EA SPORTS™ SKATE. Causes Full PC Shutdowns and Restarts During Gameplay
Platform: PC (Steam) Issue: Critical system crashes and unexpected restarts during gameplay Duration: Over a year Description: I've been playing EA SPORTS SKATE. through Steam for over a year now, with over 150 hours played. First of all, props to the development team for continuing to improve the game with each update and for listening to the player base. I genuinely enjoy the game and hope to see it continue to improve in the future. However, there is one recurring issue that has been seriously affecting my experience: SKATE. repeatedly causes my entire PC to crash and restart during gameplay. My desktop PC has the following specifications: CPU: 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700F (2.10 GHz) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (12 GB VRAM) RAM: 64 GB Platform: Steam (PC) Target resolution: 1920 × 1080 (1080p) This hardware should be more than capable of running the game at 1080p. However, while playing SKATE., my PC sometimes appears to experience unusually high power consumption or a sudden system-level failure, eventually shutting down and restarting completely. This is not simply a game crash to the desktop. The entire computer restarts, interrupting everything I am doing. When checking Windows Event Viewer, I consistently encounter the following critical error: Source: Kernel-Power Event ID: 41 Task Category: 63 Message: "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." This issue has been happening repeatedly for over a year, and it is becoming increasingly frustrating. I have continued playing because I genuinely enjoy the game and appreciate the work being done to improve it, but these repeated full-system crashes make it difficult to enjoy the experience reliably. Expected Behavior: The game should run at 1080p on a system with these specifications without causing the entire PC to shut down or restart unexpectedly. Actual Behavior: During gameplay, my PC experiences a critical failure that results in an unexpected shutdown or restart. Windows Event Viewer subsequently records Kernel-Power Event ID 41. Request: Could the development and technical teams please investigate whether this issue could be related to game optimization, unusually high CPU or GPU loads, power spikes, driver compatibility, or another problem triggered during gameplay? I understand that unexpected system restarts can also be caused by hardware, drivers, power delivery, or system stability issues, so I am not assuming the game is necessarily the sole cause. However, the recurring nature of the problem while playing SKATE. makes it worth investigating. I would appreciate any troubleshooting steps, diagnostic recommendations, or information that could help identify the root cause. I genuinely want to keep playing and supporting the game. Thank you for your continued work on SKATE. and for taking the time to look into this issue.13Views0likes0CommentsStick Issue with Switch Pro Controller
I use Switch Pro Controller with Steam Input enabled. I have no problems with any other games, or even using emulators on Skate 3. But with this game, after pushing, then trying to hold the stick down for popping, the character doesn't react and it basically eats the input. I turned the on-screen display on, it shows that it's registering the input, but it doesn't initiate the readying pop animation, and I basically can't act out of pushing normally. I have to wiggle the stick back and forth at the bottom for it to register then he moves down to the readying animation, or I have to re-center the stick back to neutral then move it back down again. It still mostly functions normally for nollie though. I think switch controllers don't go all the way to 1, if I remember correctly. So when I'm pushing down maybe it's at like 0.85 - 0.9 and that for whatever reason doesn't interrupt the pushing animation Very annoying, basically makes the game unplayable on a Switch Pro Controller, before you ask, yes I've tried BetterJoy, it makes the problem worse.17Views0likes0CommentsEl estado actual del Juego
I'm on the Steam version with a 4080 Super, Ryzen 7700, and 32 GB DDR5, but my CPU skyrockets to 195 degrees while playing at 4k 240Hz. I would try 120Hz or 165Hz, but there is no option. This is the only game that gives me this issue, I even have the graphics turned down, but it makes no difference. I love this game, but I fear playing it will just degrade my hardware. Playing at a lower frame rate makes this game significantly less enjoyable, and 1440p on a 4k panel looks pretty bad.Always Crashing on Title Screen Once but it starts up fine on the 2nd time.
