Re: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order™ Free Content Update

just some feedback while everyone else is playing still

first, i think you struck a great compromise with new journey+ : the customisations are unlocked (except i notice there are 3 locked BD-1 ones now!) but the stim crates are not, which gives me an excuse to go to the places where they are during play.

i have tried the meditation practise. not yet challenges, but i have set up my own fight and tried it, and i have a few ideas for it. its not the same as adding a sort of extra planet with an ongoing battle you can dip in and out of to help the rebel alliance there, but its great for honing strategy if you are a bit rusty. looking forward to trying the challenges to unlock BD-1 skins, even though thats not normally my kind of thing.

i notice you have not made cut scenes skippable, but while i do not use them, the accessability options sound very useful.

plus there is the inquisitor cal and the red lightsaber crystal! im using the second but not the first right now. i suspect there is no new dialogue in the game for this, but then you can get away with that. it would have been fun for cere to comment with a little worry on your choice of lightsaber colour after rescue, or maybe have the inquisitors comment something to the effect that even if cal won, they can tell from his lightsaber he'll join the empire anyway, sick of the chaos and wanting order. but thats asking too much from an established game.

so thanks everyone for what i think is a great update, and free as well. not sure if any dlc is planned, but if so, im still intending to buy.

on another note, i had more ideas what cal might be doing after this. cere might be too concerned over her dark side struggles to train, so he may be stuck doing that. they may rescues a female padawan who is the hero in the next game.

but while i prefer games like this where you play one hero, all the way through, i know there is some strange tendency to do what i name as 'call of duty'itis - which is the tendency (normally in a game with a multiplayer mode) for the (token) single player to be split into numerous different stories following differing characters. i personally hope if there are sequels you can avoid this, because to me it feels disjointed, switching between characters. witcher 3 stopped me playing because it switched from the main character i had been investing in to a female character he was looking for and i lost interest in the game. BUT should you have to do this, limit it to two, and switch as little as necessary.

for example, you may make a game where cal does a little training of the rescued female padawan, but then has to go off on some secret mission to infiltrate an imperial facility and discover or recover/destroy copies of something, whatever it is. he winds up on that mission sequence, which then sets up a dual mission with the padawan who is the main character in this sequel as she and cere try to track down cordova or more ancient civilisations, or discover what the empire is trying to do - my hunch is the empire wanted to destroy the zeffo artifacts or research them or both; destroy and remove what they can to prevent anyone force sensitive finding ancient civilisations' training sites and learning to use the force from them, because they might challenge the empire. or maybe cere and the new character fly around rescuing and rehiding all those force sensitives that were revealed when the empire looked in the holocron before it was recovered who knows.

i think lots of sequels would be nice - with cal doing a lot more of what he did in this one but on different worlds and finding different things, and the padawan and cere in other games, rescuing people, trying to confirm sightings of fugitive jedi and maybe heping out the rebel alliance from time to time, meeting maybe with the heroes from the original trilogy, or seeing them or something.

but those are just random ideas, and in the meantime while i wait a few years for the covid thing to be solved, and a second fallen order game, thanks again for your update.

@GuardianD671 will we get more updates such as other missions happening in the story and stuff like that?
  • It'll be a good couple of weeks before I get to experience everything new, but so far, i'm pretty happy 🙂 The action seems does seem a bit more responsive using M+K, and those new hilts look amazing. Thank you to EA and Respawn for this huge patch.

  • im hoping any sequels they can make in a way that you can have dlc content added including missions. but i have no idea if they even plan any. i remember a game called black a long time ago on playstation, which seemed to be a surprise and unplanned game, and which was very good but it never got a sequel made. star wars is different though.

what i would really love is a star wars mmo like destiny 2, but we can only wish for that. i know about SWTOR but i didnt like it much. a destiny style star wars game would have controller options and i prefer to play with a controller than mouse keys.
