- crinrict6 years agoHero+@ldeberry5 Did you patch your game yet ?
Hello, I patched my game, and saw that the patch was supposed to fix the NAP bugs and spawning clay and cubes, but my game is still all broken with that... Is there something to do in game to fix the save, or is my save totally lost, and I have to replace my broken sims ?
Sorry for my poor english -->
Have a good day averyone :DD- crinrict6 years agoHero+@Aweirdthingtosay You will probably need to remove all future cubes/clay your Sims already have for it to go away. Like load the families and remove the clay from the inventory.
Does it also still happen on a fresh save ? - janyses6 years agoSeasoned Ace
I didn't see where the patch mentioned the spawning. That's a different issue, it seems. There's a mod fix for it here: [Admin - removed mod link. Please don't link to mods on the Answers HQ boards]
- @janyses mod links are not allowed in this forum, please respect this
@crinrict Well, i already sold all the clay and cube but there're still spawning, so my sims keep using them... But all the others issues with NAP are still going too .__.
I didn't tried a new game cause all my broken sims had been doing weird things after playing with them and intervert with other families... I mean, I don't know how I can really do it again êé But that's an idea, I take it... I'm pretty desperate at this point cause I had the bug since the release of ECO... Y_Y
@janyses I know this mod, I had it, but with the patch I take it off of my mod file... Gonna try with it... But don't want my sims, even without spawning clay or cube, stopping tasks to push up or going on the computer to program for no reason :/
Thx for the answers ! Gonna try a new game to begin... Still hoping to keep mine in the end.- janyses6 years agoSeasoned Ace
@EmeraldLaura Oh sorry, I wasn't aware. If mod links aren't allowed, though, then EA needs to start working faster to fix these bugs.
- crinrict6 years agoHero+@Aweirdthingtosay The problem with the bug was that traits were assigned that might still be active on an existing save.
Best to try a fresh one to see how it works there and when it does, maybe the existing one can be fixed too but I need more feedback on that first.
I don't have an affected game to try myself as I was busy with another game :D - @janyses lets say not welcome i never mentioned consequences and mods are fine its only about the links. anyways i wonder everytime why customer make fixes faster than the Developer but i guess they where working prior to the NAP problem and anything else will follow 🙂
@crinrict Oh I see, Maybe someone will find how to remove it êé
For the next days incoming i'm gonna play on a fresh game, hoping it will not come back (well, that's the purpose of the patch so...)Well, I pry for you to not encounter an issue like this one. It was really drepressing... 🙂 Have a good night ! Thx again for the answers :DD
So they claim to have fixed it with NPCs (I have no idea if that's actually the case or not), but that doesn't help if you have affected PLAYABLE Sims in your game.
I am definitely still seeing clay spawning in affected Sims' inventories after the July 23 patch. I temporarily removed simvasion's mod before upgrading to the new patch, but I think I'm going to put it back, because the problems are not fixed.
The workaround that temporarily fixed the issue pre-patch (go to a different household, enact the NAP causing the problem, like Tech Support for future cubes spawning, invite over the affected Sim from the first household, repeal the NAP, return to the original household) still seems to work, which is the only thing keeping the game playable for me.
Are we going to have to wait until all the PLAYABLE Sims who were affected prior to the patch die off before this and all the other related NAP bugs are finally squashed for good? I am starting to think that might be the case.
I am not willing to start over with a new save. It's more of a hassle than it's worth, if the problem is just going to keep recurring. Frustrating does not begin to describe it!
- @karenh3a cririct alreday said the hidden traits of infected sims may not disappear since the update so they keep this behaviour. but if you make a new sim and/or gameplay it may not happen anymore.
anyways its annoying and in this case i always recommend to save your files external before update the Game and the best way is to play out-takes of a main save. then it wont hurt so much if you delete it.. not optimal but clever - crinrict6 years agoHero+
Would anyone send me their affected save ?
I'd like to try a few things.
- @karenh3a are you only using one of my mods? I do have another NAP mod that clears the behaviour stuck on played sims.
@EmeraldLaura I have already started over with a brand new save TWICE since the problems started in June. I'm not going to go through that exercise again.
I just wish there was some sort of batch fix that could be applied to remove all of those hidden traits from all affected playable Sims everywhere.
@simvasion - The one I have been using is simvasion_ecointeractions_fix. I took it out of my game last night before installing the latest patch, to see if the patch actually helped at all, but immediately started seeing clay spawning again, so I'm going to try putting it back in.
Thanks for everything you've done to help the community since this mess first started!
- @karenh3a you should also try my NAP autonomy fix mod then, as it is the batch fix you are looking for.
- @simvasion Really?? I didn't know that. Will go download and try it right now. Thanks!
- KatAnubis6 years agoSeasoned Ace@simvasion Thanks for directing us to the mod.
Hopefully EA/Maxis will fix it so that it's not necessary. I like the other things that those NAPs do but I don't like the cubes or the clay. They're really annoying as they interfere with what I've instructed the Sims to do and the cubes/clay build up in their inventories to annoying levels. Yes, I agree completely as it makes them completely unplayable when all your sims want to do is play with a future cube that makes them sad on the regular, bake cakes, and practice programming. I had to delete the computer from my lot so my sims would stop programming.
Yes, I also noticed how my sim wants to practice programming. Its getting to the point where I don't even want to play anymore till its fixed. I have autonomy off, but my sim will still cancel stuff to play with future cubes and lumps of clay.

