Re: Give us the old Pogo Games Files!

Edit2: Thank you moderator for merging this with the new one, anyone reading this part may disregard.

Hello All, and EA! I come to this forum to ask for EA to release the old Club Pogo game files, including the server stuff to allow the games to actually run!

I was talking to an EA representative, and they said if I made a forum and enough people agreed, they would do it, so please, do what we can to get these games back

I made a forum on pogo forums, which goes like this:

Hello all! So sorry to bother, but I was wondering if I could have the files required to run the old .jar games? I really want to play Squelchies. I would love to play Shuffle Bump, as well, but I don't have the .swf files (Flash) for it. Squelchies seems to be needing something from EA's old servers, specifically "package com.pogo.game.client;" "import com.pogo.util.thin.h;" "import com.pogo.external.page.a;" "import com.pogo.util.thin.b;" "import com.pogo.util.thin.h;".

Yes, I know Java and Flash are no longer supported, which is why I want to run them on my computer itself. You guys don't need the files anymore, why not let the people that loved the game have them, or purchase them if neccessary?

It was the only memories I really had of my grandmother, whom passed early @ 64 due to cancer, and seeing these gone broke my heart and I, to this day, have been trying my hardest to get these games to work. There are a very small few Flash games on some emulators, but it doesn't suffice.

Please, and thank you for reading
~Gabe

p.s. her screenname was angelbees

Again, please reply if you agree, we can emulate them on some emulator _somewhere_ if they work!

Thank you for reading!
        ~Gabe

EDIT: I know this is in the wrong section now, I have moved it to the correct thread, I apologize for that. Please close this if necessary, for I cannot find the delete button. Thank you.

I second this. I'm friends with someone who absolutely loved the old Club Pogo games.

Not only would this be good to help a lot of people relive some classic memories, it's also very good for software preservation!

I would REALLY like this, because it'd be a good way to relive the fun we had years back.

I SECOND THIS EA you better listen or i'll break into your office and kill all your guards (not really tho i just wanted to say that lol)
  • Yes, I miss all those games so much. They were such a core piece of my childhood. The only game I miss that I've been able to find and play has been Harvest Mania, but I have so many that I miss. Penguin Blocks, Quick Quack, Stellar Sweeper are all a bunch I can't find ☹️

Gabe, I would join you in this quest. I came here looking for any link to them. Just great memories and fun. It's no joke, I really do miss those games! Not going to hate on the inheritors of the Pogo name other than I don't think they're even TRYING to produce anything or bring them back, but many years of my free time (decades since it first came online in AOL) was spent playing those games! And now we can't even play them solo now really sucks cuz it's not necessary. No one is going to get rich from having access - standard EUAs apply. Anyway if you ever come back to check this, we can figure out something.

Yeah, I'm still around, and I still feel that way. I've got some of them but no source code due to the source code being hosted on their servers. I haven't searched around too much, but I still would love to have someone that knows how to actually help.

You actually conversed with an EA Rep you said? And that it's really more of a matter of interest (and I'm guessing someone tasking it for basically no revenue - SOLD!!) But one thing I'm sure of is there's no shortage of people from our era that want it also. It's the main thread in comments no matter the post. It's a standard. My comments always include that while ya they reworked a few, but for some reason they've managed to strip all the fun out of each one! Features that were on some, the only reason I had to play it - everyday. Zzzzzzz  The Reps hear it all the time too I'd wager, and went searching to see what kind of answer to give. It could be from the cubby next door's official opinion. I guess I'm saying here they know we want them! They hear it and see it all the time. This one sucks. We want the other

What are the replies from the crappy outdated irrelevant overlord managed by editing our posts, community board have to say? I think if it's truly considered as just  a "by popular demand" content interest, we have the numbers! Press it to package with an " at your risk " and no EA tech support agreement with a great argument to production, then that's doable. With an official level petition interest that they've not seen to date, that's worth the effort to me -  to get something cherished back! And everyone can live happily in their memories and go back to cancelling their coma inducing pogo subscriptions!

So what are you saying here? When I tried mentioning this in the pogo forums, everybody got mad at me for it. Like, yes I enjoy change, but how they're going about this change is absolutely incorrect and I'm surprised they haven't lost most of all of their fan base because of it.

I would also like to request the game files. It's really dumb that we can't play the games anymore even though there are still ways to keep the flash games alive. Things like "Ruffle" exist now and there's really no excuse as to why we can't play these games even offline. I haven't looked into getting java games to work offline, but seeing as there are still ways to play the flash games it seems hardly fair to keep them away from the public. Please release the files of all the past games.
