newest update 'license invalid' WTF
since the latest update unable to play sims 4,because apparantly EA is dumb. I tried all their fixes even some from reddit NOTHING unable to start the GAME at all. how does a license be INVALID? Having the original CD ROM does jack,because origin needs to connect to internet WOW EA...at least keep ORIGIN open for such things. So i UNINSTALLED EVERYTHING and re instlled NOTHING. SO annoying that i have to search myself cos EA aint doing NOTHING
Easy way to fill in the blanks of my packs?
Hello All, I am recently decided to install the game on my new PC and start playing again. I have also gotten an upscale of my income and I wanted to get up to date with all the packs, kits etc. My question is, is there an easy way/screen to go to where I can see which packs I already own and then simply bundle/purchase the packs i do not own...to fill in the gaps? I noticed this when I tried to make a simulated purchase of a pack I know I already own (Get To Work pack) and it was willing to take me all the way to the purchase button without any attempt to alert me "You already own this pack". It would be especially helpful if the EA store would simply stamp a pack as "Owned" to make it easier. I was surprised at how difficult the purchasing process is. Am I missing something? First Time Install -> Crash On Launch
Hello! Not sure where else to turn. I have done 2 complete uninstalls/reinstalls of both the EA app and TS4. Have removed all expacs. I have cleared cache. I have ran as administrator. I have updated drivers accordingly with their software. I have updated windows to its latest possible iteration. Restarted computer between each change. The same thing happens every time. I open the EA desktop app and launch vanilla Sims 4. Window shows big blue Maxis symbol and The Sims 4 insignia. Window closes and I'm staring at the launcher again. Any help would be appreciated. This PC runs heavier games right out of the box without a sweat, so I'm struggling to understand why this wont even launch. Attached is the file from dxdiag. If another crashlog is needed, please let me know where to find it and I will attach it promptly.
Error Code: EC:204 (can't play offline, says "game license has expired")
Whenever EA puts out a game update, I don't update immediately and switch to playing offline for a week or more (depending on how bad it is) while I wait for mods to be updated and for the worst of the new bugs and glitches to be resolved. I've done this since the EA App was released without issue. So the EA App updated shortly before the 7/23 game update and when I went to play offline last night, I discovered I suddenly couldn't. I click on "go offline" and it shows Sims 4 as an installed game, but now when I click play, instead of launching the game offline as usual, I'm getting an error message telling me that the game license has expired and that I need to launch the game to renew the license and gives the Error Code: EC:204. I've never had this issue before. So now I cannot play the game at all as I've seen how lit it is out on the bug report forum and there's no way I'm updating my game right now with all the issues the patch has created. And I can't go "online" with the game without it automatically pushing the update. Is anyone else having this issue with playing offline right now? And is anyone aware of a work around? (Note: I have already logged out and back in, uninstalled and reinstalled the EA App, cleared the cache, restarted my PC, and ensured by XBox and EA accounts aren't linked (they never were).)

I, like many others, am running into the "the game license has expired" error when trying to play offline despite owning this game for the better part of 7 years. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps and it reached the point where EA support told me to post here so...here I am.
Can't interact with objects or other sims
I'm playing on PC. LMB works to open options, build/buy mode, phone, all UI menu tabs. But I can't click/interact with objects such as toilets, televisions, couches, etc, or other sims. I tried repairing the game through the EA app, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, playing in fullscreen, windowed, and windowed fullscreen, and disabling mods and CC. I'm having this issue with every sim on every lot in every save. I can't figure out what's going on, please help!! I thought it might be related to the Grim Reaper event but it doesn't seem like anyone else is having this issue.
