The Hub What’s in Season 3 The Return to Isle of Grom New Features and Improvements skate.Pass for Season 3 Updated Events Welcome to skate.’s Season 3, starting March 10, 2026, and running until June 2, 2026! Quick highlight of what’s coming in Season 3: New skateable areas: Tri Towers Garage New Challenges: Speedlines Seasonal events: Skate Paddy’s, Grom Event, Creator Challenge New Areas: Isle of Grom New and updated tricks and Skatepedia updates: Dark Tricks New Brand partners: huf and Jenkem Additional cosmetics and customization: Tattoos, more hairstyles New tracks to the soundtrack: 20 new tracks A new skate.Pass (with improvements and tuning), as well as Brands and tattoos in the skate.Pass, and introducing skate.Premium Pass+ Quality of life improvements - Improved Bonelesses, more Replay Editor features (Effects) Bug Fixes (details coming on March 10, 2026 via the 0.30.0 patch notes) With Season 3: Fluid Flashback, we’re “going back” to skateboarding’s first major era, when the sport began to evolve rapidly. Back when polyurethane wheels replaced clay and metal ones, skating became more accessible and appealing. So what’s in Season 3? Parts of the city have gotten a 70s-inspired makeover, featuring new locations to explore (including a skateable shortcut through the Tri Tower Parking Garage and the newly opened Isle of Grom Water Taxi in Hedgemont). We’ve also added enhanced features in the Replay Editor, new tricks, and a large variety of customization—170 skater clothing options, 140 skateboard options (including decks, wheels, trucks, stickers), 13 new gestures, and over 52 tattoos. Fluid Flashback puts the 70s back in focus with vibrant colors and bold designs. The update replaces neon accents with period-inspired hues, expanding these looks across Rolling Waves, The Block Party, House of Rolling Reverence, Eelside Tunnels, The Skateway, and other new skateable areas. We’re also opening up a shortcut through Tri Towers Parking Garage, as a new place to hit a fresh sesh in San Van. The Return of Isle of Grom Like we mentioned in the last Dev Update, we’re headed back to the Isle of Grom. But trust—it’s not the old tutorial spot you remember. The Full Circle crew’s been putting in work, flipping the place with all-new lines and even bigger skate vibes. Hit the Water Taxi in Hedgemont and head over for new Challenges and an updated Isle of Grom. Quick reminder: Season 3 skate.Premium Pass members will be able to hit Isle of Grom early, starting March 10, 2026 until April 14, 2026, and then we’ll hold a grand opening for everyone with a multi-week event on April 14, 2026. After the event ends on May 5, access to Grom will be available through the skate.Premium Pass or via a Water Taxi Day Pass (valid for 24 hours from purchase) using 500 Rip Chips (earnable through completing Challenges and Tasks) per Day Pass. Exact dates are subject to change. We’re really stoked to bring you even more on the island! Get ready for fresh new spots to skate and explore, bigger hills to bomb, and massive gaps to send. We’ve taken inspiration from Skate 2 and 3 to deliver epic spillway action that’s going to blow your mind. Plus, we’ve packed in a ton of Tasks and Challenges to keep you on your toes while you’re out there shredding. And here’s the best part—we’ve got an awesome surprise dropping in April with a special in-game event that everyone can get hyped about and jam together. Get ready to dive in! New Features and Improvements New Mode: Speedlines Similar to Line Challenges, but focuses on moving as fast as possible. There are two types of Speedlines: Technical and Time Trial. Let the best line-for-time videos begin. Speedlines will be available in San Van and on Isle of Grom. Technical Speedlines* You already got a sample of these in Season 1 and 2 as we experimented with them. And now we’ve got them as an actual mode. These speedlines mimic our current line challenges, but they add a time criterion that must also be met. These speedlines aim to combine technical skill with speed, and the challenge for the player is often to complete all other criteria while maintaining their momentum. Time Trial Speedlines* These speedlines will feature multiple time criteria that increase in difficulty. These speedlines try to encourage the player to find the quickest route possible while picking up all the tokens. *Note: Technical and Time Trial are the types of Speedlines, but will not be labelled as such in-game. They will be differentiated by the tasks in the challenges. If you see tricks, it’s Technical. If you see the SVCC times to beat, that’s a Time trial. GO FAST! New Feature: Loadouts Changing your skater’s customization is a lot easier in Season 3, as we’re introducing skater loadouts. You’ll start out with 3 character loadouts to configure, where you can save your skater customization, style, deck setup, gestures, etc. More will be available to purchase via 250 SVB in-game, with a max of 10 slots. New Customization: Tattoos Time to get inked! We’re bringing tattoos to your skater in Season 3, and opening up the Tattoo Parlor in the Extravert Shop. You’ll be able to grab some tattoos through the skate.Pass (Standard and Premium tracks), the in-game rotating shop, and the Tattoo Shop section of the Essentials section of the Extravert store. For the first iteration of tattoos, you can place them on your arms and legs, and you can resize, reposition, and rotate. As this feature continues to expand, we’ll have more details. But first, a quick Q&A from one of the team members who worked on tattoos for skate.: We’re super excited tattoos are coming to skate. in Season 3. What can you tell us about the designs? Well we worked really hard to ensure the design approach matched what you would expect in the real world. We broke down the stenciling process to better understand how to layer color or grayscale, and kept the themes close to what you’d see on flash sheets. We even partnered with a couple amazing Austin-based tattoo artists. Were there any challenges to having realistic tattoos added in