Re: [NEEDS INPUT] Sims don't drink autonomously-made drinks

Hello, everyone. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have searching around about 'Bar' problems. Whenever i placed a bar in my home, my family wouldn't stop mixing and mixing... yet almost never drink them.

I don't like seeing them wasting their money. This is a common bug, i think.

Well, is there any mods that prevent them from autonomously making drinks at the bar? (I don't really mind they go to get a water, but owning a bar made my home much more luxurious.)

I'm sorry if asking for such things (as mods) are prohibited, but i'm just curious.

Thank you...๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Oh, one last thing. Please merge this post to another same bug problem if needed. I'm afraid if i asked this to another forum, it would go off-topic.

    Hi @Gailardhia

there's an issue with drinking obsession which also makes them use the bar often but usually they drink what they mix so your issue seems different.

Have you done all the usually troubleshooting steps like repair your game and try a new save for testing purposes to see if it also occurs there ?

As for mods, you can use them but we're not allowed to link them here. MC Command Center might have an option, otherwise try modthesims.

  • Thanks you for your suggestion.๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Let's see what i could find (following the regular troubleshooting).

As long as they immediately drink what they made, i suppose it's OK.

The only thing that bothered me just they won't drink them. Most of time just left them there until spoiled.

@Gailardhia Do your sims have a low need such as low fun when this occurs? Are you using many Mods? Is it just with one type of Bar or  any of them you place? Would you be happy to share your save?

If so, please zip up this folder: documents\electronicarts\thesims4\saves and drop the file to this Mediafire-Link to upload.

Please make sure to name the zip file with your user name.

I still searching for the problem, just to make sure.

Low need? I think no... usually i keep them in relatively high needs.

I'm not sure if custom clothes are considered mods. If so, then yes. Quite a lot but they're a set of 5. Assassin's Creed outfit from "001 Studio K" and the CreedHood from TSR.

Oh, another mod that i used are "Satisfaction" Mod (for retail and restaurant employees), and Cinderellimod "NPC_Barista" (for the same purpose, but different creator)

I'm not sure about placing another bar, i never tried the other but this one i have is quite often used by my household. "Future Furniture Star Bar" (From 'Get Together'). I also put the same thing on another family, they did the same thing: Mix, and left it (the drink) until spoiled. I just put another bar, it seems everything back to normal. They won't touch it unless i clicked the bar (I'm starting to suspect the Future Furniture" i mentioned earlier.)

Still i need to make sure of this. And, sure, i'll send my save. I appreciate it. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Btw, i'm not native speaker. So, i'm sorry if there's any mistake.

@Gailardhia Thank you for responding. All your answers are very clear. Do you know if the "Satisfaction" Mod impacts the sims need to drink?

    Hi,

    I wasn't aware you were using mods/cc.

Could you please test this on a vanilla game first ?

Just to make sure it's not mod related.

Really? I didn't know that. I used it because my Restaurant employees status are always "Neutral" (if not Unsatisfied)

I'm sorry if i didn't tell you first if i'm using a mod. I thought it not really related. But, sure, let's see if i removed them.

Thank you. I'll check it again. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

It might not be related but there's no way of telling if you haven't tested without

    So, here's what i found.

I removed every mod following Crin suggestion, the problem is still there (No surprise)

According to IrishMadCat, if low need have some effects towards sim to use the bar... i think no, their needs still quite high. I think that's normal when they immediately making drink after some eat.

But, everytime my sim making a drink, they turned on the TV near them. I think, that's what made them left the drinks until it spoiled (unless, the others drink that. But it's not always happened)

I wonder if the placement of the Bar and TV is what causing all this.๐Ÿคจ

Any suggestion about what should i do? I was thinking about placing the bar away, from the TV, to second floor just to be sure.๐Ÿ™‚

EDIT: No, it's still the same.

@Gailardhia When I loaded up the save and a number of CC items were removed. This could also be impacting this issue. Is anyone else having this issue who does not use CC or Mods who might be able to provide a save?

    Hi @Gailardhia

I did some testing on a fresh save and while I do not see an particular bar obsession, I can see what you mean by that they don't drink the drinks you make them create.

You do seem both, right ? They make drink on their own all the time and then don't drink it ?

  • @crinrict

Yes! That's what i saw. Is there something that might causing this? Apart from the mods? (Since i removed all the mods, they're still the same. Even when i put another bar)

Am i missing something? Or, what did i do wrong?๐Ÿ™‚

Just to be sure, i can accept if they're making drinks and drink it autonomously (Drinking Obsession), but not laying them spoiled.

As for now, the only thing i could do about the spoiled drinks, is to sell them.

    Thank you. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

There might be a mod that helps with the autonomous drinking but I'm going to add this so the devs can look into the not drinking part.

    @IrishMadCat_EA

Oh, how careless of me. I was supposed to send the save AFTER the mods have been removed.

Do i need to send another save? (Although it's no different when mods were still there)๐Ÿคจ

    I wanna try to help.

    Thank you. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • @crinrict

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I really hope they noticed this problem and fix it soon (although it may take some time, i understand)

I have the same issues: once having a bar, Sims would spend most of their time preparing drinks, which they don't drink. I have tried to put the bar outside and they still go and make a lot of drinks. Not only spend they money but also ignore everything else. Had a toddler with high food need, the mother did not autonomously fed the toddler (unfortunately), but went to prepare some drinks.

So I finally sold the bar โ˜น๏ธ  Although I like the idea of having one on my lot, till the bug is not solved I will not buy a new one.

And about the water drinking, it's also frustrating. I have glasses all over my place. Even if I cancel the water drinking action, then I lose time with cleaning glasses.

  • Actually, I'm having this issue with my game as well.  I got so fed up that I just removed the bar.  It doesn't matter what bar is in the house, just so long as there is one.  I use the mccommand, but have playtested a vanilla game and it still happens.  It only gets worse as their mixology skill increases too.

On the plus side, if your sim really needs money, buy a bar and sell the drinks from their inventory, they sell even if they are spoiled.

  • My game's been like this forever. I just manually move the drinks to the fridge, since my bar is usually far enough away that making them put them away takes too long.
Also while most won't drink the drinks left out (Visitors will) my sims love the drinks once they've been in the fridge and will autonomously grab them a lot

Yes, this is continuing in my game.  What's weird is one of my celebrity sims who has the needs-to-drink-for-fun quirk also leaves the drink he's just made on the bar, even though he'll also be sporting a debuff for not having had a drink recently.  He should be guzzling that drink down as he's in a mood about not having had a drink, but no, he leaves it and pouts or has an emotional meltdown.  It's kinda funny, and a bit of a pain, too, as I have to direct him to drink the drink he just made.

It's not just him, of course.  As someone noted earlier, the higher the mixology skill, the more likely a sim is to mix drinks just for the heckuva it...and leave it on the bar.  Some of 'em mix drink after drink after drink, never drinking one.

They will autonomously drink the ones I dragged to the fridge, tho usually not the ones they left lying around.  They often take a sip or two and put the glass down, though, and never pick it back up again.  If I don't catch 'em in the act (harder w/larger HHs), I don't know who's been drinking from what glass.  I assume but don't know that this is more likely to spread sim-colds, etc.

Yes noticed this while playing without mods this week. When inspired, sims will mix drinks, but then they won't drink them, more often than not (sometimes they do). I only started playing Nov of last year, so it's always been this way for me.
