding new bosses and enemy types, as well as expanding on hallucination sequences and improving existing boss fights like the Stalker. Just imagine that interconnected world like the Ishimura, now expanded into a semi-open world that gradually unlocks, giving you the choice to revisit areas as access codes are found. That alone would elevate the atmosphere to an unprecedented scale. So a Dead Space 2 remake project could very well become one of the most ambitious survival horror remakes in history. And of course, with that level of change, creation, and design, it would take quite a long time to develop. I can’t imagine EA greenlighting it and expecting a quick release. It would likely be something aimed for the next generation of consoles, precisely due to its potential. Let’s not forget that Visceral created the original sequel in just three years after the first game. The difference today is that to make a truly great game, development would have to be on a much bigger scale. I also think that, if possible, EA should think about a very smart and strategic marketing plan, especially in times when the game could benefit from a proper hype cycle. It’s easy to see that the marketing strategy for the 2023 Dead Space remake wasn’t the most favorable—mainly due to competing titles. Still, it was a critically acclaimed remake. I’d also love to see them invest in natural lighting techniques, avoiding overreliance on ray tracing, while giving proper focus to optimization. But anyway, this is just a fan’s wish!
Muchas gracias. Edit: Moved thread to Spanish language forums. -CM23Views0likes1CommentDead Space and EA
I want to start off by saying I love Dead Space and other EA IPs, But as it seems EA makes every wrong choice possible. They favor short term benefits over long term growth and public interest. They seem content to run themselves into the ground with repeated flops instead of trying to foster the audience they already have. It really confusing because we have seen multiple games hit it out of the park that had little to no public interest before release because of word of mouth. Even with remakes like Resident Evil, little to no one talked about RE Remake but still sold 4.6 million copies then RE2 Remake caught every ones eyes because capcom continued to iterate and gained back wide public interest and selling 14 million copies. I believe if EA had let motive make Dead Space 2 Remake like they originally had wanted it likely would have been out by now and swept the competition considering there is little to none in the Sci-Fi Survival Horror Genre right now. Instead they opted to have motive work on an Iron Man game, Now I have nothing against Iron Man I loved him as a kid and I'm sure there are Marvel/Iron Man fans that will buy the game but I'm pretty confident in the fact it wont sell well. Especially considering that at Iron Mans height during the release of the Iron Man movies there was a Iron Man game on the 360 that was pretty good but it only sold 2.6 million copies so they might be able to expect to sell around that much with this new release when Iron Man is less in the public eye but that wouldn't be enough for them by their own barometer. Even if we consider the fact that there are more Marvel fans now than ever Iron Man isn't a huge favorite for most but lets go along with this and say it sells twice as much that would be around 5.2 million copies, But is that enough for EA? If it is why didn't they continue with Dead Space? The original Dead Space sold around 1 million copies then Dead Space 2 Sold 4 million copies seeding steady growth by word of mouth. But EA stuck their fingers in the pie and messed with Dead Space 3 alienating Its core audience of around 4 million which would have been set to grow had they not tried to get a new different audience making Dead Space 3 sell around 600 thousand copies killing the franchise. Then when the Dead Space Remake was released it revived the franchise selling 2 million copies so if we use the original releases as an outline a Dead Space 2 remake would have sold around 6 million copies maybe even more if we used RE remakes as an outline it would be around 12 million copies. Anyone can look these things up, EA and its employees can as well as they should have their own metrics. So why abandon Dead Space again? I know the most likely reason is the same one that is plaguing the gaming industry as a whole right now, bloated costs and poor decision making from out of touch executives who know little to nothing about their IP. Its very frustrating for me and many others who just want there favorite IPs to continue as they were. Even more so when seeing things like Elden Ring, From Software has continued to make the games fans love (me included) and continue to grow. I just wish EA could get their act together and make the games their fan love. But that's just a pipe dream at this point. What do you think? do you think I'm wrong? Are you frustrated with EA too? let me know! Id like this to be a friendly discussion so lets be courteous to one another please![PC] Dead Space 2 impossible à démarrer

Just purchased a Steam Deck because my gaming laptop fried and wanted to play Dead Space 2. I purchased the game back in 2021 off of Steam and believe me it’s one of my favorite titles to play, more so when it kept me entertained through my deployment. after installing it on my deck and running it, it said that the authorization key given exceeded its use. Talked about Customer Support and said they can’t do anything because they need the see the files installed on the laptop that cannot be looked at because it’s dead and because it’s a “Sunset Game” they cannot reset the limitations. talked to Steam and they said “it’s EA’s property we can’t do anything about it.” Spoke back with EA and they gave me a link to a de-authorization tool that the steam deck cannot run because of its Linux OS. I’m currently installing it on a separate laptop just to use the de-authorization tool to see if that will reset it so I can play the game I legally purchased. If this doesn't work that I'm going back to the Steam discussion page on what can be done. The biggest load that I am seeing right now is despite you spending money and owning something, you really don't own it. The joke of digital media is the future is that you can spend money for it to be disabled. They act as if you're only going to buy ONE computer to use your entire life.Dead space 2 continuously crashing at the main menu after pressing any button.
I have tried many hours and many things to get this running, I've provided my specs and the conversation I had with an EA help tech. I sincerely hope anyone could help; I've loved the dead space series for many years and have played all many times. I've tried many online reddit solutions, to buying dead space 2 off of steam and the EA website. I've tried changing my bios cores, I've tried clearing the cache, I've tried reinstalling it. I've tried deleting all old data just in case of any corruption, and I've also tried the troubleshoot compatibly windows provider and it still crashes at the main menu. I should also mention prior to this, I was able to play Dead space 2 off of steam for many many hours, then one day it just stopped working. I play Soley off PC as well. Thanks for reading.Dead Space 2 with legacy key
I have a physical DVD of Dead Space and tried installing it yesterday again. the game is impossible to load because it seems to no longer be possible to check for the release date online and the game software always tries to run the check before launching. i tried entering my key from back then in the EA app, hoping it would automatically work and it let me download the game but i´m unable to start the game. is there a solution for this problem, can EA give me a new key or do i have to re-buy the game again to make it work?
