@jesssimsplay , you should always copy your Sims 2 folder (found normally Documents > EA Games > Documents) to your Desktop. This does not mean create a shortcut or copy and paste, actually move it to your Desktop and name it something different like "Sims 2 Backups". Next, start up your game. Don't worry. Your game will generate a new Sims 2 folder upon start up. Please be aware that none of your saved games, CC or mods will be present at this time as they are all safe and sound on your Desktop. Allow the game to go ahead and finish the start up and then you can start playing any neighborhood of your choosing. Don't worry about your saved games at this point. You want to make sure your graphics settings and regular gameplay are all ok at this time. If the game runs ok at this point, your can then begin to add back your CC and mods.
To add back your saved games, open up both your Sims 2 Backup folder and your new Sims 2 folder found in the Documents folder. Simply, move the contents from your Backup folder to your new Sims 2 folder. Again do not copy and paste or create shortcuts. They must be moved.
Let me know if this works for you and please keep me updated.
One more thing. You should periodically back up your Sims 2 folder onto a USB Thumb drive or an external hard drive if this happens again. That way your saved games will be safe and sound. And if you have to redo this process again, your saved games are all safe in another place so you won't lose too much progress on your games.
- @Tremayne4260 Thank you for your help. I find my old save data accidentally!
