Re: Sims 4 Update Fail

Ok so I had this issue too, it would not download at all and kept saying update failed but I managed to fix it. I found the problem to be the Sims 4 was classed as open in my task manager so I forced closed it (just the sims 4, not origin) and tried updating again and it worked.

Open Windows Task Manager, (Ctrl+Shift+Esc)

Click on The Sims 4 and right click, then press End Process.

I found there were more than one Sims 4 file open so make sure you close them all, if it does not work the first time try it again.

I hope this helps

    Thank you! This worked!
    If you are running Windows 8 you are going to have to open Task Manager, click the arrow that says "More Details", then scroll down to find Sims 4. I had to end the task twice before it disappeared. I haven't noticed any issues since then!
    Glad to know it wasn't just me having the problem.

    Open task manager, then start the game and check if it comes up on the task manager.

    You are a star i did what you put on here and it updated properly thanks a million :-)

  • So, I had been having the same problem; and after reading the suggestions (restarting origin, restarting pc, and looking for file in task manager) and having none of them work for me I went into my computer files, found everything with origin on it and deleted it, and uninstalled the entire program. Then I went to their website and reinstalled it and everything worked fine for me after that. It took like 3 cycles of saying that the update was completed until it eventually said that it was updated...but as long as it works, right??

    Hope this maybe helps?

  • I have windows 10 installed and The things everyone is saying to close I cant find...can someone do a list of the procedure so I can see if I have those same option...Thanks

    @faerysimss

    By doing what?
    Logging out? No 🙂

    If you are afraid of loosing your progress, you can go to C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\, make a copy of the folder called The Sims 4, and place it somewhere you'll remember. You can even put the copy next to the other folder and rename it to The Sims 4 backup.
