A Remake Proposal for Justin Wiebe — Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare
Hello to the EA Community Team, and hopefully to Justin Wiebe, I am writing as a longtime fan of the Plants vs. Zombies franchise, and more specifically of the very first Garden Warfare. For years now, the community has been hoping for a new shooter worthy of that legacy, and I genuinely believe a remake of the original Garden Warfare could be a fantastic opportunity, both for the players and for EA. Right now, there is no team actively working on a new PvZ shooter. The franchise has been dormant while player demand is still very much alive. We have also seen several studios recently focus on remakes and remasters with strong commercial success, proving that this kind of project can be highly profitable while carrying fewer risks than building a brand-new IP from scratch. Justin, if you happen to see this, or if the Community Managers can pass this along to you: your vision for the first Garden Warfare was magical. Here is what I think would make a remake under your legacy a massive success today: 1. Visual Identity: Keep the original Garden Warfare's art style, which a large part of the community still prefers over the later games. 2. Map Design: Bring back all the original maps, modernized technically, plus brand-new maps on top of them. 3. Expanded Content: Add much more content, including more classes, more character variants, and more game modes. 4. Social Experience: Include a central hub, similar to what the later games introduced, to keep the experience dynamic and interactive between matches. 5. Gameplay Balance: Put real effort into balancing from day one to avoid the issues some overpowered content caused in previous titles. This does not need to be a complex, risky new sequel or a full franchise overhaul. A faithful, expanded, and well-balanced remake of the first game would be more than enough to meet an existing, passionate demand and bring the community back together. Many players are ready to invest in this title, whether at launch or through live-service support, representing a genuine commercial opportunity. I would also like to ask the community team: could an internal or external team be put together specifically for this project? I understand the original PopCap team may be assigned elsewhere, but a motivated, well-supported studio could absolutely pick up this blueprint and deliver a masterpiece. Thank you so much for reading. I sincerely hope this message will be taken into consideration and forwarded to the right design teams. Hello, I'm writing as a longtime fan of the Plants vs. Zombies franchise, and more specifically of the very first Garden Warfare. For years now, the community has been hoping for a new shooter worthy of that legacy, and I genuinely believe a remake of the original Garden Warfare could be a fantastic opportunity, both for players and for you. Right now, there's no team actively working on a new PvZ shooter. The franchise has been dormant while player demand is still very much alive. We've also seen several studios recently focus on remakes and remasters (Black Ops 2, Assassin's Creed, etc.) with strong commercial success, which shows this kind of project can be very profitable while carrying less risk than building something entirely from scratch. Here's what I think would make this remake a real success: Keep the original Garden Warfare's art style, which a large part of the community still prefers over the later games. Bring back all the original maps, modernized technically, plus new maps on top of that. Add much more content: more classes, more character variants, more game modes. Many players would be willing to invest in this title, whether at launch or through additional content afterward, which represents a genuinely interesting commercial opportunity for you. I'd also like to ask whether a team — internal or external — could be put together specifically for this project. I understand the original team may not be available anymore, but I believe a motivated, well-supported studio could absolutely pick this up and make it a success. The PvZ discount promotion of PVZ has attracted many numbers of BfN are also high. I also see that many new players need help. But there is currently no news about the new PVZ game, I have been looking forward to the new PVZ game (not PVZ3). I will never know what happened behind PVZ, why BfN had a short development time, and why a leaked role-playing game was cancelled. To be honest, I feel very regret. I think the commercial value of PVZ is still high, but why haven't seen any new works for a long timeSolved68KViews190likes2881CommentsUnban from Save Corruption (Ban Exploit) in PvZ: Garden Warfare 1
Hello everyone, If you’ve encountered the "ban exploit" issue in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 1, you’re not alone. This problem has been known since at least 2021 and is caused by malicious players corrupting your cloud save data on EA servers. What does the ban exploit look like? For EA: Hackers inject corrupted data into the cloud save of a player. When the game client tries to read that corrupted save, it crashes due to an invalid response from the EA server. For players in GW1: When launching the game, it freezes at the "Connecting to EA servers" screen and never loads. You can only close it through Task Manager. Example video showing the bug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suVhZ9P5mMc How can you fix it / get unbanned? We need only one thing: your EA ID. You can post your EA ID here on the forum, but there’s a risk it might be overlooked due to the volume of posts. To help victims more efficiently, we’ve created a dedicated Discord server where you can drop your ID. Once the unban (save fix) is done, your ID will be removed from our list. Join the Discord server here: https://discord.gg/ZYqS5AE9n8 Note: Unbanning may take a couple of days depending on the queue, so please be patient. Please help us spread the word! If you know other players affected by this issue, share this link and invite them to the server. The more attention this gets, the more players we can help. Thanks for reading, and stay strong out there. We’re doing this for the community.SolvedThe servers in GW2 being destroyed has to be addressed.
