Re: Origin takes forever to install

If the download/install  is stuck @M199614 then it is most likely the case that something on your system is blocking it.

You need to ensure that your firewall and anti-virus are not blocking Origin and that you also have the ports for Origin open.

The ports to open are:

• TCP: 80; 443; 9960-9969; 1024-1124; 3216; 18000; 18120; 18060; 27900; 28910; 29900
• UDP: 1024-1124; 18000; 29900

You can also try turning off the routers firewall to see if it helps.

@EA_DarkoThe progress bar has been slowly moving in an unending loop with the text: "Installing the latest version of origin" for half an hour now. When I decide to cancel the installation I can see the installation was actually somehow already completed without my knowledge. When I startup Orgin and want to download Sims 4 and press the download button, nothing happens for a short while. Than suddenly I need to wait and in 10 minutes I get to hear it's "preparing" and after a little while longer I get the notification that installing the sims has failed or that my installation has been paused. Also while I am trying to install the sims, I get a notification every 5 seconds or so telling me that OrginClientService would like to make changes to my laptop, it doesn't matter how many times I answer "yes", it still keeps on asking me the same question. 

Only when I de-install Origin does it stop asking me.

When this issue occurs you can fix it if you take a couple of minutes to go through the following steps:

• Close Origin completely by right clicking the Origin system tray icon and selecting Exit.
• Make sure Time/Date is correctly set on the PC
• Make sure Origin is authorized by your anti-virus and firewall
• Reset Internet Explorer Settings
• Untick the options in LAN Settings ( make sure nothing is checked under Proxy Server )
• Clear Origin Cache Data
• Reset the Windows Host File
• Reboot your computer. Now right-click Origin and select Run as administrator
• If still unresolved, please do a clean boot

@EA_DarkoThank you so, so much. After scouring tens of twenties of different forum posts, your suggestion to reset the Windows Host File FINALLY WORKED!!! Origins is installed and up and working, which is genuinely something I thought I would never be able to say after attempting to troubleshoot this issue for several, several hours.

I even had this issue first rear it's head about six months ago when I suddenly had to reformat my computer, and several hours of scouring similar forum posts later, I couldn't get it to work either. So highly, highly, highly recommend resetting the Host file for anyone else that's still continuing to have issues.

Edit: I'd done all of the recommended actions above several times to no avail, but resetting the host file was what did the trick!

I have problem that origin installer just starts, i see it pops in task bar and just disappears within 1 second like nothing happened, it doesn't even show anything in task manager, nothing. I tried to block firewall, set my UAC to lowest, cleared all trash folders in "%ProgramFiles%" and "%AppData%" but nothing helps it just does nothing every time.

its basically whenever i try to install the client it says getting the latest origin and it will remain there for hours

This is generally a case of something on your system blocking Origin.

@EA_Darko  I'm always running it as administrator but every time it just pops on task bar and then disappears idk what else to do

I had origin on my PC almost 2 months ago and now i cant install it why is that

@EA_Darko  any recommendation about this installer? I mean clearly it is up to origin cuz i had origin month and a half ago and now i cant even install it...

@EA_Darko  now i noticed when i got free STAR WARS™ Battlefront™ II: Celebration Edition from epic games. I click on it to install it and it says "please wait until we install origin" but it just opens some origin looking window and closes it in that second so it basically does nothing right now. ☹️