I've gone round my played households and deleted clay and cubes from inventories and lots (and cheated away the money that generated). I've only noticed one single clay appearance in an inventory since then, and the sim might have picked it up off some surface I overlooked rather than spawned it. So, I'm cautiously hopeful that patch plus aggressive deletion might have solved the problem, but I'm not sure yet.
Meanwhile, one of my sims is still playing instruments that aren't in her inventory and rushing to the mirror to practice acting all the time. The performing arts NAP has never been active in her neighbourhood so I don't know how she picked it up, but it started a couple of weeks after I installed EL. Since the patch, I tried cheat-enacting and cheat repealing that NAP but it hasn't helped. I did it while playing her household though. I will try getting another sim in another neighbourhood to invite her over and try it again. Any advice would be welcome (I don't use mods though).
I have seven saves but have only played one since EL. I still don't dare open any others for fear of NAP contamination. Since the patch, has anyone completely sorted the NAP madness in a contaminated save, or opened an old save and played it safely? I plan to turn NAPs off in all my other saves before playing them again, although I think I will allow environmental change.

@KLoxxon Cheat-enacting and repealing only works to fix NPCs, so it won't fix the active household. Doing it from another household should work though. Sims can get infected any time you switch households with the annoying NAPs active, if they're in the zone, whether they live near there or not.
I fixed my contaminated save back in mid-June, and I've been playing (NAP-related) problem-free since then. I did it by disabling the pack, saving without it, then re-enabling it - a fairly destructive (but faster for my 84-Sim save) method. I'd only been playing a week with the pack though, and didn't know about repealing fixing things too - I don't think I'd want to do it again now. However you choose to fix things, make sure to turn off NPC voting and repeal the problematic NAPs first. Even with disabling the pack completely, when I re-enabled it, the NAPs were still active! (So I ended up disabling the pack twice.)
I do stick with the same four NAPs in every neighbourhood though, so I lose a little bit of gameplay not really using NAPs (or influence, since I don't have to out-vote NPCs - but most of my neighbourhoods are entirely populated with my own Sims though, so I don't want them voting for weird things anyway). I use Green Gardening, Eco-Friendly Appliances, Upcycling Initiative, and Clean Energy Production. They all have weekly inspections and fines for non-compliance, rather than buggy autonomous behaviours. Water- and Energy-Conservation should be safe too, if you don't mind the utilities going out occasionally. They only lasted one week in my game, before I got annoyed and repealed them, so I'm not sure how playable they are long-term. We Wear Bags also doesn't seem to affect played Sims.
If you don't have 4 NAPs active in a neighbourhood, you'll still get notifications every Monday evening that something won the voting - but it doesn't actually take effect. That, and things like Sims with the Active trait still doing push-ups or Sims playing with clay I forgot to delete, had me jumpy for a few weeks after I cleaned up. I still get suspicious and check every time they start to cook something on their own.
The Eco Footprint can be a bit glitchy, and has some odd effects on gardens, but overall it's nowhere near the level of brokenness as the NAPs.
Any saves that haven't been opened since installing EL should be safe - but turn off NPC voting before loading any households. I just opened one of my old ones, and there were no NAPs active.

@Rhaynn0124 thanks very much for the comprehensive advice. I'm reluctant to disable EL entirely because I've made progress in this save that I don't want to lose, but I will try everything else. I've already tried cheat-enact cheat-repealing performing arts from another household while my sim visits, but not played enough to gauge the result of that yet. I have unfortunately spotted some sims playing with clay again after I deleted it all from their inventories a few days ago, which is disappointing as I hoped I'd got rid of that.
I'm relieved to hear that as long as I disable the NAPs before opening a household my uncontaminated saves will be ok. I still haven't done it yet. I'd like to know how far and how well I can clean up the conaminated one first.
Your help is much appreciated!
More generally, I do think it's a great shame that I have to turn off NAPs, such a promising sounding feature of EL before release, to make my game work properly. It's a very poor outcome that all but a handful of them are game ruining. I don't usually do those 'favourite pack' type polls that run in the forums, but if I was taking one now I'm afraid I'd have to say EL is easily the worst EA has released to date because so much is unplayable
I must agree with you.
The patch did not solve the problem.
With voting off, and offending NAPs not active, Sims are still doing what they should not, including mixing destressing drinks, grilling and programming. All of this completely ignoring toddlers needs.
The only solution so far is disabling EL, which means you end up with hairless/naked people, as well as with objects that are no longer there, like vertical planters.
The most ridicolous thing is that EA officially denies EL is broken (I have tickets open with Support, and they just reply with copy pasted text, denying the obvious, treating ppl as fools), so that you can't ask Microsoft or Sony a refund.
It is really time to take responsibility.
It would be as easy as temporarily add the option to completely disable all NAPs, and hidden traits that come with it.
