- Sims that you know that are mixologists, caterers, or entertainers will now be available to hire for Social Events your Sim chooses to host.
Fixed in Patch 1.42.30

I am having this issue. My sim can't hire mixologists or entertainers she knows, not by clicking on the bar or by planning a social event. She only has the option to generate a random townie to fulfill the role.
this issue has been fixed and works in my game. You do need to know Sims that have the required skills
Is your game all updated ?
Yes, my game is up to date. My Sim has a full friend relationship bar with a Celebrity Mixologist who has max Mixology and Cooking. She is not able to select that Sim for any of those roles for a party.
No mods or CC.
Did you try repairing your game through Origin and deleting the localthumbcache file yet ?
Is the sim you're trying to hire busy? For some of these things where you select sims from a presented list, it will exclude sims that should be at their workplace during their work hours, and if I recall, mixologists usually work duiring the evenings.