game and have them able to be applied to a variety of body shapes, sizes, and skin types? I think the most R&D went into tattoo design was ensuring we did our due diligence for inclusivity. We wanted to make sure we were capturing negative space as skin, which required a fair amount of work from both the teams designing the tattoos and the team implementing them in the engine, to ensure the designs show up on a variety of skin tones in the game. We aimed to offer more than one style of tattoo, from Stick and Poke to American Traditional to Realism to provide a variety of options to accommodate different skin tones and personal preferences. What’s your favorite in-game tattoo design that’s showing up in Season 3? I have three! The Reaper Side and the Four-Eyed Lady are my favorites. They really demonstrate the boldness of American Traditional tattoos, which is my personal preference when I get tattooed. Also, with Fuzzy Scorpion, we really tried to capture the look of a DIY tattoo, good or bad. How many designs are going to be available in Season 3? We have 52 unique tattoo designs throughout Season 3. Do I have to pay for all of the tattoos? What SVB range will they fall into? Will there be tattoo packs available? There are many ways to get tattoos in-game. Default tattoos are available in the character menu, as are earnable or purchasable tattoos through the skate.pass, unlocked as mission rewards, and earnable in our first season event. Currently, there’s no tattoo packs to acquire, but we will keep expanding how we bring tattoos to San Van. Will more placements be available soon? Over time, we would like to expand the number of available tattoo placement slots and offer more options for moving tattoos around. Can you share anything about what’s coming down the pipe with Tattoos? We want to continue bringing on new tattoo artists as we progress. There is a level of authenticity that is invaluable through these partnerships, and it’s been a fun experience to see what each artist comes up with based on a phrase or idea. We’re very excited for everyone to see the UI update in-game. New & Improved Tricks Dark Tricks You asked for them - and have been asking for them - so they’re back: Dark Tricks are coming day one in Season 3. They took a little while, but they are finally here and better than ever. Here’s what you can do starting in Season 3 with Dark Tricks. And you can add some extra steeze by performing Late Dark Tricks - just make sure you land it, or you’ll go sprawling. Developer’s Note: We needed to make some large changes to how Bonelesses were originally implemented in order to improve their consistency and quality. A side effect of these underlying changes was the removal of some Boneless-specific “pop glitches.” We’re gonna update Skatepedia, so if you need to brush up on your moves or catch some fresh trick tips, it’s all there. Don’t sweat it—just cruise through, catch the vibe, and you’ll be pulling off those tricks like a total pro. Replay Editor Additions and Improvements We’re bringing more features and tools to the Replay Editor in Season 3. With this update to the Replay Editor, we’re hooking you up with new Effects to make your footy look even cleaner. Time to get creative and show off those clips in true style! Effects Tab will allow you to adjust: Exposure - adjust the brightness Color Temperature - cool tones or warm tones to add variety to your clips Color Saturation - increase or decrease the color vibrancy Barrel Distortion - which can help achieve a fisheye lens effect; make sure you’re keeping your lens wide (larger FOV) to really lock it in Vignette - subtle darkening of the edges to draw the viewer’s focus to the center Opacity Size Sharpness More granular volume control Your skater's audio, other skaters' audio, and world ambience Playback speed can now be keyframed, so you can slo-mo one keyframe section, then speed up the next keyframe section Dive in. We can’t wait to see the content you create with the new replay editor features, so share it with us on social and community channels, or drop your videos on skate.REEL for a chance to be featured on our carousel. New Settings and UI Improvements Opt-In Party Collision You’ve asked for collision, and we’re bringing it to parties. When in a party, you’ll be able to toggle collision on/off and let the chaos ensue with your friends. As development continues, we’ll look for other places to bring this fun. The setting is disabled by default in the menus, and collision only occurs if everyone in the party has it enabled. It’s experimental, and there will be bugs - or even some weirdness in the goofy fun of collisions in parties. Throwdowns Notifications for nearby throwdowns with the ability to opt-in or out. Control over what Throwdown notifications you see so you don’t clutter your UI. Sense of Speed Audio Improvements Improved passbys and tunnel transitions End of Challenge Celebration During the celebration screen for Co-Op Challenges, your skater can now gesture and celebrate! Default gesture played = the gesture equipped in your first slot. Player override - You can override the gesture played at any time. Player Activity Visualization Indicators beside the player name when those players are in an activity, in the menu, or away. You’ll know what folks are doing when you roll up to them. Challenges and Tasks Monthly seasonal events aren’t the only thing to do during Season 3. We’ll have 50+ new Seasonal and Event Challenges, plus returning Challenges and Tasks from previous seasons – spread out through Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Event tasks. There is an additional stuttering issue present when using the replay editor in-game, noticeable as skipped frames. Progression and rewards for some completed Tasks fail to apply to the player's account. Workaround: Restarting skate fixes this issue, but your Task progress may be lost. The player needs to press the Back button two times for the missions menu to close. The Score with Sequences and Modified Grabs daily and weekly task does not appear