@MorgyI agree. I've been building a save for Get Famous since August and now I'm scarred to play it for fear of all my sims aging and eventually passing on just because I need to go into CAS. It really frustrates me that I can't play my game especially when it is sitting right in front of me. But we can't really do anything except to wait for a fix from Maxis. I guess I'll just work on some builds until this is sorted out and we get a patch.
Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.47.49.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? I have everything
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? The bug represents itself when a player goes into create a sim by planning a outfit or changing appearance.
What happens when the bug occurs? When I try to change my sims appearances they automatically start rapidly aging up
What do you expect to see? Aging should never occur until each sim has reach the end of their lifespan or gets aged up from a birthday cake.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. This just started to happen after the patch 1.47.49.1020 was installed.
Also just would like to know when this will be fixed the sims 4 get famous expansion pack just came out. Also there has been several reports of this issue recurring soon as we received the new patch update.

Now that Get Famous is out, can anyone confirm or deny that installing the pack fixes this bug? I'm having it too and believe me I've tried everything I can think of and nothing works. I won't be buying the EP until a major sale happens for it.
The only other thing I can add is that I've read on here and the forums so many people who are grieving lost prepatch saves. It is SO IMPORTANT not to just backup your saves before a patch, but to keep at LEAST one copy of those saves untouched until you are certain that all bugs have been fixed. Back up your saves before the patch, but afterwards put in a COPY of your most recent save! Always keep at least one backup save pristine and untouched! That's what I've done since Sims 3, and I haven't lost a prepatch save in like 10 years.
My heart goes out to those who've lost their 2 or 3 year old saves. 🤒

My Sims are aging up even tho I have the Expansion Pack installed. Seems like I have to wait for a patch

LOL...this is why we are all always told to backup our saves/mods/content with a new patch/release :P
- crinrict7 years agoHero+
It doesn't fix it. My mistake.
My Sim is just immune against the bug (no idea why) and my test was off as I tested a different Sim without the EP installed.EDIT
I always recommend playing a new save with a major patch to find out how everything works. Then when we know what's going on, you can dive into your old one.

@Morgy I always do backup, but the problem appeared after the upgrade, and the same way if you get the files from the backup and put it back in the folder of The Sims 4 the problem will appear anyway, because it came in the last upgrade.

Yeah, I'm starting to see that. I just can't to wrap my mind around how they missed this. EA is supposed to test the game and patches before release...its starting to look as though they are getting sloppy.
Thanks for the replies to my question @revivalize and @crinrict I guess all of us will have to wait for a fix. What a bummer.

Considering the Sims team size is (I believe) small, they can check only up to some point. The number of players is much larger than the development team, and in my opinion they probably release it and let the players to discover those bugs as large number of players would discover the problem in a shorter period of time when comparing to the team discover the bug by themselves would take much longer.

Why install EP6 (Get Famous) would not help fix the problem? This is because the string of code that cause the error is likely to locate in the CAS file which is in the base game, not in the EP6 itself.

Throwing a "me too" in here. I thought installing the new EP would fix that, but, it didn't. I'm playing a new save with 2 sims until it's fixed. Glad the Guru's are on that issue. I only had 1 toddler who had that Father Winter trait & I removed that trait from the toddler until that issue is fixed also.

No, no no. No developer wants to ship with bugs, let alone game breaking ones. The games they work on are their babies. They likely just didn't get the time to do proper QA cycles to fix all the bugs, and were forced to ship a product before it was properly tested and fixed. Don't blame the devs, blame the people forcing the deadlines onto them.Stop blaming the devs that pour their hearts and souls into these games, I'm sure they would LOVE to ship they feel it's ready for the general public rather than when EA decides its time for it's release.

Well, I never blame developers, they did nothing wrong as bug is a normal thing.
@Noppasit777 For a £35 expansion pack, the developers should ensure that the game is fully tested and works and this isn't a small bug, it's legit game breaking.

They can't ensure that if they aren't given proper time for several QA cycles. They don't want to ship with giant bugs, they're forced to by a lack of time.
- Not sure I buy they are forced to. They need to still do basic testing. What they are stating is this isn't a bug that if you happen to select Serve Dinner it ages up the player who selected this. I spotted the issue within 20-30 minutes of the update. I also have spent nearly 7 hours of my own free-time, unpaid to help determine where the problem exists. It is not just a CAS issue. It appears to be an issue with changing the composure of a household in general.
- crinrict7 years agoHero+@BearLandBucFan Did it happen for you in Buy/Build at all ? Did it NPCs also age up for you ?
- They dont have the power to delay the release, so yes, they are forced to. You don't know what other giant bugs there were that took priority. You dont know what they did find and fix. Yes, it's a big bug that is definitely an issue and needs to be fixed asap. If they arent given time to do basic testing properly, you cant fault them. It's also no a devs job to spot the bugs, that'd be the QA department who then gives a detailed report back to the devs so it can be tracked down more easily and fixed.
No dev wants to ship with giant gamebreaking bugs, most game devs arent given adequate time to go through proper QA cycles. It's an industry issue. - The ones using Agile/Sprint Planning do. Yes I know QA is responsible for testing. This I don't even see as a "bug". I see it as a flawed mechanic that should be seen immediately even running basic tests after compile. Not catching this is comparable to not catching how touching your radio accelerates your car 25 MPH with no ability to go back down. That's a mechanical issue.

Oh lord, this bug/glitch destroys the experience of the game, an apparently there is no workaround.
All we can do is wait ☹️ I wonder how many days/weeks it will take them to solve this problem. Or maybe the mod community will solve the bug/glitch before the devs?...

it would be so funny if the mod community solves the issue before the devs do...lol
Anyone would be crazy to actually play the game on a save file with this bug. It would completely destroy your entire town, aging and killing sims you spent months/years perfecting.
Just as said, people found this bug within minutes of playing the game. They obviously don't test their games properly, if they simply hired some playtesters for week or so, they'd have caught this bug easily. One thing they should do in the future instead of releasing these updates untested; they could have a beta release on a test server weeks before official release and let players try it out. They would literally have thousands of people finding bugs they could fix before an official release and completely avoid this kind of disaster.
EA used to do this in the late 90s with Ultima Online, they had a test server where new changes would be tested there before official servers. Those days are long past and EA just rushes things out for release, but its more important to do things right, take a week or two and get things right the first time.

Oh...and my husband thought it would be a great idea to adopt both a puppy and kitten (again, real life). So...I have plenty to keep me busy :P