Sept 2024 update broke loading screen to main menu and exiting cas
I carried out the update yesterday. Updated every mod I had that I was aware needed updating, at first I could get into the game but the game would crash going out of CAS whether it was live mode, from the household management or a new save etc so I went OK must be a mod. Dragged out the entire mod folder from my game to be sure, tested it. Still faulting. Removed the entire sims 4 folder so all saves, trays etc will be new, still happening while 100% vanilla. Uninstalled and reinstalled sims, repaired for probably the 07th time. Now when I try to go in (still vanilla, no saves or tray files etc, no mods at all) I get stuck at the loading screen like it can't progress to the main menu option. I've managed to get into the game, but after going into CAS still crashes on exit, ticked to use the direct x9 which seems to have rectified the cas issue except every second attempt im still stuck at the loading screen for the main menu to get into any saves. I've already done every basic troubleshooting method I can think of, just wanting to know if anyone else is stuck like this?reaper's rewards broken
the 'plant a lily' and 'plant a snapdragon' wont complete, regardless of how many sims i have had plant snapdragons and lilies across saves. does anyone know how to fix this, or if there are any cheats i can use to progress? im unable to do any of the week 2 quests because of this, and i dont want to miss out on everything because the game is broken
Why Does My Screen Look Like This After Update?
This is what my screen looks like when I go to play with Sims 4. I have reinstalled and uninstalled the game but my screen still looks like this for me. I have plenty of storage and memory on my computer to play this game. I only started having this issue after I did this week's update. Please HELP!!!
My Sims4 Crashes on Startup
I have this issue for months. I did not pay enough attention to know if it was when a specific update came out, but I know it's been happening since at least June. My game crashes upon launch every time - it gets to the Sims4 and then completely crashes. I have uninstalled/reinstalled/repaired countless times. I have tried launching from both EA and Steam. I used to play with mods, but when the crashes started I deleted all of them - so no mods to worry about. Reading through the other posts here, I've also tried checking my ConfigOverride, using a clean game folder, updating drivers, launching in windowed/fullscreen. I'm not sure what else to do ?! I have put hundreds of dollars into this game and 800+ hours, and I just want to play again. Please help! I'm at my wits end. I have attached my dxdiag. THANK YOU!
The sims 4 doesn't open
Whenever I want to open the sims 4 it doesn't open, and on my screen appears a link to how to delete cache, I tried it but it doesn't help, I tried to reinstall ea app, tried to fix game but nothing helps, also I can't find anywhere the sims 4 folder on my laptop. Does anyone know how to fix it?
Can't launch the sims 4 anymore
When i try to launch the game i keep getting a message that the file isn't found. I need to repair the game and when i do it keeps telling me there is a permission error. I've already emptied the cache, uninstalled and re-installed, repaired the game numerous times and nothing seems to stick! Sometimes the game will start and i can play it with no problems and when i close the game, shut down my laptop and try to launch the game a few hours later it suddenly doesn't work anymore... I don't use any mods or cc!!

add ons not working
i have spent over 500 pounds on adding extra content to my sims 4 for over 6 years now. I opened up my laptop this morning to find that it says that i can’t play on any of my saved worlds as i didn’t have the packs required. I have tried everything but still no hope, i hope that i can somehow get them back without having to pay another 500 pound as i love the sims 4
Long initial load time and can't connect to gallery
About a month ago, the initial load time to get to the menu took a lot longer than normal. When I got to the menu, it was different because I wasn't connected to the internet. The gallery wouldn't connect. I continued playing this way for about 2 weeks. Then, without changing anything on my computer, it loaded fast and I was connected. I was able to get the first week rewards from the Reaper. 5 days ago it started loading slow with no connection again. I'm able to complete the Reaper events, but can't claim the rewards due to not being connected. I tried turning off anti-virus/firewall, moving Mods folder out, moving The Sims 4 folder out, flushing dns, repairing the game, switching from ethernet to Wifi. Nothing works. Any suggestions?
DisplayName field missing from registry
I keep getting a pop up when I go to launch the sims 4 game. It asks me to login, which I do, then I go to click play again. Then it pops up again, I have restarted the app, I have logged out of the app and back in, I repaired the game. I can't think of anything else to do, has anyone had this issues before?