for some players and cannot be progressed. Transferring from one Challenge to a Co-op Challenge via invite sometimes results in server disconnection. The Throwdowns queue timer freezes after all other players leave the queue. Lip color and Board Stickers are invisible when running a NVIDIA card on driver 591.44 or newer. Skaters are unintentionally pulled into random co-op challenges. The player gets into a menu state while any narrative VO line triggers with subtitles off. Tweaking skate's. graphical settings can cause the fullscreen resolution to switch to 640x480. Workaround: Rename the %localappdata%\skate\data folder or delete the folders that have numbers in that folder tree. Rarely, when interacting with a player and joining their party, you will accidentally join another player’s party. The Friends fails to load completely on accounts with large amounts of friends. All footplant tricks are incorrectly named when in Regular stance. Known Issues Still Being Investigated: The notification denoting when a friend comes online can randomly trigger multiple times. Rarely when players enter the Store tutorial, the Social Menu accidentally opens instead, and the controller becomes briefly unresponsive. The game sometimes crashes when a fourth player joins your Party. Scrolling through Session Type options in the Throwdowns menu causes descriptions to mismatch with the selections. Event challenge criteria sometimes fail to update after completion. When travelling as a party to the Isle of Grom, if the party leader has a menu open while the timer is ticking, the timer will get stuck at 0. Workaround: Canceling the queue will resolve this issue. Adjusting your video settings on PC can cause other settings to change. After accepting a skate. party invite via Xbox Live or PlayStation Network, the invite reappears after the player is already in the party they were invited to. Spin degrees in the trick feed are sometimes inaccurate. Graphical glitches are present in the UI on PCs using AMD GPUs. Workaround - AMD: Go to AMD's driver site and find your graphics card from the "Search or Browse Drivers" section. Click on "Previous Versions" and download the one labeled "Adrenalin 25.12.1." Download and Run the AMD Cleanup Utility. Reboot, and then run the Adrenalin 25.12.1 installer. Reboot again and launch the game.286Views2likes0Commentsskate. 0.30.1 Patch Notes
Welcome to the 0.30.1 patch notes! The maintenance period for this patch begins on March 10, 8:55 a.m. PDT, and includes bug fixes, new features, gameplay improvements, and more for all platforms. Originally, this patch was going to be released as 0.30.0, but we had the ability to add a few more bug fixes to address pressing issues, so it will now be released as the new and improved patch 0.30.1. If you haven’t yet, take a look at our Season 3 article to learn more about your Return to Isle of Grom, and new skateable areas, Challenges, Seasonal Events, brands, soundtracks, and more coming to skate. in Season 3. For more details about Isle of Grom, visit our Season 3 article. Dark Catches and Darkslides Darkslides and Dark Catches are a fan favorite, returning from previous Skate games with some new improvements. Getting into a Dark Catch is done by holding RB/R1 before or right after performing any flip trick (including Impossible flip tricks from Season 2). Landing into a slide on a rail or ledge while holding a Dark Catch will start a Darkslide, which can now also be leaned and grind adjusted. When exiting, you can Flip Trick out to get some pop with it, or lean exit to ride out smoothly. You'll also find a few new settings to control when and how Dark Catches and Slides are released. Visit Skatepedia for more information about these new tricks. Developer’s Note: After getting the foundational mechanics into a good place, we're excited to add Darkslides and Dark Catches to skate. Similar to our approach with most legacy mechanics, we wanted to ensure Darkslides and Catches feel familiar, are integrated with other new additions to the franchise—such as flip speed control and grind leans—and have been expanded upon to provide more self expression. Tasks Expanded and diversified Tasks, including new varieties that can be completed conveniently while skating. Developer’s Note: We received feedback that some of the previous Tasks were too difficult or tedious to complete. In response, we’re introducing a wider variety of Tasks designed to complement your skating experience, rather than dominate it. Party Collision This feature allows you to collide with others in your party while skating together, adding to the chaos (and fun) of your seshes. Party Collision is disabled by default, but can be enabled in the Settings tab of the Social menu. Developer’s Note: You may experience collision accuracy and timing discrepancies when using this setting. We hope you enjoy this chaotic, but fun, new way to play with your party, and look forward to your feedback. Character Customization Options 4 new Hair and 5 Tattoo options have been added to the Character Customizer. Developer’s Note: 32 ** additional Tattoos can be acquired from Missions, the Skate Paddy’s event, the skate. Pass (Standard and Premium), and the new Essentials Shop. Skater Presets You can now configure up to 3 unique Skater Presets, including appearance and clothing. Additional preset slots can be purchased for 250 San Van Bucks. Maximum 10 slots. Store Up to 5 Product Boxes can now be bought in a single purchase, making your transactions more streamlined. An Essentials Shop was added to the Store, with options for Tattoos, Boards and more. Gameplay Improvements Bonelesses Improved responsiveness, reliability, and behavior of Boneless tricks performed from the ground or transitions. This change also applies to Fastplants and Bean Plants. Developer’s Note: We needed to make some large changes to how Bonelesses were originally implemented in order to improve their consistency and quality. A side effect of these underlying changes was the removal of some Boneless-specific “pop