Re: [Anthem] Black Screen with 4k Dolby Vision TVs

Hey, I think I found a solution.  As previously stated, I'm on a 1080Ti / i7 4790k / SSD / 16g RAM on an LG C7P 65" OLED, and after tinkering with settings and reading some forums I fixed it on my system.  Try going into the NVIDIA control panel under Change Resolution, and below your resolution choices you'll need to select Use NVIDIA color settings / Desktop color depth: Highest / Output color format YCbCr420 / Output color depth: 12 bpc, and the game should launch with sound, and you should be able to exit to desktop without a hard reset.  Hope this helps.

  • Luckily you still own 1080 ti where this trick works. In RTX it does not. But I'm very happy that EA made this mistake and enabled dolby vision by default in Anthem whenever it detects dolby vision capable TV. I and many other people were stressing the need to fix Nvidia driver compatibility with WDMM that is causing the issue in BF1, ME Andromeda and now Anthem. Yupi... maybe the more pissed off users will actually make EA NVIDIA and MICROSOFT to do a handshake and finally fix the problem from nearly half of the year already.

  • Holy crap, Dolby Vision (DV) is finally working again on Mass Effect Andromeda. Since the issue has been related to the NVidia drivers, I've been testing the game every time new drivers dropped. The latest drivers (430.39, RTX 2080 Ti) dropped before the weekend and I gave it a shot. At first my screen didn't trigger making me think it still didn't work but after a quick HDR setting change I realized that it is working again. I play around in the game to be sure and it worked just fine. Right now, the only issue seems to be the screen sometimes not activating DV or not turning off when I exit. But once it does work, it works well.

How about Anthem? Well remember that while Anthem supports DV, they disabled it shortly after launch because of the driver issue. As of the post, they have not turned it back on. Will they? I hope so. It really brings out the colors but it's still to early to say for sure. Remember, BioWare is (for better or worse) doing a lot of work on Anthem. Turning DV back on, and making sure it works, is probably not a priority.

Has for the other frostbyte engine games? As far as I know, DV was never implemented in BFV, or ST:BFII. Battlefield 1 has it, but I have yet to try. Mainly because I was never able to get DV to work even back when it worked perfect on ME:A. Maybe I'll give it a test before the weekend is over but I'm not holding my breath. In the meantime, maybe I'll finally finish ME:A. It's got its problems, but I still think it's under appreciated.
