Re: 🛠️ Creating a symlink in macOS to store the Sims 4 folder on an external drive

I followed steps to transfer sims 4 onto my external hard drive. I formatted my drive, I made a symlink for my electronic arts folder, I changed my install and saves on origin to be on the drive, and now when I open sims 4, my save files are erased ☹️ Does anyone know how I can get them back? I see forums for these problems but they're usually for windows. I have a mac!

@nbabyc Can you post a screenshot showing the Electronic Arts folder in your Documents folder.

@caitlinrheff What access does the game have in System Preferences/Settings > Security & Privacy > Files & Folders?

@Bluebellflora both removable volumes and documents folder are checked off on filed and folders

Maybe reverse the symlink and start again? Something either doesn't have access permission or isn't plugged in properly.

I deleted the symlink and then when I got to terminal to start the process again it says permission denied?