So Ea app told me to repair it and it wouldn't bc of permission error. I uninstalled and installed the app again and when trying to download the sims again the same error would apear. I created a new ea games folder... still the same error. I tried looking up the permissions on the ea folder and could change nothing. I´m not sure if it is a Technical Issue but.... sinc the last Update i have a lot of Items across all expansion packs that are invisible. For example: I went to the Library in Britechester and i cant see any Bookshelf. In the screenshot i moved with my mous to one bookshelf, not even then i can really see the Item. There is no issue with using the items just a visual issue. No I´m not using all expansion packs. Yes I´m using mods/cc Its a new safe file for the Super Sim Challange. I didnt even start the challange right. Just finished building the house and then when directliy to the library.Update problems / General issues
Since I updated the game, I have not been able to save with save and exit or normal save it worked once but now I just get stuck in the screen, I haven't tried it yet but I have seen a work around using save as, I am currently uninstalling and reinstalling the game to see if that helps but this has been happening since the September update with grim rewards. I do use mods, and I have been for quite some time, but this has never been an issue. I've checked through my mods folder deleting anything I think might be at fault as well as running scans with mccc and better exceptions, but nothing seems to be fixing this issue I've never had this problem before, and any help will be greatly appreciated.
The EA App and TS4 won't launch
My Sims 4 won't launch. I have removed all mods from the 'Mods' folder. I have taken the 'Sims 4' folder out of the ‘Electronic Arts’ folder and tried launching with no success. The game has been launched after the recent update, so I dont think it's due to that. The game worked with no issues 12 hours ago. I'm experiencing constant crashes whenever I try to play the game. I've already cleared the cache, updated drivers, repaired the game, enabled DirectX 11, restarted my computer, removed all mods, ran it as admin, and repeated these steps multiple times. However, I keep receiving a pop-up that says "unable to start." I've also attached my Dxdiag and a screenshot of the pop-up. I even tried starting as a clean user by removing the Sims 4 folder, but nothing has changed.
Game Freezing While Trying to Exit
Well, I've heard many people are experiencing trouble with the game, having issues that include freezing game, etc.; I'm not sure if anyone is having this exact same issue as I am though; I've been building in game, I haven't been playing for a while so I'm not going on live mode, I just start game, load my save and go straight into build mode, everything was fine up until two or three days ago, I can build, save, etc., but when I try to exit game it just freezes the screen and I have to restart my computer, I've tried exiting to main menu and then exiting but I get stock in the loading screen and never make into the main menu. Can anyone help me? I won't access the game again because I can't restart my PC every time I go into the game 😔So Saddened & Disappointed - Any Simmers Relate?
I never thought I would do this as an avid Sim lover and player for over 15 years. But, I have reached a point where I am discouraging people from purchasing the game or purchasing new packs all together. Context: I went three years without playing due to not having a PC and finally (solely to play the game) got one in May of this year with great specs and I am so saddened by what I’ve returned to. This is the most buggy, dysfunctional, frustrating experience I’ve ever had. I can’t play the game for more than 15 minutes without it literally shutting down in my face, and once I fix that, EA sneaks in another update and before I can stop the install, my game is broken again - this last patch is taking the cake for me. Game will not even function with no mods or CC, just base game play and some packs and yet, it’s still a completely broken game. The only things that function seamlessly are CAS and Build Mode, so you’ll spend hours building something that you can’t play. So crazy that I can’t enjoy the things I’ve paid for at their most basic, bare bones level! I even let the game just run for a few hours and let my Sims autoplay and it STILL broke. I have tried bug fixing for houuurs and commented on so many forums I’ve just decided to stop because the game that I paid for, and bought a PC for, that is not only still being sold but constantly has new releases and packs should work without a labyrinth of manipulation tatics and constantly hard resetting my PC (crazy run-on sentence but I’m frustrated so forgive me). Maybe instead of constantly flushing out new broken packs, improve the quality of the game at its current state?! I’m so disappointed and almost hurt by EA’s lack of response to the continuous negative feedback they have been receiving. Mostly, I’m saddened that a game I once loved and spent hundreds of dollars and thousands of hours on has come to this. I genuinely love this game and have so many fond memories playing it but this is starting to feel like a joke. I hope things can come around soon. I don’t know if there’s a petition somewhere but send it my way because this ridiculous. Hopefully, things will improve but boy am I disappointed about what I’ve come back to.Mods keep being disabled even after update
Idk what it was with the last two updates but each time I load the game up, my mods are disabled even though I keep enabling them and restarting the game. I know certain mods have to be updated when the game gets an update so they don't conflict with gameplay but I've tried it several times and even deleted and reinstalled the game, repaired the game, and erased game data. I've tried to use several different mods separately but they keep saying the same thing (mods have been disabled) and it's quite becoming really annoying. Is there anyone who could explain this or help me out in any way?