glitches.” Seasonal Missions Some Missions are now only available for the duration of the season they release in. Replay Editor Added an Effects Tab that lets you control Exposure, Color Temperature, Color Saturation, Barrel Distortion, and Vignette (Opacity, Size, Sharpness). Added more granular volume control over your skater's audio, other skaters’ audio, and world ambience. Playback speed can now be keyframed as well. Developer’s Note: Pair the Barrel Distortion effect with a wide Field of View to get that classic Fisheye effect you know and love. UI Improvements Throwdowns A notification system to highlight nearby Throwdowns has been added. You can toggle this feature on via the settings and also control the types of Throwdown notifications you see. Sense of Speed Audio Improvements Improved passbys and tunnel transitions Challenge Celebrations During the celebration screen for Challenges and Throwdowns, your skater’s first equipped Gesture will be played. You can control the Gesture that’s performed by using LB/L1 and the D-pad. Tasks Weekly and Monthly Tasks are now grouped in the UI for increased readability. Player Status A status communicating whether you’re in an activity, menu, or away has been added to the Social and Spectate menu. Store You can now preview items in the Store by hovering over them. We’ve also added a side navigation bar to make browsing the Store more efficient. PC Graphics and Performance Updates Replacing PC benchmark To give you a better PC performance experience, we're updating how we score users Render GPUs and CPUs based on live data. The new scoring system will slot each card into a more accurate global graphics quality tier. This change could potentially move some players up or down in visual quality, in favor of a better performance experience. If you’ve been having performance issues, try resetting your graphics settings to default. Render FPS Adds an explicit 30/60/uncapped FPS render setting. "Uncapped" FPS render setting runs at up to 240 FPS Improves handling of FPS in full-screen mode, particularly when other refresh rates are chosen. V-Sync Defaults V-Sync to ON as we believe this will give most players a better experience. Improves handling of V-Sync in full-screen mode. Minimum global graphics quality New global graphics quality introduced that reduces render settings for devices that don't meet our min spec. Skate PC Min Spec Updates We’ve analyzed our PC min specs and have updated it to ensure a smoother playing experience. Hardware below the minimum specs can still play but will be placed into the minimum global graphics quality. Render GPU High AMD: Changed from Radeon RX 6600 XT to Radeon RX 6700 XT Ultra NVIDIA: Changed from GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Render CPU Low AMD: Changed from AMD Ryzen 3 3100 to Ryzen 3 3300X Medium AMD: Changed from Ryzen 5 3500 to Ryzen 5 3600X High Intel: Changed from Core i7-9700 to Core i7-9700K High AMD: Changed from Ryzen 5 3600 to Ryzen 5 3600XT Ultra Intel: Changed from Core i7-11700 to Core i7-11700K Bug Fixes Gameplay Fixed multiple issues that prevented Neighborhoods from unlocking. Rarely when players enter the Store tutorial, the Social Menu accidentally opens instead, and the controller becomes briefly unresponsive. Scrolling through Session Type options in the Throwdowns menu causes descriptions to mismatch with the selections. The game sometimes crashes when a fourth player joins your Party. Adjusting your video settings on PC can cause other settings to change. After accepting a skate. party invite via Xbox Live or PlayStation Network, the invite reappears after the player is already in the party they were invited to. When travelling as a party to the Isle of Grom, if the party leader has a menu open while the timer is ticking, the timer will get stuck at 0. Workaround: Canceling the queue will resolve this issue. The progression bar sometimes incorrectly tracks your progress during Tasks.140Views2likes0CommentsThe Weekly Grind - March 3, 2026
Welcome back to The Weekly Grind. Let’s get to it! What’s going on? Spring Pop-Off has ended, and we’ve got a week before Season 3 starts. We shared a clip of darkslides on Monday, with more details on Season 3 coming this week (Season 3 blog drops Thursday, March 5, 2026) like updated Replay Editor features, a new skateable area, the return to Isle of Grom, a new mode, and more. We’ve compiled our Show Your Fit screenshot Winners, and we’ll share them below (and they’ll be showing up on skate.reel soon). Weekly Calendar Darkslides Preview on Monday The Weekly Grind returns (that’s today) World Improvments Preview (also today) Season 3 Blog Coming Up Update 0.30.0 Patch Notes Season 3 drops March 10, 2026 Check the Dark slides clip again if you missed it. We mentioned that darkslides and dark catches have been improved since previous games, heres an example of what we fixed in skate. vs skate 3. The board rotation didn't always match the trick into dark slide or catch in skate 3, so now you'll actually get the full trick before catching dark. And the World Improvements we shared earlier today. As usual, we wanted to share a few pieces of content that caught our eye. Remember: if you want to possibly be featured in The Weekly Grind, make sure to share yours (screenshots, videos, clips) via skate.reel. While we love highlighting content from the community (via Discord, Reddit, etc.), we’ll use this space to share the Show Your Fit screenshot contest winners’ pics. Show Your Fit Screenshot WINNERS (currently getting shipping info and will be sending the decks out this week; clips should be up on skate.REEL soon) YT-KAGE HelenaHerewauld Part of The Weekly Grind will be dedicated to sharing current Known Issues the team is tracking for bugs & issues, any active deployments/fixes, and next steps. To Be Fixed in the Coming Weeks: There is an additional stuttering issue present when using the replay editor in-game, noticeable as skipped frames. Visual effects details for the Blaze Costume are missing from the Extravert shop and character menus. Developer's Note: To activate the Blaze Costume's visual effects, you must hit the 4x multiplier in a line. Reboot again and launch the game. Event challenge criteria sometimes fail to update after completion. Sometimes, putting the game on fullscreen and leaving it minimized for three or four minutes will prevent the player from re-opening it until the game is restarted. Community Park tasks sometimes won’t count if you log out while within a Community Park and log back in. Workaround: Use any Fast Travel point and then return to the Community Park. The speech-to-text feature does not transcribe the words correctly.934Views3likes0CommentsDev Update: Roadmap Ahead - skate. Season 3 and Beyond
