Re: Left shift key broken: Sims 4 cheats MAC Help

@CWood5678

Your shift key is working as that is the key combination to take a screenshot on your Mac. Using the right combination of keys always helps to bring up the cheat console - CTRL, Shift and C..... that is CTRL, Shift and C. If you're still having problems read this specific post on troubleshooting cheat console issues - https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612394#M167

    My left shift Key is actually entirely broken, doesn't respond to anything at all.  I have tried every combination of keys including the ones you mentioned. Using the right shift key does nothing for it. Even with the commands you said. All it does is take an in-game screenshot because I pressed C. It ignores shift and ctrl completely and only recognizes C.  Command- shift -3 takes the screenshot on my Mac in general, as well as command -shift-4.  I have a late 2013 macbook pro, which unfortunately has been known to end up with a dead left shift key for whatever reason.

    But if you can take screenshots using CMD, Shift and 3 or 4 on your Mac then the left key isn't broken, or do you only use the right shift key?

    Have you checked all the points in the post I linked to? Have you also tried remapping a Shift key on your keyboard?

    The left shift  key is completely unresponsive to everything, won't even capitalize letters. I've been having to use the right one for everything and the only thing I can't get to work with it is cheats for sims ☹️ . I am able to use it for other games, just not the sims. I ended up taking about 100 in game photos just trying to get it to work lol. I had a look at the post you linked to and couldn't find anything different with my keyboard or anything that caused a conflict with the game. As for remapping, I honestly haven't got a clue on how to do that, as It's something I've never had to worry about before.

    I did do a repair a few weeks ago after removing some old mods, I used to be able to bring up the cheat console all of the time when the left shift key worked, Never got it to come up with the right one. I wish there was a section in the options tab in the game to switch keys and controls for things. I ended up having to use the MC Command center mod to use cheats, I'll probably just have to wait for the next version of that to be released. Hopefully I'll be getting a new laptop in the future, I might as well save the cost of a keyboard repair for a new one all together eventually.

    Can you move your whole Sims 4 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts out onto your desktop and see if a brand new, clean game makes any difference? It may be worth trying an external keyboard too.

     Hopefully the Mod will be updated soon 🙂
