Hm, this was a Sim randomly generated by the game? If you're seeing the TYAE trait, you're already seeing something different than I am; I was able to get another bugged mermaid in my current test.

@HeroicJay I don't think it's a matter of wrong traits but of traits not being added correctly. Not sure what triggers it
And yes, she's a random nowhere living Sim (hidden household). Maybe the hidden households are fine but not the other household ones ? Which household are yours ?EDIT: FUnny thing is when I added her to my household it seemed like the hydration was like you described and all but now she suddenly has that trait and I don't know why. Unfortunately, I saved ... Need to go check the backups so I can refind her in untouched state.

Regarding "wrong traits": you're correct, it looks like it was just the trait not being added.
Just to clarify, the random mermaid you found was not Nalani Mahai'i, Kalamainu'u Iona, or Ukupanipo Hekekia, correct? Those three Sims are pregenerated and work fine.

@HeroicJay They have premades in hidden households ? I think it was Kala but SimsInfo said she was in a hidden household and a vendor so I assumed she was random (I have not watched/read much cause I didn't' want to get spoiled on mermaids too much:P - guess that's down the drain now :D)
Anyways, could you adjust your error report so it's the trait being missing ?

Yeah, Kala works fine. She was, in fact, the not-bugged mermaid I was using for this image I cobbled together.
I edited the text a while ago. I couldn't find the option to edit the title (I bet it's somewhere obvious though.)
- crinrict7 years agoHero+@HeroicJay I've only found one NPCs so far (I do hope she is one :D) and she does seem to have the trait missing.
So guess make this: Random NPCs don't get the hidden mermaid trait correctly - HeroicJay7 years agoNew Adventurer
One more thing as a follow-up to the picture: I moved Iosefina out and had my main Sim get her to admit being a mermaid. She now has trait_OccultMermaid_Discovered. And now she does transform in the water... but she still has Hygiene.
- crinrict7 years agoHero+@HeroicJay I guess you would need to cheat-add the trait

Cheating to add the TYAE trait did, in fact, fix the remaining issues.

- SherwoodSpirit6 years agoNew Adventurer@crinrict I've been playing the Runaway Teen challenge with a kid in Sulani, and his girlfriend is a randomly generated (I think) teen townie named Pania Misipeka. I took her into cas.fulleditmode to change her awful clothing and discovered she was a mermaid. I never saw her swim with a tail but my sim never asked her if she was a mermaid so I wasn't concerned. But later, I found that she was a homeless sim, so I put her in a house with a family, set all their relationships, had a mother, grandmother and little sister who were also mermaids (father was not). Then I played them for a while to get them going as a family before I mark them as unplayed again...
That's when I realized Pania no longer had a hydration bar, and she didn't transform in the bath, even though all her other family members do. Played her for a couple days, saved, quit, reloaded a couple times to see if her mermaid form would come back. It didn't. Went looking for answers, found this thread. I just did Traits.equip_trait trait_OccultMermaid_TYAE on her and voila! She's got a hydration bar and her tail came out when she took a bath and went swimming. Thank all of you who figured out this fix. You guys rawk! 🙂
