1) Which version of a Playstation are you trying to play the game on? PS2, PS3 or PS4?
2) If playing on a PS3, does it have the PS2 cross compatibility enabled?

oh my god im sorry. i really need to proof read my stuff LOL. yes it is a ps2 and its the fat model. it only works some times.
@thatoneloser16 , no problem. 🙂 I just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page. 🙂 It could be that the laser reader may be out of alignment and may need to be adjusted. (Had an old CD player that happened to and once it was fixed it was right as rain). You would need to look up someone in your area who fixes electronics that has a good reputation. Can you play your other games ok on your PS2?
Just trying to think of what could be causing it to not play other than the disk itself.
yeah my other games work just not sims

@thatoneloser16 , found this information while helping another player. Have you tried a CD/DVD lens cleaner? It cleans the laser reader in the disk drive. I just looked on Amazon and they are not expensive. Try that and let me know. 🙂

I know that there's been a while since you posted this but I'm having that same issue with the sims. I really like the first game better than any other although the graphics isn't up to date. But that is the only game that won't play for me unless it wants to and all of my other games play perfectly fine so I don't understand it.
Hello, I know that this message was sent a while back regarding the Sam's not playing on PS2 but I've been having that same issue. I have three new Sims games for PS2 and none of them work it's the exact same issue with them all although all of my other games were perfectly fine. I have had them cleaned and laser adjusted or whatever that's called and it's still doesn't work. It used to play sometimes now it just doesn't play it all and The Sims was the reason why I even bought the console. Spent $150 or so for ps2 and the game that I want to play the most doesn't play. Very disappointing.
@RovonneGinger , So have you cleaned the reader itself? You can check Amazon or your local electronics store to see if there are DVD/BluRay cleaners and try cleaning the disk reader.
I play my PS2 games on my PS3 which is backwards compatible and I have very little problems with playing older games. It sounds as if it is something mechanical not reading the disk allowing the game to load or play.
