Re: [FIXED] [BDK] Bunnies and filth fiends are too frequent

I agree. The dust is wayyyyy too frequent. I have a household of two (1 adult, 1 toddler). After two Sims days a fire started. 6 fires in ONE DAY because of the dust. Lost 40000$ of furnitures (especially wall hangings that disappears without a "replace" option). My family lost an entire lifetime of savings just because they didn't clean the floor for two days AND I spent an hour to replace the wall hangings (with moneycheats, of course) ?

This is unplayable.

It should be 4-5 times less frequent to be playable. We can't clean the entire house 3 times a day. We whould do it once or twice a week, no more, especially for such a small family.

You guys most likely have a bug, because I see the state of the house having (one adult, two toddlers and one cat) becoming dusty during one sim day, which is normal. Everyday you would have one more level and bunny. But, this is a gameplay feature to bring some challenge to the game and therefor should not be easy, especially since everyone can clean/vaccum the house, and to me it seems to be tone properly, thats why I supposed you guys are having a bug? But really I dont wish to have to wait 3 days to get just one more level of dust, because I want to use the kit as duty chore as it was meant to be. I dont want end up vaccuming only once or twice in a week, that would be boring and pointless.

That being said, before buying this kit, you should have watch the livestream where they clearly explain that more sims you had, more dirty it would become, and quickly so... this was your call, if it happens not being a bug.

I dont think that having a household getting dusty once every 3 days would be thrilling to play... The sims need difficulties and even with one adult, 2 toddlers and a cat, I can manage to make the house clean everyday...

@Francoisf30I don't know how you can make the house clean everyday unless your Sims only eat, sleep, go to work, and clean...

My Sim is a single mom and has a busy life, she goes out with friends very often, she dates others Sims, she gardens a lot because she's a spellcaster and needs ingredients for potions, she also goes out to find ingredients in different neighborhoods, AND she has a maid that comes everyday (but the house is still dirty 80% of the time). I'm sorry but if your Sims are busy, you CAN'T clean everyday. I'm ok to have something challenging (that's why I have the kit), but Sims days are short, the cleaning animations take a long time, and Sims have millions things to do in game, so... yeah.... challenging but playable should be nice to me.

So maybe we have a bug, I don't know I don't care, I just want my game to be playable. If you want to vacuum everyday, sure, you can use the lot trait to make your house dirty quickly.

Another solution could be to choose between 2 ou 3 difficulty levels. In Paranormal we can have the "basic" haunted house, or we can choose to make it harder with an object. What if we have something similar, like "easy", "average", and "hardcore" with an objet or directly in the game options ?

  • I'm having the same issue, I have my sims clean the whole house to perfection and as soon as they finished it's all dusty again, the spawn rate for dust is so high they can't keep up

  • I agree, I started a new game and couldn't do anything but clean, I really tried to play around it, but in the end I had to disable the pack to even get a job or build skills.

Sure I was making a killing with the bunnies, but I found out when I left them alone for one day for a job and went from max friendship to low friendship with all of them, you also have to constantly feed and hug them just to keep them above neutral. It felt like trying to keep the bug boxes alive all over again.

When they have high friendship they give you like, 5 to 7 hundred dollars a search or something else as ridiculous considering how often you can send them out, but at low friendship you pretty much get nothing. So with how it is now you either have to give them your constant attention or expect to get nothing from them.

I turned it off because it was either play the Sims or play bust the dust, and I wanted to play the Sims.

Oh and just a note, I am a big occult and fantasy player, and love any little cute pet or companion they can add, so not being able to actually play with them is a big disappointment to me and I hope they fix it without ruining them.

@Francoisf30 Interesting. I have an 8 sims household and had to retire all but one from the acting career for this reason and another that I've mentioned in another thread. Just not doable. The maid comes along and says it's all good and it's clearly not! So I need to reduce my households to play with a bit of dust? All my legacies and achievements gone? So wish I never got this kit!

@Bloodluvingirl Yep, I think I'm going to have to uninstall this so that I can get my game to a level I can cope with. As I said in this thread, I've retired all my Celebrity, Actor sims so they can just clean up all day! Can't be right. Maybe some toning down in the code would fix this?
  • I bought the pack to have it as an extra thing. I do agree it ultimately takes over the game play to the point of my sim died due to the excessive buffs then finding something funny. I ended up having to download a mod who basically turned it down a lot. Sims will cancel current tasks even on public lots to go vacuum. Also the amount of money you can get from a dust bunny is better than most careers.

@Francoisf30I like difficulty too but I can't even manage two sims with the dust taking up the majority of my time. Kill the bunnies and vacuum. Next floor, kill the bunnies and vacuum. It's endless. I'd be ok if it was every eight hours. But its like every two hours a new layer of dust forms. It most definitely is a bug.

I only have two sims in the current household I'm playing (one robot and one toddler) in a three story house. Literally within 2 real life minutes of playing with the pack, I had a thin layer of dust on the first and second floor and a dust bunny on the first. I wasn't crazy about the dust bunnies being alive, but I embraced it as another quicky Sims feature. Once I got rid of the first one, a second one immediately popped up on the second floor. Having only sim in the household that is able to clean the house isn't enough. Like the others said:

    1) We need an option to toggle dust bunnies off
or make them appear less frequent

    2) They need to adjust the timing for when a new layer of dust forms, especially after the floors become pristine.

@Francoisf30 I have only 2 adult sims and twin infants (how are they contributing to the dust factor?) and it's out of control. Vacuuming twice a week or so is the norm, not what you're describing. It sounds like you want to focus on just vacuuming when there are already a ton of things to do with your sims' time than clean. I can't get any skill building done, nor can I keep them showered and fed when all they do is clean. If you're after a vacuuming household, there's a filthy house attribute you can activate.

A lot of us bought the dust kit thinking it would add realism to the game. I want t expecting to get a “thrill” out of fusing as you say. Also, I don’t want my sims to dust constantly and have to give up their jobs just to have time to clean their houses. All I wanted was a little bit of dust for them to vacuum and for the houses to look a little less neat and pristine.

I'm uninstalling as I type!  Way too much for my busy sims to deal with.  Hey!  We want to stay out dancing for days! And we have jobs and a big garden to tend to and a very large mansion!  :D
