well at least your workers are showing...my arcology is maxed out and im only getting 3k workers to come into my city, even tho my city is wanting another 6k between all wealth levels.
i had this fantastic plan of proving that the maps were big enough to build nearly everything the game had to offer. but since i cant get arcology to work...eff it!

Well my friend, I think that I have some good news and bad news for ya. I think the numbers may just be part of the bug and the people might not actually be there. It is really strange to me that in these cities I may only need say 17k low wealth workers, but the numbers tell me that Arcology is sending me 40k anyway. Especially since all my industry, etc. is closing down anyway...
The good news is, you can build just about everything the game has to offer in the maps as long as you stick to a specialization. Providing you are willing to build like myself (or as my friends say "like the Borg") Which is pretty much city blocks, and expansiveness into every available inch of the map. Unfortunately, There just is no way you are going to fit everything in one city if you try and combine specializations (even if you could manage say the pollution of Ore mining with the Snobbishness of high wealth casinos). I am hoping in a year or two (providing by then everyone doesn't completely lose interest) they work the bugs out, and can release the source for modding. That would open up a ton of options for larger maps, regions, etc. They have got a LOOOOOOONGGGG way to go first.
So how can I have 6000 unfilled jobs, good traffic, mass transit with good wait times, and a level 8 arcology. The arcology is suppose to be giving me a worker pool of 664,331 Sims but IM only getting 19000 Sims commuting in and not all of them are workers. How do I get more workers to come from the arcology.

Well, I will give you 2 answers to your question my friend. What is supposed to happen, and what is actually happening as of yesterday in my regions wih Arcologies.
What is supposed to happen is, after you complete Arcology, ensure that it is watered, powererd, and able to be seen by all of the cities in your region (the last is a huge problem and what I believe is causing most of the problems still), the great works is supposed to automatically read the nead for your workers, shoppers, and students. The more need you have for these things, the greater the level of your Arcology, and the more workers etc. it is supposed to send to your cities.
What is actually happening. Arcology is still deeply, deeply, bugged in itself as well as being succeptible to the regular bugs being plagued by the great works in themselves. I have it built in multiple regions at this point, and each seems to be screwed up in its own special way. Mostly from what I can ascertain is, Arcology simply isn't connecting to the cities in the regions correctly, and thusly sometimes gets the right info, and more often doesn't. If you have had it built over the last few patches, its even worse. Half of the cities in my regions that should be able to see Arcology can't, and the other half aren't receiving the correct workers, etc.
But, they are working on that, don't you worry. It's only been 5 months since launch now, with 2 paid add-on packs, but I am very sure EA is getting to those bugs that have made the game unplayable since beta. Being the worst company in America 2 years running now, our enjoyment, and smooth gameplay is of their utmost priority. I am sure after they get done nickle and diming everyone with add-on packs that don't work either, they will get everything ironed out with the core gaming experience.
So far it looks like the bulk of the Sims I need from the arcology that are not showing up for work is medium wealth workers. My electronics factory wont work unless these folks go to work my traffic is still great and I have buildings shutting down all over the place due to lack of workers.
ok now my power plants have shut down due to no workers, my arcology has shut down. my whole quadrent is boned. way to go maxis.

I am sincerely sorry my friend, and can completely empathise with your frustration and aggravation. I have been building Arcologies since beta, using them in different situations and environments, and I have yet to have one not destroy the entire region. Well, I take that back. The most recent region I have built, completely new since patch 5.0 has an Arcology in it. We realized pretty quickly that it wasn't working and exhibiting the same exact symptoms, and have since quit the region. It's sad, but I keep losing the desire to even play anymore. I try and not be that way, but they are really making it tough. But enough of that non helpful nonsense.
All I can offer you my friend is some glimmer of hope, and that is, that I have been completely up Maxis' and EA's arse about this since before day 1, and done most of the leg work for you. After months of arguing, posting, flaming, and debating, they have finally accepted my bug as official, and QA is investigating. WTF that means.
You can find my official bug report here, and feel free to add your own. Just make sure you read the instructions to do it properly, just do not tag it on the end of mine or they will just delete it. Follow the instructions and do it perfectly, and they will tag it on the end of mine for you and maybe we can get Maxis and EA off their asses together. I'll put the link down below as well.
Hope this helps at all
how did you get power and water to it? I built a city and then an arcology, after it was completed it said it needed water and power. I made more than enough power and water to supply it but the arcology says it still needs power and water. is there some special screen where I can send it to the arcology
it takes time for the arcology to relize you have the extra power and water for me it was about 1hr of game play
humm theory time... maby since it takes so long for your for your greatworks to realize you have power and water. maby it takes just as much time for the worker needs info to get to the great works it that is the case then that may explane things a little. i cant wait till simcity enteres the internet age i.e instent requestsand information

