Re: Sims 3 64-bit (Mac) Keeps Crashing When A Big House Is Loading

@antagiazi  Try enabling object hiding, which is a box to check alongside the other graphics settings.  Do so at the Main Menu, then quit to desktop before loading a save so you get the full effects.

If that doesn't help, then you may need to test your cc to see whether any of it is a problem.  If you use the 50/50 method, you may narrow things down to one or two problem items and be able to keep everything else.

As long as you don't click Save for the save itself (saving the house to the bin is fine), your sims won't permanently lose their cc: it'll be back when the files are present again.  Or you could build in a new save instead.  However, if you're currently building in the save you normally play, it's also possible that part of the problem lies in that save itself, so switching to a new save might make this lot work temporarily only for you to see it cause more crashing when you try to place it in your existing save.

Hello, @puzzlezaddict ! Thanks for replying.

I tried enabling object hiding, and it worked for a few seconds. I tested it out first in live mode by zooming in on the house, and the house was able to load without crashing. However, when I went to build mode, the house did not load anymore and crashed. I tried testing it a few more times in build and live mode, and the house did not load anymore but crash.

I tried to save the house in my library too. But, as it was processing, the game crashed. I'm pretty surprised by that. Then, I noticed I can't really play the game as the house was existing in the game..? I played in a new save. Same family, but the house I built was not in their world. I didn't build the same house or built any house at all. I just chose a random house and designed it a bit, and the game crashed three or five minutes in.

I'm guessing the problem is the house itself? I did put a lot of effort into it, but I also don't mind deleting it. I do want to find out if the house is the one causing issues, and deleting it could answer my question.

Oh, and I did the 50/50 method as well. I found three CC's that were messing with the game. When I went to test the game again though, zoomed in on the house and it still crashed. It's the same on build mode.

Thank you so much for trying to help, though! I'll go ahead and delete the house soon. I'll re-download Origin and TS3, and repair the game as well. I'll update you if there are some changes. Your reply is very much appreciated, thanks again!

@antagiazi  Are you saying that the game also crashed when you were playing your main family in a new save that didn't include the house?  Because if so, you could have another bad cc item, one that one of your sims is wearing.  More than one thing can be true, and there's a lot of bad cc out there.

If you don't get anywhere with your other troubleshooting steps, I'd try loading the house and the family in a new user folder: move your entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, open the launcher to spawn a clean folder, and copy over only the save and the newest files in Library, as in, the house and the entry from when you saved the household.  You'll need to create new Saves and Library folders, but please do this rather than copying over the entire existing folders: bad cc could in theory be stuck to one of your older Library entries.

Then load the game and test the house and the family separately, in new saves, and if that goes well, test in your existing save.  Let me know how it goes.
