I have this too and it has nothing to do with swimming. The trait just generally doesn't work.
I haven't tried actual freezing to death recently, but they sure died previously. And now there is not only the moodlet - their skin changes, warning messages pop-up, so I have no reason to doubt they would die eventually.
@crinrictSo I've checked it again, till "the end". And "the end" is obvious - my sim died.
Note that I don't know how to replicate this bug. Something clearly "interacts" with trait and blocks it. Because the night before my sim spent hours in snow wearing bikini - NOTHING. The next morning this same sim died in minutes. The only difference was a blizzard that occured in the morning.
No, if it's not happening indoors/warm weather, I'm keeping this separate.

For me, it also happens indoors when it's cold and thermostat is off or is turned on for cooling.
It never happens when it's either warm outside or thermostat is on for warming.
I'm wondering if the Iceproof and Heatproof traits are canceling each other out? My current sim took both at the same time, and she was overheating when jogging in hot weather. Since she lives in Oasis Springs, the Iceproof trait isn't really necessary for her, so I just removed that with the cheat and there was no overheating on the next jog (still hot weather). Haven't tried in a heatwave yet (it's fall so it will probably be a bit before I can), but she's definitely doing better in the heat without Iceproof.
Edit: Never mind, she's overheating while jogging in hot weather again.
Wow, now my BOT is freezing to death??? She didn't die, but she got the mood and all the warnings one after another.