Alright San Van, you’ve got a direct connect to the devs here: Yesterday, we shared our plans for skate.Pass, the Isle of Grom, and how Early Access is setting skate. up for the long haul. Today, we’re going deeper into what you can expect in Season 3, and how we’re changing the way we handle updates going forward. Where we left off: the roadmap Our last roadmap spanned Seasons 1, 2, 3 and beyond, laying the groundwork for San Van’s first few months. With Season 3 just around the corner, let’s talk about what ‘beyond’ actually looks like. We’re shaking things up - here’s what that means: Staying focused on performance and stability Sharing roadmap updates more often – straight from the dev team Being clearer on what’s locked, what’s in development, and what’s on our radar Dropping content throughout the season, not just all at the start What that looks like We know you want straight answers about the features you’ve been asking for and where they stand in development. For anything to move forward, we have to feel confident that it’s right. Sometimes new ideas make it to the roadmap. Sometimes things get pushed back so we can dial them in. And in rare cases, something just doesn’t work and we scrap it. That’s not spin, it’s just how making games works. In Early Access, change is the name of the game. So, we’re changing the way we share info on our roadmap to reflect that. Each season, we’ll show you what’s on deck, including: A ton of exciting new content dropping at the start of the season More content and features rolling out throughout the season to keep things fresh Next, here’s what we mean when something is “in development.” Not every feature takes the same amount of time. Some just need polish. Others need deeper testing and iteration. So on the roadmap, you’ll see two buckets: In development: These are things we’re actively building and planning to release. The big question is when. Sometimes they take longer than we planned. Sometimes they don’t come together the way we hoped and we cut them. Either way, we’ll keep you posted as they move – or if they don’t. On the radar: These are ideas we’re exploring – prototypes, early concepts, or just conversations the team is having. Some of them came straight from you in the community. There is no set timeline yet for these, but if they officially move into development, we’ll call it out. We’re doing this to be clear about where things stand - and about how we work. The further out something is on the roadmap, the more room it has to shift, or sometimes, be shelved altogether. But we’d rather show you what we’re thinking, even while it’s shifting, than wait until everything is locked. That’s how we want to approach Early Access with you. For example, Open World Collection was on the last roadmap. We’ve taken it off for now so we can focus on more social features – specifically Meetups and Turn-Based Competitive Modes – which we know are high on your wishlist. We will keep these roadmaps current, and we’ll share clearer timelines and progress as we go. Thanks for sticking with us while we build this the right way for the long haul. Our Season 3 (& beyond) roadmap What’s coming in Season 3 Isle of Grom: We’re going back to the (expanded and improved) Isle of Grom in Season 3. Find details on how to access the island here. Darkslides and Dark Catches: These have been on your most wanted list for a while now, so we brought them back in a big way. You will now be able to do ANY flip trick into them - a first for Skate. Updated Bonelesses - Improved responsiveness, reliability, and behavior of boneless tricks performed from ground or transition. New Game Mode - Speedlines: Similar to Line Challenges, but focuses on moving as fast as possible. Let the best line-for-time videos begin. Tattoos: Tattoos can be placed, resized, and rotated on your arms and legs. Some are free, others can be purchased with SVB. Cosmetic Loadouts: We’re making it easier to switch up your fit. You’ll start with three loadouts (with the ability to purchase more) to quickly change your style, character, deck setup, and gestures. Branded Items in the skate.Pass: We’re bringing you more of what you want in skate.Pass. For Season 3, that means more branded items, including adidas, Vans and Thrasher. More Brand Partners: Including huf, Jenkem and more. Some of these will drop right off the bat, while others will make their debut a few weeks after the start of the season. More Replay Editor Effects: We’re adding effects like Exposure, Color Temperature, Color Saturation, Barrel Distortion, Vignette (opacity, size, sharpness), as well as more granular volume control (your skater's audio, other skaters’ audio, and world ambience), and playback speed can now be keyframed. Store V.2.0: We’re reworking our catalogue with over 200 character items, board items, and tattoos available for à la carte purchase. The store is also getting a new look, with improved navigation features. Seasonal Events: We’re making some serious changes to mid-season events. We have big things lined up for you during Season 3, including an event with a new brand partner that we know you’ll be excited about, and new Creator Challenges crafted by a special guest you'll undoubtedly recognize. Prepare to test the limits of your ability. Looking Forward In Development Again, these are features we’re actively building, but