Can’t buy crates
Did they remove the ability to buy crates?

Nearly two years ago.
but then why do i still see crates in the menu and i need crates to get the bb emote
Those crates are earned by completing milestones.
Hi,
The crates are there for you to unlock your milestone challengers once completed. Once challengers are completed, you can unlock them by going into crates.
More Information:
Check the careers page where you will find a list of completed and uncompleted challengers. Select heroes and you should find the new challengers for BB-8 and BB-9E where it will tell you on what you need to do to unlock the accessories. Some of the challengers require you to spend a certain amount of time with BB-8 and BB-9E, once you have acquired enough points (score), you will be notified on your gaming screen.

@junglejac152005 all the above but also incase someone saved there crates and don't bother to open them. 🙂

Hey, was that a little dig at me there? Just because I left my crates at 123, doesn't mean I wasn't bothered to open them - I had my own little challenge going on. I was actually saving them to reach 200 by Christmas day, then open all 200 of them. I timed it that by Christmas day, I would have 200 to open, but that didn't happen because you played a magic trick and made them disappear...

- EA_Atic@lukeobionechew it actually was not a dig at anyone. Its not uncommon that players like to have the biggest stack of X item. I know players in Battlefield 1 that was competing to have the most un-open boxes, some where over 1k. 🙂
