Dead Space 2 with legacy key

I have a physical DVD of Dead Space and tried installing it yesterday again. the game is impossible to load because it seems to no longer be possible to check for the release date online and the game software always tries to run the check before launching.

i tried entering my key from back then in the EA app, hoping it would automatically work and it let me download the game but i´m unable to start the game.

is there a solution for this problem, can EA give me a new key or do i have to re-buy the game again to make it work?
