cancel update
"Application Settings" top menu
turn off "Automatic game updates"
"Orgin" menu at top and "Exit"
start Origin again
right click Apex in your Game library
select "Repair"
done. it'll repair & update your game

Repairing option wasn't there and was wondering how to repair it, since it was the logical step to get out of this stuck loop.

But it will end up downloading files that is around 22gb which is not the update size
And above all i am on metered network so is there any other possible solution for stuck on preparing update issue ??
my update is stuck on resuming so i can't cancel it. what do i do?
This only happens if the game has failed to download most files - when repairing it checks the files for any failed, missing, or corrupted files, thus it does not make you re download the game, if it makes you download anything that is bigger than what the update was supposed to be than you may want to find out why your pc had damaged the files or make sure you did turn off your pc mid update, i know im new on the forums but i have looked into this quite a bit so you can trust me

Yes. When cancelling the update, and repairing. It made me restart from start. Which was good since there was issues and I rather the update be a clean fresh start.
Cancelling an update and resuming it (without any corrupt files or issues) usually starts from approx where it was left off. I have noticed, this sometimes create corrupt files though.
