Haven't been able to test this yet but do you have this issues with all your Sims or just one ? Also happening on a fresh save ?
What traits does your Sim have ?

- I can see what you mean, however I haven't seen them do it on an empty one they seem to do it on their own as soon as something is in the trash.
It's still really annoying, especially in bigger houses, I always forget they do this until I see them going around the house on their "garbage rampage". I'm not sure they only empty the ones with something in them because I've seen my sims lurking around trashcans that I never use, the one in the bedroom for example, however I can't confirm 100%. I experienced this problem for the first time when playing with the Lynx household.
I have this issue in one of my saves. An adult and child sim in pine crest apartment in Evergreen harbor. Every single time there is anything in the trash a sim will autonomously take out the trash. It may be the adult or the child or their guests. I started noticing it more when several guests were over and I saw the taking of the trash out like half a dozen times in about 15 min of game play. In this same save I have an issue with the child sim getting negative moodlets because of a trait she doesn't have. But I don't think it's a trait issue because it's not just one sim. It's all my Sims plus their guests. This makes rummaging through the trash difficult because it never gets full.
