Just one other question. As I saw back when it happened it is not possible to save while there is a fire, so A) is a safe file still usefull in troubleshooting and B) would that be a safe from just before the fire or after it burned down the house?

Yes a save file would still be useful. And one from just before the fire would be perfect. Thank you again for your help on this.
Ok, so I tested it and there appears to be a partial hit box issue. On some spots of fire you get said error message and on other spots you get the option to extinguish. I guess we are dealing with an issue of prioritizing layers here, meaning multiple layers of items with the fire being one of them, and that it depends on where you click what it selects. And if it *thinks* you are selecting one of the objects behind the fire you get an error message. I don't have any sim-specific experience with coding, but I believe that if the team could look at this hit box selection and maybe make the fire a higher priority or make the hit box a bit bigger, that this could rather easily be solved. I do think it would also be more realistic if it selects with a bigger or more important hit box, because in real life you would also be rather focused on the fire then on the objects behind it, if that makes any sense.

@AlHollandiyah Thank you for the information. We now have a better idea of the issue and do not need the save.
Your welcome! Also, I need to add: Be sure to also test the hitbox selection when there is no actual "object" other then floor behind the fire, because the floor is also a clickable object with interactions "go here" and that also gives the error "cant do because of fire". Just a little note to add to my above post!
I've had three fires since the latest update. The first fire, the Sim was able to run to the shower and put herself out, with no problems. Suddenly, I started having a lot of glitches in my game, and I noticed a new option popped up in the smartphone option for my Sims...
*rage vent*
CALL EVENT COORDINATOR: JASMINE WHATSERNAME
The last two Sims were unable to run to the shower while the flames were blazing. All three fires were caused by normal things, incense, firepits, cooking while tired. While I'm at it, I have had other glitches since this event started, too, like my school-aged Sims haven't been able to leave for school on time, nor have my working Sims been able to leave for work. I LOATHE JASMINE.
Did you know I stopped playing The Sims 4 because of the Day of the Dead Sugar Skull glitch? I only started playing it again because a relative GAVE ME another stuff pack.

Sorry to hear you are having these issue. Were the glitches you encountered with the Day of the Dead similar? Are you using any mods or CC in your game?
Would you be happy to share your save? If so, please zip up this folder: documents\electronicarts\thesims4\saves and drop the file to this Mediafire-Link to upload.
Please make sure to name the zip file with your user name.

The issue seems to have been resolved, thanks.
I did notice during the last fire that someone had the option to extinguish grayed out, but it was because the Sim was already starting to extinguish the fire autonomously. That was before last night's patch, at the end of last month.
- bookmaster3257 years agoSeasoned AceIs it really fixed? I had a fire the other day in the game [set the llama game on fire] and despite furious clicking from multiple angles, my sim(s) could not put it out. Just gave me the "not available" line. The fire did eventually go out with fairly minimal damage--the chairs and table were burnt but that's it. It was a bit weird.
(actually captured a video but for some reason cannot post it on any social media at the moment. If that changes and it's still helpful, I'll edit my comment.) - manzana08077 years agoSeasoned Ace
It looks like I never remembered to click Me Too on this, but I've had this problem several times in the past, however it seems fixed for me now.
I just had a fire in my game earlier this week and one Sim autonomously started to put it out right away, without me having to click on anyone and ending up with the message that I can't put the fire out because there's a fire. In the past this has not been the case. The only thing that was damaged was a plant near the fireplace.
Just had a fire and was not even getting a 'not available' line for extinguishing. The only extinguish option was 'Extinguish with Freeze Ray' , which did nothing at all. The fire was started by a failed SimRay transform attempt, if that is relevant?
Not sure why there would be no normal extinguish option though. The freeze ray should be an option, not the only option...

I'm getting this in Sulani. I had a camp fire with 3 stone seats around it. Its summer and hot. The stone seats catch fire and none of my sims can extinguish the fire. They complain they can't reach the fire even though there is nothing around. I have to let it burn out.

So this started happening to me since the IL patch. I had volcanic rocks that started a fire on my lot. My sims couldn't do anything because "there's a fire". Clicking on the rock to extinguish it wouldn't work because "there's a fire". I could only interact with it to try to extinguish it once a neighbor came running in to put it out. Same thing happened when my stove caught on fire. Neither of my sims could extinguish the fire because "there's a fire". And, again, I couldn't make the interaction work until a neighbor came running in to put the fire out.