after the update the game does not start
This afternoon I played the sims without problems. As soon as I did the update I closed the game and I can't start it anymore. Only the EA app opens. Whether I click on the sims icon or if I try to start it from the EA app, it seems that the app closes and opens again, but the game doesn't start :_(( does anyone have the same problem? are there any solutions? i was working on a creation :-(((Sims 4 not loading
I recently updated my game and I am unable to play. The game will not load. I've uninstalled and re-installed the game as well as the EA app and it's still not working. I've cleared my cache and still no game play. When I try to play it takes me back to the app. Can someone please provide some assistance on this?

I went from a laptop to a desktop. Ever since the update and change my game keeps crashing, without warning. I have uninstalled it several times, and I am currently playing with ZERO mods. hello hoping someone can help. ever since the update none of my expansion packs seem to be working. i can see they are there but comes up red message at the bottom about requirements and games updates. i have updated, uninstalled and started again. repair button also seems to always be showing no matter how many times i use it. also having issues with crashing. can anyone advise. i noticed missing content tooCorrupted game
Since the Reaper update I have been experiencing a lot of issues with my game and it is now impossible to play it. I removed the mods before updating. Replaced the mods folder and restarted the game, and all I kept getting was a message from Better Exceptions informing me that some of the mods needed updating. Updated all of the, but I kept getting the same messages. Plus the stalls in san myshuno were not functioning properly and everything in the square was attached to each other. After several attempts to try and rectify the issue. I uninstalled the game, and the next day I reinstalled it. Logged back in, expecting to start a new game afresh, only to find my and my saved games were still there. I deleted the cache and all my saves. Logged out and restarted the pc. Went back into the game. Everything was still there. My saved games, cache etc and the better exception message kept popping up even though I had not replaced the mods folder. Once again, I uninstalled the game and followed the procedure above. The game is starting up and I am still able to load it even though there is no saved game folder. Better exceptions warning is not going away, even though I do not have it installed. I am very frustrated at this point and this has never happened to me in all the time I have been playing since Sims 1 to the present. Can you please help me?
game crash issues :(
hello! like several other people on this forum, i've been experiencing some major crashing issues after this latest update. i use a ton of cc but even unmerging all cc and testing everything in batches, updating mods, and straight up playing with no cc/mods my game will variously crash in a loading screen, in cas, in buildmode, etc. i've tried the following to find/fix the issue: -uninstalling -repairing several times -taking out my entire mods folder -updated gpu driver -updating mods/taking out broken cc -cleared caches i'm out of ideas and am very tired of the crashing--i've never really had an issue with crashing before. my dxdiag is attached below for anyone that can help :)

What can I do to get an answer from EA about the crashes and the fact that I can't play for more than a minute without a crash, and I mean without any mods!!??? I don't understand how they can update the event when the game crashes and we can't do anything! We are several players in this case with hundreds of euros invested and nothing any communication. But wake up, out of respect for the players !!! My game has been unusable since the September update (and my computer is far from being an ancestor, I must say! I can't believe that a big company like EA has a game available on consoles but doesn't have native controller support for the PC. I just got released from the hospital after having a stroke and wanted to play The Sims 4. I have the EA version with several hundred dollars worth of DLC that I can't afford to rebuy on steam. Due to the stroke, my right arm and hand can't use a mouse due to spasms but I think I might be able to handle my xbox controller (my right thumb doesnt spasm). Last week after updating the game i still can login to my game play, i do have mods and CC but everything was fine yet since last night stuck on loading screen i have not choice to force close my game but when i tried to restart my game play select my sim to travel to a hotel, it will load to traveling load screen but out of suddenly my game automatically closed(exit). Even i didn't travel my game will automatically exit too, i tried to repaired my sims 4 through EA app, but every way didn't solve my problem. Hello! I don't know if this is the right place to ask, if not you can point me to right one. But I have a problem with Sims 4 Get to work expansion pack. You see I bought the physical copy on the market. Seller seemed like a collector and sold games second hand but copy was still in plastic and seemingly unused so I bought it. But when I tried to redeem code it says the code has already been used. My guesses are that someone used the code and after that the copy has been replasticed and sold again. I don't know if this spesific seller was behind that or did he get the copy somewhere else. Or maybe the code is faulty? So I was wondering is there something I or EA could do about it? Is there possibility to get a new code or something? I payed almost full price on that thing, it would be kinda bummer if I don't get what I payed for. I have both the copy and the code right here so just ask if you need something. Reaching out for the seller is sadly very hard since it was a market. They didn't do receipts and I don't have his contact info. So I thought to ask here as the last resort.