As many people in the Garden Warfare community are probably aware, there has been a major rise in hacking in PC lobbies recently. Over the last two weeks, I’ve been swapping from region to region testing Turf Takeover and the Rainbow Portal, and the majority of my games have ended with everyone becoming invisible, low gravity being enabled, players having one health, or the match otherwise being completely ruined. It has now escalated even further. In some matches, the second I spawn in, my character is launched into the skybox and the game becomes completely locked. I can’t click anything, open a menu, or leave normally. The only solution is to Alt-F4 the game. At that point, the multiplayer side of the game is basically unplayable. What makes this so frustrating is that EA and PopCap still sell the game, including during sales, while many new players may have no idea how bad the hacking problem currently is. I’ve seen other players post about these issues too, including concerns about hackers affecting player levels, but there still doesn’t seem to be any clear response or solution. That is a shame, because Garden Warfare 2 is genuinely an amazing game at its core. It has dozens of characters, fun story missions, Garden Ops, Turf Takeover, and a ton of replayability. The wacky Plants vs. Zombies style gives it a personality that very few shooters have. When the game works, it is still one of the most fun multiplayer shooters out there. But in its current state on PC, I can’t recommend it for multiplayer. The hacking situation has made the game unreliable and frustrating, and it makes me more cautious about EA and PopCap products going forward. It also makes me concerned about the future health of the Plants vs. Zombies franchise, especially with PVZ3 on the way, if the existing community is being left in this state. My PVZ GW2 save file has been rolled back
I purchased PVZ GW2 from the Steam platform on May 31st this year. This issue first occurred around June 20th, and it has occurred sporadically every time I launch the game and leave the EA server's multiplayer mode. The symptoms include character level drops, character statistics reversion, and completed missions refreshing again, while stars and coins remain unchanged. My Super Elite Level 8 ordinary pea shooter could have been promoted to Master after occupying the grass in a game of Wall-Nut Hill, but when I returned to the backyard, I found that his level was still Level 8. On the third day, I played a few rounds of Garden Warfare, and the pea shooter could have been promoted long ago, but when I logged in next time, he was still at Super Elite Level 8. I think this is due to a hack on the server or a new bug. Now almost every PVZ GW2 player has this issue, and I am worried that my character will no longer be able to advance at a normal speed in the future. Regardless, this issue is accelerating the death of this gameUnable to launch GW1 Plants Vs Zombies (Thinking of refunding)
I am unable to launch PVZGW1 from the EA launcher. When I click play I am met a second later with the message "Failed to launch game, an error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later." I have tried restarting my laptop, reinstalling the game as well as changing settings such as disabling the EA overlay. If not fixed I will begrudgingly refund this game soon, so I scenery hope this reaches someone. Thank you in advance![Resolved] Change the Mystery Portal Rotation, Please!
There are multiple achievements that are unobtainable at the moment (Check this post for more information about them) There are 5 achievements tied to game modes you cannot play anymore. How you used to play these game modes is when they would go live in the Town Hall Mystery Portal for a limited time. In January back in 2020, the Mystery Portal was changed. PopCap stopped supporting Garden Warfare 2 to continue development on Battle for Neighborville. To avoid shutting down the Mystery Portal, they made the Mystery Portal automated by making it rotate game modes based off of a list of what to play dependent on what month. The problem with this rotation is that they didn't include any live event game modes that have achievements tied to them. So at the moment, getting all GW2 achievements is actually impossible. (Check the post I linked above for what they are.) Current Rotation: - January: Lawn-A-Thon 1 - Febuary: Lawn-A-Thon 2 - March: Legends of the Brawl - April: Capture the Taco - May: Tactical Team Up - June: To Heal or Not - July: Rando's Rapid Revenge - August: Lawn-A-Thon 1 - September: Lawn-A-Thon 2 - October: Legends of the Brawl - November: To Heal or Not - December: Rando's Rapid revenge In my opinion, the most favorable option would be getting someone from the community to make a schedule everyone is happy with. A different solution that's automated, and easier to do would be exchanging some of the game mode repeats in the list for game modes like Cats vs. Dinos and Boss Hunt. For example, you can replace the repeated August Lawn-A-Thon 1 with Cats vs. Dinos, and September's Lawn-A-Thon 2 with Boss Hunt. All of the content with these game modes are in the game when you download it, so releasing an update that players need to download wouldn't be necessary. The only problem I see with this is that Boss Hunt has 4 different playable hunts, Brothers Gnomus, Yeti King, Spooky Squash, and Sasquatch. You would have to pick one of these to put into the rotation, but I think implementing a system that makes the game randomly pick one of them when you enter the portal to play is the best choice instead of picking 1 and neglecting the other 3.28KViews102likes1082CommentsEA PLEASE Fix PVZ GW2
I recently started playing this game and it is soo incredibly fun and I know many people would agree, but it wasn't long until I saw the massive hacker issue and game progression saving issue that it started to feel borderline unplayable. I'm sure so many more people would come back to this game and new players would come to the game if this game could be fixed. Please do more to fix this game.
