Hi all, with a recent update folks may have noticed "approved" tags showing on their posts.

We don't want this to be a cause for alarm, and it doesn't mean your content was blocked or flagged or anything. To the contrary, it generally indicates it was posted and didn't trigger any automation.

This will also show if something was temporarily blocked then approved, of course. This is also not something to worry over, legitimate content picked up by a filter/flag in this manner will be brought live again ASAP.

It's important to know that only you can see this for your own posts. No-one other players will see those labels on your posts.

We're taking feedback and hearing questions on the appearance of this and do want to ease minds.

Also, to note for those using a non-English forum, we are aware of the bug where the Approved tag doesn't appear correctly. We already know what is causing it and and working on a fix.

I would suggest messaging a moderator to get it restored. I have had past messages get stuck labeled as spam, and even after restoring most of them—they forgot one or two.

I had one of those "Rejected" on one of my (not approved) post concerning the shopping cart thread. All I wrote was something like to give us an opt out/in option. Post was not published lol

  • Well I found out what it looks like when you are rejected...

And I re-read my post/this post, and I do not see anything abuse worthy (in fact I am trying to get it restored). At most, I mentioned, that when moderators move posts to other sections, that it makes it feel they are just throwing it to the trash bin, and that it makes me feel invalidated and disheartened... if that is censor worthy of rejection for reasons of abuse—I do think we have a problem with overly censoring.

Because usually when using "I feel" statements they are considered communication tools, that express personal emotions and needs without out right blaming others, in attempts to reducing defensiveness and conflict. So seeing something like this rejected and labeled as abuse is disconcerting.

I don't like this, mostly because it makes me wonder what kind of censorship is going on behind the scenes.  It's the internet so of course there are going to be certain words & phrases that are disallowed, but that's a pretty standard practice and I've never seen a forum feel a need to announce that a post passed those kinds of censors.  You either won't be able to submit the post with a banned word/phrase included or it will be auto-censored to asterisks.  My logical mind wants to believe that because EA probably built or commissioned their own framework for this forum the censor for those things runs after a post is submitted rather than while it's being written and the new 'approved' tag is just a reflection of that.  My skeptical mind is inclined to think that new features have been added to limit the visibility of posts with too much criticism or frustration.

Lately I've seen a lot of comments throughout other Sims communities where users are very suspicious about security breaches on mod/CC sites before the Marketplace's release and the way the Marketplace initially made it impossible to play with existing CC.  I don't give any credit to those theories myself, but it seems pretty tone-deaf on EA's part to roll out a feature that makes it look like our posts here are subject to new/additional reviews while that's the current climate of the player base.

  • My only comment is that there’s not much point in having an info tag on it if all it’s going to say is “This content was approved” - I would either remove the info tag entirely, or put something more descriptive like “this post either passed the automated spam filter or was manually approved by an admin”

    Thanks for the giggles though.

  • Good to know.  - I just spotted this on my comment made recently and was wondering what it was. Thought it was something "special" 😄

  • Just out of curiosity, if I see an "Approved" tag on my post, does that mean that I can stop worrying about whether the AI bot might censor it? I've been waiting to see whether any other forum members see my posts (looking for "Liked" tags or replies) before closing the tab that includes my posts, just in case I have to repost them without the image(s) that triggered the AI bot.

  • I was wondering if I got this because I recently had a comment removed (it confirmed an issue, with a tangent comment still on subject, as it is a broader problem not isolated to 1 item/bug report). So it was on subject in terms of thumbnails showing incoherently in Sims 4 (with a mild tease/criticism in regards to the devs), and it was removed. So seeing this today did get my attention. That maybe I was tagged as spam again (it happened months ago, all my posts were en mass removed, but eventually restored).

My concern is overly censoring content (because of or not because of this new feature), especially from long standing members giving feedback. Censoring (EVEN if it is to help keep more on subject), can be counter-productive (and create more backlash), and make a user/player feel unnecessarily silenced. During a time when people are a little more upset at the franchise (I am concerned for the franchise but not upset), a censoring of a comment mildly teasing/criticizing the devs, shouldn't be taken so sensitively. Especially, how I believe I speak a fair tone both for and against specific issues regarding the devs.

I think at most I am cheeky to mildly intense, so being overly censored for a game/franchise, I have been passionate and supportive of—is very disconcerting. I have also have provided forum feedback via zoom meetings, and I mentioned the over censoring then too. So yes, I am interested in what this new feature means in it's entirety.
