I believe there is a way to connect your EA account to your PvZ Heroes game. Firstly, do you play on Computer or mobile?

Alright then, head into the gear icon on your PvZ app. Then, go into the Settings icon, find “My Account” settings, then link your PvZ Heroes account to your EA account. By doing this, it should work and allow you to access your friend list.

In my settings it is the same as your screen exept I do not have the "My Account" button. All I see is the audio settings and my username.

Do you have a Facebook or Apple ID Account by any chance? There are a few ways that you can link your account, with an EA account, Facebook or Apple ID.