Sims 4 Crashing Repeatedly
So, like many others on here - I am having an issue with Sims 4 crashing all of a sudden when it never did before. I have tried: Moving folder full of game data to my desktop Complete uninstall and reinstall of EA Multiple Repairs and restarts Clearing caches Chose Direct9 on game options and lowered from Ultra to High Uploaded and installed new drivers for Nvidia, etc. Ran Malwarebytes and Windows defender I have no CC or Mods installed for this game. I did several other things as well. I have no idea what is going on, but to say that I am frustrated would be an understatement. I have spent hundreds of dollars on this game and 70+ expansions. I was playing before the 2nd week of the Reaper event started and everything was fine. I came back to it a few hours later and now the game will not start for anything I keep getting the error code 135dcc40:29f00e76:00000084:08a1dd I followed all of the instructions about repairing, uninstalling EA app, running CCleaner and the game still will not start without that error message popping up. Did Ea mess something up with the starting of the 2nd Reaper week? I ask as no other games or programs are having this problem just Sims 4. Hello, During the last update, the ea app had to restart and to download an update too. It crashed to 0% for an hour, so I took the decision to restart my pc because I couldn't do anything. It began where I had left it and finished the update. When I tried to open the game, I had a message that said to uninstall and reinstall the game. That I did (it took the night). But it tells me now that : "the application failed to read the game license file. We advise you to restart the game in online mode. If the problem persists, clear your cache." I did everything, but the message still appears. I don't know what to do now ! (I have a Windows 8)USB Ports Stop Working when game is launched
Since doing the update and the Reaper challenge has started I have been experiencing my USB ports stop working. I have changed the mouse, uninstalled the game completely then installed it again and run the laptop through Windows repair version and it fixes it .. until the next time I launch the game. I had raised a ticket as I couldn't split the families to move out, shortly after this my mouse pointer was just doing it's own thing and selecting things on it's own until it just stopped working. This makes the game unplayable (I'm not great with the pointer pad) .. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening?? Or any updates to fix this issue??
Single expansion pack is not working but others do
Hello, i have been having this problem for over two weeks now.. I bought new gaming PC and wanted to install my Sims 4 into it.. I have a lot of packs (stuff, game, expansion etc) i paid for every single one and every single one is working except ''Seasons''. I installed and uninstalled the game twice in hope it would fix it but nothing works.. Some of my packs are from Steam but Seasons inself are from EA.. I cannot click on anything if i wanna fix my content.. The only thing i can do on EA is ''Manage my add-ons'' and it does literally nothing.. It only shows how many i have and if i have them downloaded.. But in that list it says my Seasons are downloaded but when i launch the game it is not there.. It is my favourite pack and for my luck it does not work.. I really need help because i am desperate here.Game is Unplayable
This is the first time I have played the game in two weeks. Today I logged in and updated the game (yes I downloaded my mods beforehand), and the game is almost unplayable. With my mods uninstalled my sims refuse to go to the bathroom, have unsolicited visitors, and won't go to work. If anyone knows how to fix it, please help.

Unfortunately I've tried all of the above and it's not worked for me. I am launching through steam and the EA app, could that make a difference? I'm unable to see where I can add -dx9 on the app. Just as an aside - I've not had this problem until recently, I've played over 700 hours of this game without any problems until now
