Blog Post
Dear DICE,
The one reason why some of us play Battlefield 2042 is because this is the only video game we own that allows for us to have as many classes as we like. I was thrilled to be able to create 8-9 different loadouts for myself (Medic, Recon, Scout, Infiltrator, Engineer, Support, Assault, Assassin, and possibly Specialist/Officer) with the exact gear I want where I want. Your team, however, has taken away this feature and replaced it with set classes, and although I wouldn't mind the Medic being the only class with the Defibrillator (which isn't a custom class that exists anymore), now not only must we change specialists in order to use different weapons but we are stuck with loadouts some of us simply are not used to.
We do not even like the no-pat specialists very much, which is not only inappropriate for a large-scale multiplayer sandbox, but also takes away from the character customization of the game experience and forces you to have to choose identities that do not fit your description. This is far different from the freedom of diversity we, as players, were allowed in Battlefield 3, 4, and V, and by your team choosing to force us to use these characters you have restricted this freedom. We, as players, would much rather play as random-appearing soldiers with customizable races and genders, like what we were allowed to do in some previous Battlefield games.
We are replying to your latest update in hopes that your team may consider returning the option of having custom classes instead of only current specialist classes; we greatly appreciate your team's hard work in giving us these set loadouts, but half of the Battlefield 2042 community finds it easier to have custom loadouts.
Also, we would like to have the option of a non-no-pat-specialist random joe/jane helmet-wearing soldier with customizable appearances, such as the ability to change a soldier character's race, gender, and helmet appearances. We also recommend that almost all players that choose the option of using a non-no-pat soldier character be restricted to either wearing helmets or campaign hats, while only legendary custom medic soldier characters have the option of wearing other covers, such as ski-masks or sweater hat beanies, or even no cover at all.
Please hear us out, DICE! We are aware and very thankful of your hard work to bring us the best battlefield experience possible. We don't want your developers on the same path your competitor Treyarch did, as they would not heed the requests of their fans. Our desire is to work with you to make changes to this game so that both your team and us players can benefit from helping each other with new ideas to make 2042 a fun, creative and successful game! We have not given up hope on this game yet.
At your service,
Superior Soldier