don’t have a definitive release timeline yet. As development progresses, we’ll share updates with you. New Social Game Mode - Meetups: A lightly-competitive activity where everyone on the server can jump in for chaotic, drop-in social fun. Turn-Based Competitive Game Modes - Spot Battle and S.K.A.T.E. Hell yeah. Matchmaking System: So you can quickly find people to play with instead of spamming the ‘Party Up’ emote. New World Area: A new playable indoor area is in the works. Unlockable Board Wear and Tear: Build up wear and tear on your boards - you’ll be able to turn this on/off at any time. Finger Flips: Adding another gameplay trick from the previous games. On the Radar These are the ‘early ideas’ we were talking about, including some top things on your wishlist (and ours). They’re in the early stages of planning with no defined timeline, but we’ll keep you posted as that changes. Private Servers Underflips Player Created Parks Leaderboards Proximity Chat Legacy Skate 1-3 Spots More Legacy Game Modes More Board Shapes That’s all for now, but on March 5, we’ll break down everything you can expect from Season 3’s 70s-inspired vibe. As always, thank you for hanging in with us as we make our way through Early Access. We’ve come a long way together, and we have more great things in store. Keep rollin’. The Full Circle Team401Views3likes3CommentsDev Update - Season 3: skate.Pass, Grom & Building skate. for the Long Run
Oh hello. It’s us again, the dev team. Over the next couple of days, we’re bringing you back-to-back updates to fill you in on what to expect in Season 3 and beyond! And there’s a lot to be excited about. From darkslides to grittier streets, this season we’re dropping some of the top requests from your most wanted list. But, before we get to all that good stuff tomorrow, we’ve got a few updates to cover. The big picture We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: we’re building skate. with a long-term vision in mind. This Early Access period is a huge part of that. It gives us the space to listen, learn, tweak and test - over and over - until we get things just right. Since kicking Early Access off in September, you’ve seen some of that work in progress. Your feedback has helped shape some big changes, like updating the look of our world and characters (more to come), and adding features like key frames, tilt and roll, and FOV improvements to our replay editor. Behind the scenes, we’ve still got a long list to tackle. But, we’re working on crossing off items with each season - more on that tomorrow. We’ve also heard a few things from you concerning the in-game economy: you want more real-world brands, more value, and more choice. So, we’re making a few changes in Season 3 aimed at making that happen: Brands! Way back in Season 1, you asked for brands in the skate.Pass - this season, we’re going to deliver, with adidas and more coming to the skate.Pass. Items on demand: Get the items you want, when you want them. We’re making 200+ wardrobe basics and in-demand items available for à la carte purchase. Although we’ll occasionally swap out a few items here and there to keep things fresh, the core catalogue will just keep growing. More skate.Pass options. We're adding a new Premium+ skate.Pass bundle to give you more options (and even more Tix) - you choose what works best for you. These updates are aimed at getting you more of what you want, and less of what you don’t. Believe us when we say, we’re still working on it: changing things as we go to set up skate. for success in the long run. With that in mind, let’s talk about Grom. In Season 3, the Isle of Grom is back - and we’re not just talking about the tutorial area. The island has expanded with a ton of new spots to skate and explore. Think hillbombs, massive gaps, cool transitions and some Skate 2 and 3-inspired spillway action. We think Grom is going to be one of your favorite spots and can’t wait to see what you’ll do with it. ALL players will have the opportunity to explore Grom during Season 3. But, as an added benefit for our skate.Pass Premium holders, they will get first dibs to skate Grom before anyone else. Your way into Grom Here’s how it’ll go down: for the first month at the start of Season 3, skate.Pass Premium holders will have unlimited access to Grom. After that, we’ll be holding our official grand opening - inviting all of our San Van residents to the Isle for a very special multi-week event in April. With a new brand partner making their Grom debut, you won’t want to miss it. Once the event ends, Grom access will be widely available through skate.Pass Premium, or you can grab an Isle of Grom Water Taxi day pass by using your earnable Rip Chips. The day pass will be 500 Rip Chips, is valid for 24-hours from the moment you get it, and can be used an unlimited number of times within that 24-hour window. Looking ahead: Season 3 and beyond If you’ve made it this far - thank you. We know it’s a lot of information. One last heads up before we go: at the start of Season 3, some of our SVB packs will be on sale from March 10 to March 17. Our goal remains the same. We want skate. to be a game that keeps growing and improving with our community for a very long time. Early Access is about building the foundation for that future. Tomorrow, we’ll be back again to share more of the fun stuff coming your way in Season 3 and beyond. In the meantime, thanks for rolling with us. The Full Circle Team188Views4likes0CommentsThe Grind: Vol 1
