Blog Post
Hi DICE folks,
This is my first post on here. 👋🏽
I’d like to firstly mention, thank you for all the hard work you’re currently putting in to this title. It’s not easy to be once admired and then loathed by fans of the franchise for a title that you put in blood, sweat and tears. As a long standing fan of the Battlefield franchise (since the days of BF2), I urge you not to lose hope with BF2042 and to persevere through this storm so that much can be learnt from the initial mistakes that were made. I recommend that you shouldn’t be afraid of acknowledging these mistakes since at the end of the day, we’re all human, everybody makes mistakes but we must decide how we learn from these mistakes and figure out how we help better correct our path for the future of the franchise and by what means.
I’d just like to say that we understand as a community that the game is in a rough place at the moment and with the support and suggestions from the community and EA, I truly believe we can evolve BF2042 back to being a much loved Battlefield title. As history has taught us from the past titles, each battlefield game has had their share of problems/bugs/issues but over time the community have been steadfast and stuck by the game and the developers in paving the way to improving various aspects of the games and making it an enjoyable for all.
As long as there’s determination and constructive feedback from both fans and developers, I believe we can help get the game on the road of recovery. I believe it’s important for there to be a degree of transparency between developers and the community to establish a level of trust and respect between both parties.
With that said, I would like to encourage DICE or the EA community managers to develop a strategy to engage with the community by means of a dedicated thread/channel for suggestions for requested features, either in these forums or on the Battlefield DISCORD server. By giving fans and developers an open platform to voice their suggestions/constructive feedback, you automatically are able to develop quick solutions to problems discovered by the community that would normally take endless hours for developers to comb through lines of code to rectify. With a medium that can provide an open discussion (like Discord) between developers and fans of the community, developers will be able to harmonise their approach with implementing features based off community feedback. All whilst there may be risk of abuse on these platforms to which I’d advise for community managers or administrators to closely monitor to filter out constructive feedback from abusive messages. All the while maintaining an open log of all suggestions (new/old/similar) it would help ease the concerns of fans and you could create a POLL styled system on DISCORD to see how fans react to specific community based suggestions and weigh their suggestions on a level of priority based off how engaged the community were with a select feature.
A suggested feature I would like to request is the ability to implement Proximity based VOIP, I’ve seen games like Insurgency Sandstorm implement this feature and it adds a massively enjoyable social experience to the game. The ability to communicate with enemy and team players adds a social layer that has been missing from the Battlefield franchise. I believe this would be a key driver in promoting the game to reach its potential and give social media Influencers, endless creative opportunities to create a massive social experience.
As a long serving fan, I happily would like to partake in improving the experience in BF2042. Feel free to contact me if I’m able to assist you or your team in any way. 👍
Kind regards,
Solid Malone
