Re: The Armored Heal Station... VIABLE?!?

Nah. The decreased cool down is nice but its heal rate is too slow that you're still gimping yourself by using it. The difference in cooldowns isn't enough to surpass the regular heal station. I've always stuck with the heal beam anyways. I'd rather not wait for a cooldown to heal my teammates when i can heal one constantly while fighting and just use the heal bomb to heal multiple people, which also has a pretty quick cooldown and heals a decent amount.

The problem with that big heal station is as always: it simply does not heal enough. It always runs out of juice before i am healed to full.

The only reason to ever use it would be to counter a fire plant team, as the constant healing would stop the burn effect without them being able to destroy it.

They should just make it so that it lasts longer than its cooldown. Let's say 30 seconds. That way you get more heals and the armor becomes more of a nuisance to the plants.

I like your train of thought here but I've almost never used it in either GW game. The regular heal station heals much faster and the heal beam allows healing on the move. Plus to be honest I try to place the stations out of LoS so they aren't getting sniped as it is so extra health is only marginal.

I do occasionally use it simply because I hate having abilities I never use but it's pretty rare. That being said this buff does make it better than it was and people should feel free to use it whenever they like.

I also almost universally use the mega heal ball so in conjunction with the armored station that combo may be a solid duo but I haven't tried it out yet.

Redditor Masked_Koopa had this to say about the armored heal station buff, and I've yet to read much he's written on such matters that was not spot on:

"In its current state, Armored Heal Station is absolutely terrible. Its description is misleading, pretending to self destruct more quickly when in reality it merely heals more slowly, and it essentially gives a Scientist the ability to turn themselves into a liability for the team they are on, due to it’s pathetic healing speed doing little to help both other zombies or the Scientist using it. It is so bad that many plants do not ever deem it worth destroying, as it does so little to help the zombies that it may as well be left up to encourage zombies to cluster around it and make them easy targets. The most recent buff does nothing to actually remedy these downsides, and it therefore remains useless. This buff would make Armored Heal Station a more legitimate threat, and give its higher health some actual use. The significantly longer cooldown would keep it from being an upgrade over the normal Heal Station, not to mention the most popular combo of Mega Heal Bomb + Heal Beam, but the faster healing would make it an excellent tool for teams capturing gardens, and give Scientist some survivability when capturing or defending points."

    His suggested changes:

    • Increase rate of healing to one similar to Cheeta Heal Station from GW1
    • Increase cooldown by 10-15 seconds (Previous figures were 5-10, adjusted for recent cooldown buff)
    • Decrease duration it remains placed to that of Cheetah Heal Station
