For a work around, I shift-click on each chef standing outside the restaurant, and reset them.  They have been going to their stations after I do that.

Unfortunately "shift clicking" doesn't exist on console and cheats disable achievements. Where is the workaround for console players? This is a significant issue and EA needs to prioritize fixing it. I know you're trying to help but I feel that EA takes this issue less seriously when there's a workaround for SOME of it's players.

I can't believe this has been a problem since July and EA has not addressed it.  Dine out should be the next pack refresh.  It's so buggy.

I've had Dine Out for ages and this just started being a problem for me in the past few days. Chefs just hanging around outside, making the restaurant unusable for visitors. Then today I had a restaurant owner try to open up their place, and the waiter and chef arrived, but there was no sign of the host so eventually I had to give up and close.

I have a Mac. No mods.

I have found that I have this problem if I lock the kitchen to employees only. The other employees will enter but the chef won't. Unlocking it to anyone can enter and reloading the lot will fix the problem. 

Is there any way to escalate this bug? It's been four months and the bug makes the Dine Out Game Pack inoperable. Shouldn't the Game Pack be pulled at this point? I'm really confused as to why this outstanding issue is continuing to be ignored... I play on Xbox so the "workarounds" aren't an option for me. Should I seek a partial reimbursement from Microsoft or something?

Definitely not fixed today, just tested it.

No, I got Cottage Living when it came out and this only started happening a few weeks ago, when I posted. I've definitely used restaurants a lot in the meantime. Resetting the chef is working for me as a fix.

I have the same problem after patches updated in November, 2021.

With respect, what's being suggested isn't a fix. It's a temporary reset & it has to be done every time I visit my restaurant. If EA fixed it, we wouldn't be on page 14 of this thread.

No it hasn;'t been fixed.  It's very annoying and not even on their laundry list.

I just bought both laundry and  dine in packs! I was looking forward to it and just set up my new restaurant. Facing the chef problem right now and it is really frustrating. I tried visiting the lot and the Chef is always standing outside the restaurant. I opened the shop while my Sims is at home, but I'm 4 hours in and no food has been sold. I believe it is the due to the chef bug. I understand that the temporary solution is to reset the Sim but it is not a long term solution. So disappointed and crashed my excitement for the packs. Hope EA can fix this please. Does bumping this thread up helps?

Just tried to resetsim instead of shift click since I would like the restaurant to operate while I'm not on the premise. It returned with "Sim not found". Any other workaround for this? 

I entered the lot with restaurant, reset the chef and made sure that the chef went to cook before my sim travelled home. There is no meals prepared, no sales again. I visited the restaurant, and not to my surprised, the chef is standing outside the restaurant. Deeply frustrated with this massive inconvenient. I don't want to actively be in the restaurant everyday! Anyone help please?

Unfortunately, I got bumped around without beng able to contact someone. Sims 4 is not part of the refund list... Agree that they should've paused the sales on this pack since the bug defeats the whole purpose of the pack. Wished I chanced upon this prior to my purchase last night. D=

There is a link in post #141 about refunds.  If you are within 72hrs from first use then EA should give a refund according to their policy.  If not and you are in the UK then you can get a refund under the sale of defective goods clause but you might need to raise a small claims legal case against EA and I don't know if it will work.  Would certainly get their attention and give everyone else with the pack the chance that they would give the bug some attention

And yesterday's patch still did not fix this issue.
