- @mikepal19 Hey, PC player here, aim assist doesn't actually activate on PC unless you plug in a controller, just thought that should be mentioned.
- @Sammichu Oh ok good to know. Haven't played a fps on pc since CS lol
I detest heavy aim assist because it’s only used as a manipulation tool.
In BfN, people who use heavy aim assist are usually those who bunny hop/intentionally throw off their hit boxes. In GW2, it was characters like Agent Pea that could aim hack (with heavy aim assist), when manipulated correctly.
I wish they’d limit bunny hopping or remove heavy aim assist from BfN.
No offense, @mikepal19 , I just can’t stand people trying to take advantage of mechanics.
EDIT: phone
2nd EDIT: @34975634954957 Do you bunny hop with small characters? Not being rude, just curious.
- @spIash_damage No that's fine. For most part, all console fps use a form of aim assist. Because compared to PC, you don't have the fine motor control. Console aiming is assisted because you can only use your thumb muscles to adjust your aim. With a PC, you have superior control because you have muscles of your hand, forearm and even upper arm to adjust your aim.
With that said, at any elite level of any fps game, you have to take advantage the mechanics otherwise, naturally you would get taken advantage of if you don't. And it sucks that it's like that but that's the reality. There are people who play casually and don't care about it and there are other casuals who do. Either dev's can patch it somehow, or people have to use it to compete. Or don't use it and just get use to the situation.
You can do WAY more on PC than you can on console with heavy aim assist. This is applied throughout all shooting games. This assist is just to close the gap between the two platforms.
I don't need to heavy aim assist because I feel I have decent aim but there are things you can do with heavy assist that you can't without it. And I won't let someone have that over me in this game. Therefore I use it as it will definitely be used on me. Im not judging if you don't wanna follow that path, cuz that's your choice. But just know that taking advantage of certain mechanics are common place which can be seen all the way up to the professional levels. Just gotta adapt I guess. I'm lost, what is the connection between bunny hopping and heavy aim assist? I don't bunny hop but use heavy because my aim sucks especially with this new logitech controller on pc...to be honest the difference between chars makes impossible to me to have a comfortable sensitivity.
Example, imp you could run high sensitivity with heavy and do well...try that with citron or cactus no zoom fire and see if you can hit a bunny hopper, impossible...for them I need a really low sensitivity and no or light aim assist.
This new controller is driving me insane, the thumstick for aiming is so hard to use.
@mikepal19 All due respect, I don’t bunny hop and only those with uber internet connections can frag me regularly. I will not bunny hop and shoot in this game ever. 😊👍. I’d rather die than resort to these tactics. I experience you as a respectful person and hope I convey the same to you even though our perspective is opposing.
@Gormey it’s TRASH. People find these things that can be abused and that exactly what they do; abuse them. On console, you can try to hit a bunny hopping enemy without aim assist, with light assist, and with heavy assist and the result will vary (depending on a multitude of contingencies).... however, if you’re the one bunny hopping and can get close enough to an opponent, it’s like your crosshairs refuse to leave your opponent/it’s HARD to miss. With console, this is a HUGE advantage because we aim and jump with the same thumb but those with heavy aim assist can do both at the same time; it’s almost like cheating to me. Hope this makes sense. The heavy assist allows you to jump and shoot and barely miss when you learn the “technique.”
EDIT: I didn’t use Captain Cannon in GW2 because he was cheap. Same with Agent Pea using heavy aim assist as well as Electro Pea. Just because it’s easier to kill people with these methods doesn’t make you a better player and when you face people that can really aim and don’t employ these tactics, you’ll die.

I turned it off right away as I heard some PC players state it was making mouse aiming flakey. I have 2 controllers plugged in and some games assume I want to use them so I turn stuff like that off so it doesn't cause issues.
- @spIash_damage Haha then we agree to disagree. You've chosen your path!

@spIash_damageHaha then we agree to disagree. You've chosen your path!I wouldn’t mind it, if there was a tutorial on how to accomplish this tactic somewhere in-game. As it stands, most people that NEED heavy aim assist don’t even know it exists and most of those people get disappointed enough with the game they’ll quit because they can’t emulate what they’ve seen work against them (never knowing it’s impossible without heavy assist/by default).
No different than rapid fire and corner glitching; I won’t resort to those either.
@spIash_damage With console, this is a HUGE advantage because we aim and jump with the same thumb but those with heavy aim assist can do both at the same time;
This is false, heavy assist only assist in aim, you still have your aim and jump button using the same thumb. What you have to do it reassign your left bumper (or L1) to jump. This configuration is called bumper jumper in call of duty. This allows you to jump and aim at the same time. It takes a while to get use to but that's how some people without elite controls do it. And another thing, elite controllers don't allow you to have rapid fire either, only modded controllers can do that (those are the cheaters). Other options are to play claw style, assigning the right stick button or R3 as jump, or buying a controller with buttons/ paddles on the back.
And lastly I think heavy assist is the default option for assist. And if it isn't then I think it's the person's responsibility to check settings for them selves. If a person never checks their own settings, sensitivity, and button layout and configuration after playing for a certain amount of time, then it's their own fault in my opinion. EVERY game ever played has settings on how to check your own layout.