Well, that is a pretty decent theory, but unfortunately not a provable one. There is no special screen in which you have to specifically supply power, water, and workers to your Arcology. As long as those resources are available in your cities, and of course your cities can actually see the Arcology etc., they will send those resources to the Arcology automatically. Just ensure that when you click on your power and water plants that the tic box saying "Share this resource" is checked.
Unfortunately, with as bugged as the Arcology is, it is very likely that this won't happen. I personally haven't had any trouble with getting power, water, and the 300 workers to the Arcology to get it up and running, but I have had so many other problems with it, it isn't surprising to me in the least that you are having trouble with it.
My best suggestion for you is to log out, and log back into your city. Completely log out of SimCity, and then back into your city. It seems to get really lagged or something, and sometimes this lets it catch up a bit, but this doesn't always fix it either. Unfortunately, there isn't much control outside of that. You have to rely on the programming to do the rest, and the scripting is garbage.

Hello. This thread is over a year old and I would like to say that it is still bugged. I recently bought the game and I must say that it isn't working as it should. I built it, it is running "fine" some other cities can't see it, and I have a lot of industries closing down because of it ( I planned on having a lot more jobs to be filled in the city rather than residential). Oh well, It's been a while since EA released this game, and i was planning on buying hte expansion packs but seeing that the ORIGINAL version isn't working correctly I probably won't invest any more money into it. Please fix this EA. this is a GREAT game. Cities are small hoping that we'd construct great works and when we do, they don't work.

I just want to say I am sorry to hear that this garbage software still isn't working. Get ready for about 6 months of frustration before you give up friend. There were a ton of us that tried to get EA to care at all about this game, and they just don't. All they care about is turning out as many expansions and add-ons as they can to cash grab everyone. The bulk of Simcity fanatics, including myself, gave up around the time of my last post. We got sick of the run around, being ignored, and then blatantly insulted by EA. Even so, I am a little surprised they haven't even fixed these bugs by this point...
I would have hoped that at the very least one of the developers would have been a fanatic him/herself and provided some sort of help or explanation...
Hopefully a group of true developers can clone the game and fix where EA left off. EA just isn't about quality, just that initial purchase and whatever else they can sqeeze out. I just graduated college and have a lot more free time on my hands than I should and I was hoping to revisit my younger years of hours of video games, like Sims and the various sports games EA develops, but seriously if this is how EA treats their games I'm just going to stick to good open-source crowd-sourced games that I know will have continued support.edit: grammer fix

Welcome to EA post 2000ish. They couldn't care less about their customers, and there is a reason they continually get granted the prestigious title of "Worst company in America" over an over again. Their games are nothing but buggy, frustrating, pathetic cash grabs anymore. This version of SimCity is the last pre-order, and title in general I have purchased from EA, and probably will be the last period. Every title that is released from them flops, and is hit with incredible backlash from their customer base. The ones that aren't 8 or 9 and keep purchasing these titles, anyway.
If you are still hoping for any glimmer of this game to actually work as intended, check modders forums and offline mode. Enough people finally just gave up and quit this pile for them to have to put in an offline mode. Perhaps some modders have actually fixed some things well paid developers couldn't after years.
I've built 3 or 4 archoligies and it just seems like the only thing they do is overload the train station(s) with workers I don't need. No tourists or college students - just workers who can't find work and have to leave the city.
Getting rid of the train stations keeps most of them away. It would be nice to be able to, if all the mayors in the area consent, remove a great work so you're not stuck with it.
- I'd like to say it is now FIVE FREAKING YEARS and this is still not fixed. Ea ur a joke and deserve ur worst company award. U don't care about games once u get the sale money.