This is what I see for roughly 20 seconds with nature ambience, before the game's audio stutters and it closes itself. When I boot up the 2nd time it runs fine - I can enter the game and play completely normally. This crash happens garunteed everytime whenever there's a long enough gap (probably an hour) where skate hasn't been ran. After that first crash I can boot it up fine as many times as I want. This has been happening since the start of season 5 but it hasn't bothered me that much, but I've reached my final straw at having an unrelated replay bug happen to me recently so I'm just gonna report this one because I want stability back I guess. I have a very low-end pc so it might be the main reason why this happens, but season 3 ran fine, barely ever crashed, and that was after the major graphics update. (and season 4 ran fine after the black screen bug was silently patched) -- so idk how much a priority it is for the game to run on low end hardware, but it seems like it can be fixed. TLDR: Crashing on low end hardware more often since this season. And a rare replay speed bug happens -- probably due to alt-tabbing, and sometimes can fix itself but sometimes doesn't. I attached a file that contains 3 exports that show me using different things to try to fix it which didn't work I didn't add any speed alterations to keyframes, each keyframe was 1x. The first two examples were in 1x speed on the export settings, on the 3rd one I experimented with 0.5x - which still had fluctuations. --- Lately, much like season 4 - season 5 feels like a gamble to go through the effort of keyframing. Previous season had a black screen bug and this season has more crashes and a weird replay bug I've been seeing just this week. Basically while exporting the first export, I alt-tabbed at some point - I usually do this while I wait for an export (did this for a year and had no problem with previous seasons). checked stuff, I think I closed a few browser tabs, tabbed back in, saw it finished. Checked the export and the first one had crazy skips and speed fluctuations.. (I actually encountered this bug earlier this week, I fixed it by just exporting again without alt-tabbing, the speed corrected itself, but I crashed after switching to ultra and entering replay editor - which I'm used to happening. But that was the first time I saw the replay speed messing up) For this Bonski replay I exported several times and the speed was forever altered after that first one. After exhausting that option of messing with export settings I decided to exit replay editor, and enter it again to try to fix it. Then the game crashed shortly after I loaded the export I saved -- while I was still in lowest graphics 60 fps.. My usual routine since season 4 was I would play the game in minimum/low for 60 fps gameplay, keyframe in low, export in low, then export in ultra. This is so I can get useable low quality clips before I gamble crashing the game switching to ultra -- I prefer exporting in ultra.. This didn't happen in season 3, season 2, or season 1 - back then I didn't worry about exporting in low first I just went straight to ultra and exported. Huge problems started after season 4 with the black screen bug which was silently patched late that season, but now season 5 has more crashes when I switch to ultra then enter replay editor - I rarely crash when playing the game in ultra even though it runs at 5 fps. In season 5 ultra seems to crash more often when I load a replay save. I thought this was just my potato pc and I thought it was a me issue - It probably is to a major degree, but after experiencing the replay editor crash in low graphics just now I think it might be something else. Also like I said I used to be able to export in 60fps Ultra 1440p without worrying about crashes in the season 1-3 eras. It would be nice for the crashes to be optimized out of the game so super low end hardware like mine can have a stable experience in skate. like in seasons 1-3. Also I was able to alt-tab during exports before season 5 and I never saw a single anomaly. BTW One of the weird things new to this season is instead of the extra frame appearing at the start it sometimes appears at the end, or both (the extra frame is an anomaly that records the countdown somewhat before recording the actual export) MY PC SPECS: CPU: intel i7 4790 3.60GHz RAM: 16 GB - 1632 MHz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER 4GB mainly use the minimum preset - sometimes with ambient occlusion on high - for majority of gameplay. I use the Ultra preset with the intel xess thing on native when exporting clips.. if it lets me without crashing. Suggestion add a way to save replays across sessions, at least 5-10 slots. so when I crash I can continue where I left off. I wouldn't even care that much about crash patches if this was a feature that already existed, it would help magnitudes. This replay speed bug is a another hurdle I have to worry about, unlike the ultra crash issue, this replay speed bug destroys my back up low quality exports after I've already put the effort into it. pls fix12Views0likes0Commentsexporting replays on ps4
ive been hearing from some friends that play on ps4 that they have exported clips and they are not showing anywhere in their ps4 gallery. hopefully a fix can come for that and those clips will show up in their gallerym thats really disturbing to me. thats a lot of work gone.10Views0likes0CommentsGame Crashes Entire PCs
I am completely and totally not alone on this. I have been able to see that this is happening to any user who uses an Nvidia graphics card paired with an AMD CPU for the most part. I have an RTX 5080 with a 9700X. Literally just google “the new skate game crashes my entire computer” and see what you find. This game crashes my entire computer every single time I launch it. Not just kind of crashes it, it fully resets and restarts my entire computer.. I am not alone in this, and it has not been acknowledged not a single time during bug talks at all. This issue has been persisting for over six months now and has prevented me from completely and totally playing the game. Sometimes I get lucky and it doesn’t completely crash my system, but then on next launch the cycle continues. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game more times than I can count. I have verified the integrity of all the files more times than I can count. I have reinstalled windows on my computer in hopes that it would fix the issue, but it did not. I have completely and totally reinstalled every single driver on my system in order to try to fix the issue, but this is not a me issue. This is a you issue.