This is false, heavy assist only assist in aim, you still have your aim and jump button using the same thumb. I was on my phone and should've clarified/explained better. On PC now so I can properly reply. I should have said that it's EASIER to jump and aim at the same time with the help of aim assist. Seeing as how that distinction is so frivolous to me and the main point was it's a HUGE/LAME advantage, I didn't bother to extrapolate as my phone is no joy to type on. You're right that you still have to use the same thumb to aim and jump (it's just FAR easier to aim with heavy aim assist enabled).
What you have to do it reassign your left bumper (or L1) to jump. This configuration is called bumper jumper in call of duty. This allows you to jump and aim at the same time. It takes a while to get use to but that's how some people without elite controls do it. I'm aware of the controller configurations but didn't know it was an option in BfN/have never looked in my settings. Shame on me; does BfN allow this on PS4 or are you referencing an Xbox option? And another thing, elite controllers don't allow you to have rapid fire either, I never said "Elite" controllers. only modded controllers can do that (those are the cheaters). Other options are to play claw style, assigning the right stick button or R3 as jump, or buying a controller with buttons/ paddles on the back. I've just recently learned about some of the paddles on the back and now understand how people such as Germanshu jump/shoot so aggressively. I'm just guessing he's using something modded by watching footage a friend showed me. In either case, I can't believe the extent people go to to achieve these gaming advantages. I agree but how many people actually know to check these settings? I just wish it wasn't an option in the game or that it was default for everyone.
I added responses in bold as a matter of convenience/to make it easier for you to follow my replies.
I'm not trying to be combative or insulting. I think heavy aim assist can be exploited in shooters and it's sickening. If someone NEEDS help aiming, that's cool. If some try-hard kid abuses certain characters to try to top the scoreboard every game, I don't respect it. To be fair, I only dislike people doing this that are toxic-taunters/server bullies.
Come to think of it, I've NEVER seen a bunny-hopping try-harder that didn't taunt/wasn't toxic.
These days, the latest greatest television, internet connection, modded controllers, etc, etc..... there's SO MANY advantages try-hards can obtain before ever checking into the aim assist issue that it makes me sick.
Many times, these same lame people get a new game and the first thing they do is look to exploit aim assist (or other similar mechanics) and NEVER INTEND to play on a level playing field. Again, 99% of the same people are toxic taunters. @mikepal19 if you're a nice guy/regular gamer, none of what I'm saying should offend you. If you're a bunny-hopping guy with uber great internet and don't server bully (by exploiting these advantages as well as a godlike ping), you're truly a one-of-a-kind in BfN and I'm sure we'd enjoy gaming together/versus one another.
I disagree with people trying to get an advantage in any games or competitions, especially online games. That's it...

No worries. I don't really think so but maybe I don't fully understand the term. With Imp and Nightcap during a fight I will strafe and sometimes jump or double jump to be hard to hit. I kind of think that is the advantage they enjoy for having less health. I certainly don't spam jump or knowingly exploit any mechanics. Is that bunny hopping? I don't think so but I'm not so familiar with the term.
That said I normally play larger characters like Action Hero and snipers and have aim assist on either way, so hopping doesn't really come into play much during most of my games.

@34975634954957 bunny hopping generally refers to people who spam jump constantly while fighting, especially up close. It can make smaller characters really difficult to hit and if you're a precision based character as opposed to an assault rifle or AoE style character, it can be rough to deal with.
So you don't hate spamming bunny hopping, you only hate spamming bunny hopping if it's from a toxic person lol
Having an elite controller, low latent monitors, high speed internet is actually the normal now for higher tier competition. ALL console FPS competition, you need an elite controller or a scuff controller. Like any sport, the elite athletes usually get the best equipment ie cleats for football, tennis shoes for tennis, weight lifting shoes etc. They could all just wear regular shoes but it's advantageous for them to wear specific type of shoes. Now that I think about it almost everything has dedicated equipment to make yourself more efficient or better at your craft. It's harder to think about what craft DOESN'T have dedicated equipment. That's just how it is, either get with it or deal with being at a disadvantage.
As for me, I don't talk * or even I don't get * talked too much because I'm usually the one killing 🙂 but I don't pay attention to the people who try to troll me when they get a kill on me. I just say GG at the end. I don't ever really try to become top vanquisher either,. So I guess I'm one of a kind, as you put it! And none of what you said offends me because I've seen the gamers you're describing. Im most of what you said except for the toxic part.
The control configuration is via the console, not in game.
Sorry my reply was all over the place. Im replying on a phone and I don't know how to use put your text in that quote box.
LoL! You got it. It’s really just the toxic people.
I do wish we could play together.
What region do you play at and what platform.? Hmm I should make a post about this.

Good luck with that post.
I’ve asked you this before... you’re on Xbox?
I’m on PS4 and play on any server (All but Asia and Australia because I can’t find BA games on those).