Welcome to The Grind! What is The Grind? This is our platform to talk directly to you, the community. We will share details about skate., answering your questions directly, and talk about where we’re at in development (from playtesting onward). We want The Grind to tell you everything you need to know about skate. before we open up San Vansterdam in Early Access later this year. The Grind is about you, our players, and for it to work, we need your questions. We are opening a new question submission form in the official Discord and we’ll pull questions from there for our next volume of The Grind, coming in May. Start adding your questions for the development team in the new #questions . And please – don’t hold back. Ask the questions that you really want answers to. Let’s get Vol 1 of The Grind rolling! What’s happening with the skate. Insider Playtest? In Sept 2024, we began our Always-On Playtest. This new phase tests the game in a permanent live environment, with servers running around the clock. We began with PC and mobile testing and rolled out a small wave of console test invites. In March, we invited our biggest wave of testers to date, launched the 0.26.0 playtest update, and turned on virtual currency testing for PS and PC testers. We’ve updated the city, added more challenges, updated visuals, fixed bugs from 0.25.0, and much more. As skate. Insiders share their feedback and issues, the Full Circle team is working to address these reports and continually improve the gameplay and the feel of skating in San Vansterdam. We're building this game in collaboration with the community, and that’s why these playtests and the sharing of bugs, issues, and feedback is so important. To date, we’ve invited more than 200K players into the playtest, and that massive amount of feedback (over 30K posts on the playtest forums and over 20K survey responses) has helped steer the direction of skate. and improve the gameplay and performance. So thank you, testers, for all that you’ve done so far and continue to do. And if you’re reading this and still waiting for an invite, don’t worry, we’re planning on sending out another large wave of invites in June. Just for fun, we asked our data team to share some of the things you’ve all been doing in the playtest. Check out some of the highlights of your accomplishments in San Vansterdam: More than 16 million kickflips* More than 4.8 million 50-50 Grinds landed - nothin’ but bolts! The Longest Grind (so far) – more than 200 meters! That’s about 15 school buses! More than 40 million Total Wipeouts – Ouch! More than 6.5 million Challenges completed includes varial and nollie kickflips * Now, let’s answer some of those questions you’ve asked us that need answers! Your Q’s, our A’s. Is skate. still launching in 2025? Yes! We are still planning on launching in Early Access later this year. We have an ambitious vision for skate.: an ever-growing, ever-evolving skateboarding sandbox that expands over time with the feedback of the players living in San Vansterdam. Our Early Access launch will only be Day One of that experience, a starting point from which new features, improvements, and content will be added over time. We don’t consider the Early Access launch the “finished version” of skate., and neither should you. But the skateboarding experience will be great, and you’ll have tons to do with your friends in San Vansterdam. We can’t wait to share more details about what we have planned, both for day one of Early Access and in the months that follow. We’ll be updating you regularly over the next few months so keep an eye out right here and on our official social channels to stay up to date. Will skate. have an offline mode? The simple answer: No. The game and city are designed to be a living, breathing massively multiplayer skateboarding sandbox that is always online and always evolving. You’ll see bigger things evolve, like changes to the city over time, as well as smaller things, like live events and other in-game activities. In order to deliver on our vision of a skateboarding world, the game will always require a live connection. That is probably not much of a surprise if you’ve been in our playtest. How did you come up with the name San Vansterdam? We TOTALLY conducted extensive scientific, data-driven research and didn’t just spitball names until we found something everyone didn't hate. We promise. Is cross-play/cross-progression in the playtest? Absolutely! When you load in, you can see if someone is on a console or PC with cross-play on by default. And with cross-progression, if you have access to more than one platform for playtesting, you can literally log out of one platform, and launch the playtest on the other platform, and you’ll start exactly where you logged out. Hey, I signed up but never got in. What gives? It’s nothing personal, we promise! To make our testing most effective and to ensure stability, we are providing access to testers in waves. But rest assured, before we launch into Early Access, everyone who has registered as skate. Insiders will get an invite to come playtest the game. Why are microtransactions active in the playtest? San Vansterdam will be a living skating world, and we want to effectively support ongoing development while also offering a system that feels fair and fun for all of our players. To get there, we’re running extensive testing across PC and PS (Xbox testing will be rolling out later) to catch any issues or pain points, and to ensure that the content represents a fair value for our players. We know that using real money during a playtest is a little unusual, but we think it’s the best way to properly assess and adjust the system before launch. If you see prices or other things changing over time, please understand that this is normal. And of course, you will receive the amount you spent during playtesting in San Van Bucks (SVB) when we reset for Early Access launch. What happens with any money I spend during the Playtest? Like we said, if you choose to participate in this test and spend real money, whatever you spend will be returned to you in SVB when the game launches for Early Access. If you buy $20 of SVB, you will enter Early Access with $20 worth of SVB waiting for you on the same EA account. While it’s important to us for testing, we understand some of you may feel uncomfortable spending real money in a test-phase game. So if you don’t want to spend your money right now, we totally get it, and your feedback is always important to us. Is everything “cool” going to be locked behind a paywall? We are still adjusting the in-game rewards system, including the items available with