Same issue here - I put some of the pictures in to the University chest while moving - figured it would be easier to put up when I move an all of them are black now. they were mostly copies but still what the heck
I got my pictures back yesterday by deleting all the files in the sims 4 folder that were not in a folder, the single files. I just deleted them as a last ditch effort and it work! BUT when I tried the save the game I got a pop- up saying that the game couldn't be saved. I looked it up online and was able to save by using save as. I don't know if you will get the same results but i figured I'd share. I also reset my game also before but the pictures didn't come back. I don't know if it was combination of the two or not.
This happened to me when I started running out of space on my computer. After I freed up some space, I got my pictures back. I hope that helps!
@lazarusinashes please could you tell me more about this? My photos all turned black (see my post in this thread for more details) and one thing in common with you is I started to run out of space on my PC too. I've freed up space but the photos haven't come back yet. Did you do anything in particular before they came back
@Sid1701d9 please could you tell me how to fix this in my game? See my previous posts for more details as I have already done some troubleshooting unsuccessfully.
