Same thing is happening to my game. I'm unable to launch it.

Having the same issue, tried many of the fixes on this thread and nothing is working.

It seems i have found a temporary fix. You need to have BF2 icon on your desktop. Next, close origin completely (right click from tray and select "Quit Origin")

Next launch BF2 by double clicking your desktop shortcut and Origin will restart, launching BF2 Without needing to click "play". Worked for me, hopefully it will work for you all.

This is infuriating. Started happening after the last patch. First thing to solve it? I updated my drivers. The next day, after the pc had been shutdown, the problem was back. The second thing to solve it? Deleting Origin's cache, following the guide EA laid out. Third time it happened? Updating Windows. Today? Problem is back and nothing is fixing it now, including the icon on the desktop trick suggested in the last post. Three different "solutions" on three seperate occasions and there is absolutely zero correlation between any of them.

It's something to do with Origin, and nothing else. There is no point in EA asking us to look at DXDiag, there is nothing wrong with our pc's. Origin is at fault here.

Edit - Fourth "solution"? Repaired the game for the umpteenth time. Didn't actually download anything. Just worked. It's definitely Origin being a pill somehow.

@Azhrei I am having the exact same issue. Except I am still unable to get it to launch. This is BS.

@RThib58 That worked after the third time for me. This is just stupid now.

This works for me when it comes to launching the game, but unfortunately the game only runs for 5-10 minutes before crashing to desktop. This has been a problem for some time now, and all of the suggestions from staff and other users have not fixed the crashing problem for me yet.

I got it working by signing out of origin and then signing back in. Don't know how long this will work but you may try that.

    I GOT IT FIXED!

Go to your Origin Games > STAR WARS Battlefront II folder and rightclick the starwarsbattlefrontii exe.

Go to Properties and change the compatible-mode to "start in" Windwos 7

Hope this will work for you too.

If so - see you on the battle field 🙂

  • What worked for me was to launch Origin itself as admin and then I can run the game 🙂

@SalithTaydan Wish it would for me. This launcher is the biggest pain in the * I have ever had for any game. My brother cannot launch his either.

    @JimKellysAfroIt does not for me.

Edit - Closed Origin earlier by mistake and when launching it again, the game once again refused to launch. Restarted, launched Origin, game launches now. Good lord this issue is irritating. I know in the morning when I try again it'll fail.

  • @AzhreiRight its obvious, can we just get the game disassociated from this crap service, wish I could have purchased this on steam....

  • the only other game i have installed with origin is fifa 17 and that doesnt launch fifa directly, it opns a fifa launcher which you then launch game from. i wonder if there was a 'star wars' launcher that origin opens, would battlefront work with no  issues from its own launcher?

but its less than ideal. fifa isnt that heavy on my gpu and cpu, and an extra launcher over and above origin isnt a problem. another launcher on top of origin for battlefront is headroom i dont want to give.

it feels like something else is being runwhen battlefront is running, and if that invible 'service' fails to run, or cant connect, then battlefront silently closes.

in fact that makes sense; when battlefront ran first time i got a windows firewall thing saying it had blocked some features, and i clicked allow on it. if there is a silent thing being run they wont want any windows firewall 'allow/disallow' notices to let on its there; and so the silent program whatever it is, possibly an anti cheat, might therefore not be getting permission to go through windows firewall?

  • Yep. After trying just about everything mentioned - what worked is running Origin as administrator.

Origin is absolute, 100% garbage. Steam and even crappy Epic don't give these issues.