San Van Bucks and the earnable Rip Chips currency, which will allow you to grab items from Product Boxes by completing Challenges and ranking up the districts of San Vansterdam. As mentioned in The Board Room Ep 3, skate. will not have paid lootboxes. The bottom line – there will be “cool” things for you to earn and customize your character without having to spend real cash. Will there be locations on the map that will cost money? The city of San Vansterdam will grow and evolve, with new areas opening up over its lifetime. As we said in one of our first Board Room videos, we will not lock new gameplay areas behind a paywall. If a new area is added to the game world, you can access it for free. Will I have to pay to level up the stats of my character? skate. isn’t a pay-to-win game, so there will be no paying to increase your skater’s skills (there also are no skill stats to increase for your skater anyway). Your stats are in your fingers - how good you Flick-it is how good you are in San Vansterdam. Practice makes pro, not a list of numbers in a stat sheet. Thanks for joining us for the first volume of The Grind. We hope you enjoyed hearing a bit from us and having us answer your questions directly. To Be Fixed in the Coming Weeks: There is an additional stuttering issue present when using the replay editor in-game, noticeable as skipped frames. Known Issues Still Being Investigated: Tweaking skate's. graphical settings can cause the fullscreen resolution to switch to 640x480. Workaround: Rename the %localappdata%\skate\data folder or delete the folders that have numbers in that folder tree. Graphical glitches are present in the UI on PCs using AMD GPUs. Workaround: Go to AMD's driver site and find your graphics card from the "Search or Browse Drivers" section. Click on "Previous Versions" and download the one labeled "Adrenalin 25.12.1." Download and Run the AMD Cleanup Utility. Reboot, and then run the Adrenalin 25.12.1 installer. Rarely, when interacting with a player and joining their party, you will accidentally join another player’s party. Oh hello - skate. dev team here, popping back in to talk about some ch-ch-changes coming your way as we head into Season 3. To recap where we left off in November: Early Access means we’re always learning from how you play, what’s working, and what’s not. Things don’t always line up between what we intended and how things turn out in-game (you all keep us on our toes). When that happens, we tinker, we tweak, we try to improve. This is one of those moments. Let’s get right into it: starting with the transition from Season 2 to Season 3, there will be changes to how Tix work. Why we’re making this change While we’d originally intended for all Tix to be used in the season they were earned, at the end of Season 1, we had a problem. There were a number of players with more Tix than they could spend. You told us you wanted more options, more content, and more branded items. So, while we worked on that, we made the decision to roll over all Tix purchased with SVB, and a portion of earned Tix into Season 2. In some cases, this still meant players lost up to 75% of their Tix - which is not what we want. So, we’re going to try something new to reduce wasted Tix. What’s changing (aka. the important stuff, read me) Starting with the end of Season 2 and going forward, Tix will not roll over from season to season - this includes earned Tix, and those purchased with SVB. Like most games with seasonal currencies, that means you’ll need to spend your Tix in the season you’ve earned them, starting now with Season 2. But, we get it, you have a life - and your Tix shouldn’t disappear into the void if you’re busy living it on the day a new season starts. If you still have Tix at the end of a season, the game will auto-exchange items for you by utilizing those leftover Tix, aiming to get you as much value as possible. There’s still about a month left until that happens, so you still have plenty of time to spend your Tix however you choose. TL;DR: Tix will not roll over into the next season We’ll remind you in-game to use your Tix before the season ends If you forget (or life happens), auto-exchange will exchange the Tix for you on skate.Pass rewards so they don’t go to waste How it works You’re in complete control of how you spend your Tix during the season: auto-exchange will only kick in once the season ends. Here’s how it works: Auto-exchange starts on the last skate.Pass page you’ve unlocked It exchanges Tix for higher rarity items first If it runs out of items on that page, it moves backward to earlier pages Auto-exchange completes when you do not have a high enough Tix balance to obtain any more items Any Tix remaining after auto-exchange completes will be wiped Example: If you’ve earned enough Tix to unlock up to Page 7 in the skate.Pass, auto-exchange will begin on Page 7, exchange Tix for available items, then work its way down to earlier pages. Auto-exchange will not obtain items from pages you haven’t unlocked. What about the Legacy skate.Pass for skate.Pass Premium members? After the auto-exchange completes and you're in the next season, if you had skate.Pass Premium for the previous season, you'll still be able to earn Tix to unlock more tiers in the previous season's skate.Pass. Season 3 is coming soon Season 3 is just around the corner, bringing more cool stuff and less lost Tix with it. We heard loud and clear that you wanted more branded items in the skate.Pass, and we’re happy to say that you’ll start seeing that in Season 3. And, when it comes to being able to customize your skater, more options are on the way. You wanted ink - this season, you’ve got it. That’s right folks, tattoos. Head over to our socials today for a sneak peek of what we have lined up for you. As always, we’ll keep checking in on how things feel and tuning our systems until they’re just right. Keep an eye out on our channels for more Season 3 updates to come throughout this month. That’s all for now, folks. Thanks for rolling with us. The Full Circle Team144Views1like0Comments
