Re: Chromebook
@lpiscopo You're correct that Origin will only run in Windows or macOS, and there isn't a simple way around that. You could theoretically wipe your computer and install Windows (and buy a Windows 10 key), or you could go the Linux route and create a virtual machine for Windows. (Linux is a free, open-source operating system, or rather a set of related OSs. It gives more flexibility for users who know what they're doing, but it's not really conducive to normal everyday use.)
The thing is, even if you did manage to get Origin running on your computer, you probably wouldn't be able to play Sims games on it, or at least not very well. Chromebooks are absolutely not meant for gaming—their hardware isn't built to handle even the moderate load. Sure, you have an external drive, so the small hard drive of the laptop wouldn't be an issue. But you'd still have a weak processor and weaker integrated graphics, and if the game ran at all, it would probably freeze, crash, and generally lag enough to make for an unsatisfying playing experience. By the way, running a virtual machine would make everything worse, since the computer would have to support both its native OS and the VM at the same time.
I'm sorry that there's no good way to make this happen. If and when you're looking to play Sims again, you're welcome to come to the Sims 3 or Sims 4 section and ask for advice on buying a computer. New laptops that can run the whole game on high or ultra settings usually start around $600 U.S. if there's something good on sale.
